'Time' announces Person of the Year: Pope Francis


Miley Cyrus will have to make do with being named MTV’s Artist of the Year.

Time magazine — which is owned by Time Inc. like EW, announced its “Person of the Year” this morning, and the honor goes not to the one who is always twerking, but one who is working to rebrand the church and re-emphasize the importance of helping others.

“[Pope Francis] took the name of a humble saint and then called for a church of healing,” Time explains of the choice, referring to him as “The People’s Pope.” “The first non-European pope in 1,200 years is poised to transform a place that measures change by the century.” READ FULL STORY

Barbara Walters' 'Most Fascinating People' of 2013: Miley Cyrus, Kimye, Prince George, and more

It’s that time of the year again, when Barbara Walters decides what exactly it means to be fascinating.

To make the list this year, it seems you either had to have a rebirth in your career, give birth to one of the most anticipated celebrity babies ever, or just simply be born. Walters announced nine out of the 10 spots for her annual special¬†Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year.¬†The final and “most fascinating” spot is traditionally kept under wraps until the air date, this year on Dec. 18 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
