Paris Hilton slams fake Nelson Mandela tweet: 'Get a life and stop talking about mine'

In the wake of Nelson Mandela’s death Thursday, many celebrities took to social media, including Oprah Winfrey and Morgan Freeman, to express their condolences for the late South African president. And shortly after the news broke, blogs re-posted a tweet allegedly sent out by socialite Paris Hilton confusing Mandela with Martin Luther King Jr.

Here’s a look at the tweet:

Halloween in Hollywood: Paris Hilton, Fergie, Hugh Hefner, and more celebs in costume -- PHOTOS

It should surprise absolutely no one that people who get paid to dress up for a living go all out when dressing up for Halloween.

While the actual holiday isn’t until Thursday, many celebs celebrated this weekend instead (including Julianne Hough, who probably wishes she could get a redo on her costume), sharing their elaborate looks through social media. Let’s take a look at some of the best getups — and, of course, the multiple Mileys.

We’ll start with our first Miley Cyrus costume in the group: Playboy mastermind Hugh Hefner and wife Crystal Harris as Robin Thicke and Miley at the VMAs.

Bret Easton Ellis thought it would be a good idea to defend Paris Hilton

When somebody calls gay people “disgusting” and says that “most of them probably have AIDS,” the natural human reaction is to agree with them.

Wait — no it isn’t! So what the heck is up with Bret Easton Ellis?

Over the weekend, the controversial writer sent a controversial pair of controversial tweets: “I kind of agree with Paris Hilton,” followed by “As someone who has used Grindr? Paris Hilton isn’t that far off.”

But this isn’t the first time Ellis has antagonized the gay community on Twitter.  READ FULL STORY

When reality stars sing: Whose tune is the worst of all?

When reality stars sing, the results can be totally inoffensive (Brooke Hogan’s career) or surprisingly decent (Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind” — seriously, it’s like a watered-down “Underneath It All”! In a good way!). More often, though, their songs are auto-tuned nightmares and tone-deaf raps, music that makes you yearn for a sweet shot of Adele to take the pain away.

In that vein, I offer up Teen Mom Farrah Abraham’s new single. Is it the worst piece of “music” in recorded history? It’s possible — though Abraham’s got some serious competition from other misguided reality crooners. Let’s survey the candidates, then decide which is the most rotten apple at the very bottom of the barrel:

Farrah Abraham (Teen Mom), “Getting Up from Rock Bottom”
The Lowdown: Knowing that this 21-year-old mother has endured substance abuse, depression, and her boyfriend’s death might make you feel bad about crapping all over her musical venture. But when a song is this dismal, it’s tough to practice the golden rule. Be sure to turn your speakers down before hitting “Play” on the linked SoundCloud file, unless you’d like to suffer from Pounding Eardrum Syndrome.
Worst Lyrics: Vocal effects are applied so thickly that you can’t really understand a word Abraham is yelping. Blessing in disguise?

Ken you believe it? Ukrainian woman possibly tranforms into real-life Barbie

Looks like one very motivated Ukrainian woman has beat Nicki Minaj to the punch in becoming a real-life Barbie. Or has she? After a Facebook page popped up for impossibly doll-like Ukrainian model Valeria Lukyanova, 21, the Internet is abuzz with questions of whether she is a real girl or simply a plaything for avid Photoshoppers.

It’s hard to judge based on Lukyanova’s beyond-tiny waist and kewpie-on-acid-sized eyes. That her Facebook page was only started four days ago and has swiftly been flooded with perfectly manicured images does reek of a better looking Catfish. Regardless, Lukyanova’s popularity is growing by the minute (at time of press, she had more than 21,000 “Likes”). Either way, sorry Paris Hilton and Top Model‘s Allison Harvard, you’ve been replaced.

Diva-tastic Paris Hilton storms out of ABC News interview

Guys… it’s time to start taking Paris Hilton seriously.

But actually.

This morning, ABC News aired footage of Hilton from a taped interview with reporter Dan Harris, in which Hilton talked openly about her show, her $1-billion product empire, and her personal life. In a bizarre, bipolar moment, however, Hilton revealed her touchy side: When asked on-camera about her reality show’s ratings compared with those of her onetime celebutante protégée Kim Kardashian’s, the hard-partying heiress walked off the set. Watch it below. READ FULL STORY

Good for you, America: You don't care about Paris Hilton anymore!

There was a time when it seemed like Paris Hilton was one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. She may not have invented the notion of “famous for being famous,” but she perfected it, running roughshod over the first decade of this brave new millennium. She was inescapable. She had a reality show, or two. She had a music career, and I use both terms loosely. She was on the cover of classy magazines and tabloid magazines, thus shattering the difference between the two, until the very definition of “quality” began to seem fuzzy. She was at the center of the Lohan-Spears-Hilton party girl continuum which threatened the very fabric of our nation, apparently. But time rolls ever on. Seasons pass. Things change. And, despite ourselves, we learn from our past mistakes. Thus, The World According to Paris — Hilton’s new reality show about the perils of being Paris Hilton — debuted to blessedly low ratings on Wednesday. Congratulations, America! It only took eight years, untold millions of dollars, a relentless onslaught of media gasbaggery (that’s us!), and the entire career of Nicole Richie, but you have successfully weaned yourself off of your Paris addiction. (Don’t worry about Ms. Hilton: Something tells me she’ll be just fine.)

Paris Hilton says new reality series will show true self: Too late?

five, ten years ago. I wasn’t really comfortable with myself,” Reuters reports. “I have been through so much. I have nothing to hide. It’s like, what else can happen? I was ready to show myself.”

Is it too late, or is the perfect time for Paris to return? In the “too late” column, you have the arguments that she’s been eclipsed by the Kardashians; that we don’t trust that we’ll see the true Paris even with an all-access pass to her friends, house, and business; and that even if we were to, would anything surprise us at this point? Arguments for this being the right time for Paris to show her true colors is that we’d all be fascinated to see how Lindsay Lohan exists, but peeking on Paris makes us feel less guilty; it would be nice to know how exactly she fills a day; and there is always the chance that we’ll see her as a real person like we did Jessica Simpson when Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica first began. That’s really the goal here, right? Let’s take it to a vote after the jump.  READ FULL STORY

Paris Hilton speaks: What are the things no celebrity should say?

Promoting her new shoe line in Mexico, Paris Hilton gave an interview to the Associated Press in which she said at least two of the things we commoners never want to hear a celebrity say:

1. “There’s so many people out there who try to imitate what I do but I am the original. There is nothing like me.” (A little bit of fake modesty, even while pretending Kim Kardashian hasn’t eclipsed you, would go a long way.)  READ FULL STORY

hilton-reinhardtImage Credit: Denise Truscello/WireImage.comWas there something contaminating the celebrity water supply this week? Tanner investigates here on PopWatch. READ FULL STORY
