But that doesn’t mean the Today show host knows who the Real Housewives of New York City star is! Gifford stopped by SiriusXM’s EW Radio for TV Editors Hour, and in a chat with Jessica Shaw and Tanner Stransky about her Gift wine brand, KLG recounted an awkward moment when Singer cornered her for marriage advice. When The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered in 2006, the show was nothing more than a harmless look at the lives of wealthy women living in a gated community in Southern California with their families. The show was a response to the popular ABC series Desperate Housewives and America’s growing love of reality TV at the time. People became so invested in the scripted TV characters that it was easy to get invested in their real-life counterparts because they were so similar (you know, aside from all the murder on Wisteria Lane).
But as the years went on, the series expanded to different cities across the country and grew in popularity, and the housewives became household names. And the fame that has resulted from being a cast member on the show has gone from a nice perk to part of the plot. READ FULL STORY

The Real Housewives of New York breakout star, who was also a runner-up on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, had her own Bravo spin-off called Bethenny Ever After, pens a book series, and sells both a wildly successful liquor line and a nutrition line — phew! It’s brisk business trying to keep up with this reality Renaissance woman. And today, Frankel’s newest venture — a talk show called Bethenny – premiered after a six-week test run on six Fox affiliates during the summer of 2012. Ellen Degeneres, a huge fun of the acid-tongued reality star, serves as executive producer of the show.
