Is Gwen Stefani a good fit for 'The Voice'? -- POLL

The Voice has had its fair share of megastar mentors, starting with original quartet Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. And the reality contest has been able to keep up its twice-a-year schedule by cycling out some of those judges with the equally star-powered Shakira and Usher.

So it comes as no surprise that Gwen Stefani might be the next superstar to join the NBC show. TMZ reports that it’s a done deal, while The Hollywood Reporter says the No Doubt singer is simply in talks, but NBC wouldn’t confirm the news when EW reached out for comment.

Whether the addition pans out and Stefani indeed replaces Aguilera in season 7 — which begins taping in June, airs in the fall, and includes another new judge in Pharrell Williams — let’s talk about what we think of the idea. There’s no question that she has an impressive career, both with No Doubt and as a solo artist, but how well do we know her personality? The Voice panel has thrived on the dynamic between the mentors, most notably with Blake and Adam’s bromance and Christina’s tension with the others. Where will Gwen fit in? It’s also worth noting that Stefani has worked with one of her potential chair-mates: Pharrell (with The Neptunes) produced her breakout solo single “Hollaback Girl,” and she contributed vocals to his 2005 solo single “Can I Have It Like That.”

'The Voice': Who's on our Top 12 power list?

Now that the playoffs are over, this season of The Voice has found its Top 12, and it’s time to vote!

You’ve read the recap, and now I present my most updated Power List, ranking the players on where they stand in the competition as of the playoff performances on Tuesday, April 15. Remember, we’ve seen these artists so spread out throughout the year that next week’s first live show will be a sprightly reminder of comparing them all on the same playing field. That explains the major jumps in this list from last week to this week.

What goes into this power list? It’s partly my predictions about how far these people will make it through the competition, coupled with what you’re all saying in the comments, as well as my own tastes, although those may or may not be reflected. (If it was strictly based on my personal preference, Bria Kelly would be at the far bottom, and Kristen Merlin would be significantly higher, for instance.)

Here’s who’s on top and who’s on the bottom as we head into the live shows on Monday: READ FULL STORY

'The Voice': Who's on our Top 20 power list?

If you’ve stuck with the sixth season of The Voice, you may be incredibly relieved to know that we’ve finally arrived at the Top 20, narrowing down some less-than-stellar talent to the best of the best. Or, most of the best. In truth, there are still some stragglers who have yet to prove themselves, but the playoff rounds (beginning April 8) should weed out the less impressive folks and leave us with a pretty nifty Top 12, worthy of performing in front of the voting public.

Before the next round begins, here’s the breakdown for this season’s first power list. Two more players from each team will be knocked off before the live shows begin, so logic takes precedence here. It’s worth pointing out that Team Shakira’s players barely crack the top ten, while the other three coaches each stand a chance of winning.

Check it out, and yell at me if you disagree. I can take it. READ FULL STORY

'The Voice': Who should replace CeeLo?

CeeLo Green is done with The Voice, it seems. And that means one thing: The producers have a swiveling chair to fill.

Now, while I’m sad about his departure — judging panel chemistry is hard to find; just ask The X Factor — I have to admit that I’m not Simon-Cowell-leaving-Idol devastated. More than a loss, this is an opportunity. And it should not be squandered.  READ FULL STORY

Who will win 'The Voice'? Will Tessanne, Will, or Jacquie leave season five on a high note? -- POLL

You, loyal and unflinching Voice fan, deserve a pat on the back. Or at least a new couch. After weeks of rooting and voting for your favorite singers, you’ll get a big musical sigh of relief tonight when the Season Five winner is announced.

Like any journey, there were some ups and downs. How about that Twitter instant save that quickly became the Twitter instant save curse? Or upsets like Matthew Schuler going home before the semifinals? Or coach Blake Shelton never taking coach Christina Aguilera fishing, like he promised? But let’s not forget the high notes. Schuler’s crowd-swaying performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Tessanne Chin’s blind audition of Pink’s “Try.” Jacquie Lee’s power-belting sustained notes in Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You.” Or Will Champlin’s gender-bending performance of Etta James’ “At Last.”

But we would love to know ahead of tonight’s finale, who do you think will win Season Five of The Voice? Will it be perennial clutch-singer Will Champlin? Do Jacquie Lee’s preternatural vocal abilities make her the rightful 2013 title-holder? Or is it time for Tessanne Chin to take her Jamaica-honed talents to North America?
