What Would Ryan Lochte Do? premiered this week to some questionable reviews (okay, okay, and some snark from us). So when we caught up with Lochte at the Wild Turkey American Honey Celebrity Kickball event today we wanted to get to the bottom of some burning questions we had after the premiere (like for real, introduce us to that dog): READ FULL STORY

”Seriously how are they gonna get enough material?” asked anchor Mike Jerrick after a ridiculous interview with Ryan Lochte. That right there, that is the question. About halfway through the show Ryan’s mom asks him what he’s been doing and we see a quick montage of what has happened in the episode up to that point. Ryan coyly tells his mom ”Nothing,” and nothing in the history of the world has been more true. There’s even a part where he says his life is like Seinfeld so even he knows it’s a show about nothing (minus the comedy—and genius).
“These are my shoes that I designed, from top to the very sole, to the very top to the bottom… laces.” And so we begin. After what seem like infinite uses of Lochte’s frindled #Jeah mantra (which doesn’t actually mean anything), a lot of closet shots, and Lochte telling his trainer he’s going to get a couple of beers, we get to a glorious flag football section. Even professional athletes secretly want to be rock stars.
ESPN The Magazine has put out a music issue — on newsstands Feb. 8 — explaining that sports and music are more intertwined than ever. As part of that coverage, the magazine got a bunch of athletes to recreate iconic album covers – everything from Alex Morgan showing she’s One of the Boys (above) to Allyson Felix posing at Beyoncé.
Over on ESPN’s website, they have behind-the-scenes pictures and videos of each athlete getting into character, which means you can check out the details behind Felix giving her fiercest face as Bey, or Ryan Lochte floating in a pool (of course) a la Nirvana. They also have athlete playlists, if you think that may finally be the thing that gets you to the gym.
Check out Lochte’s album cover below, and head over to ESPN for more. READ FULL STORY
Ryan Lochte is probably getting his own reality show. EW previously reported that he was interested in either Dancing with the Stars or being the new Bachelor, but it seems Lochte had more individual stardom dreams. According to Celebuzz, Lochte said he is in talks with E! to get his own series. What on earth would it be about?
“Pretty much, they follow me on my normal day, just training, doing my own fashion line,” he said in a video interview with the site.
After watching his interviews with Matt Lauer, it’s hard to imagine him carrying an entire show, but I’m going to envision a couple scenarios on how Living Lochte could play out: READ FULL STORY
Suffering through Olympics withdrawal?
Hollywood hears you — and from the looks of things, they’re trying to cash-in on some of the once-every-four-years magic.
EW has confirmed that the upcoming film Beached, directed by Jon Turteltaub, will center on a 4-year-old child who falls overboard, is raised by whales, and goes on to become a champion swimmer. (It also sounds somewhat similar to the Disney Channel movie The Thirteenth Year, which means I’m definitely going to buy a ticket.) READ FULL STORY
After making headlines in Sin City, Ryan Lochte is in New York City today for appearances on Today and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Matt Lauer grilled him this morning on his recent race with Prince Harry in a Las Vegas pool. “His people came over to my table and said, Hey, Prince Harry wants to meet you,’” Lochte says. “I was like, ‘Alright, yeah, let’s go meet him.’ So I went over there, met him. I was, like, fully clothed, so was he. He was like, ‘Hey, you want to do somethin’?’ I was like, ‘What?’ He was like, ‘You want to race me in the pool?’ I was like, ‘Alright, let’s go.’ I just took off my shirt, and we jumped in, and we just started racing.” READ FULL STORY

In the understatement of the Summer Games, not to mention the year, Ryan Lochte is sort of having a moment. Yes, yes, Michael Phelps is still great (most decorated Olympian of all time, etc.) but Lochte — unfortunate grill and all — seems poised to capture some more glory post-London — and yes, we’re talking Hollywood. And no, we’re not talking about the fashion line he’s desperate to make happen.
The swimmer already appeared in a questionable Funny or Die video, and there have been rumors floating around that Lochte is being considered for either Dancing with the Stars or the new Bachelor (spokespeople for both shows told EW that the programs never comment on casting rumors). Lochte himself told Matt Lauer, “I’m definitely looking towards Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor, so we’ll see what happens.”
Bachelor host Chris Harrison even added his two cents, tweeting, “@fleissmeister just told me he liked Ryan Lochte in his speedo so much he’s now on short list for
It’s not the worst idea. Thanks to his mom, we all know Lochte is currently single. Tell me I’m not the only one who has a morbid curiosity what a “Ryan Lochte Most. Shocking. Rose. Ceremony. Ever.” would look like. As for Dancing, many former Olympians (Shawn Johnson, Apolo Ohno) have had success cashing in their name recognition and competitive spirit for sequins and ridiculousness.
Beyond reality shows, a buzzy Michael Phelps hosted Saturday Night Live in September 2008 (with so-so results) after returning from the Games. Will Lochte follow swimsuit?
