'The X Factor': On the scene for the Jackson family invasion. Or: Prince Jackson, spit out your gum!

It’s been a while since I last stepped into The X Factor‘s Cylon basestar Galaga rollerderby Xanadome, so maybe it’s normal to see Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul milling outside the studio with a pregnant Kaitlin Olsen of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I’m just saying that that is at least three orders of magnitude of pop-culture coolness higher than pretty much any celebrity that’s come within spitting distance of the Idoldome. Maybe Paul and Olsen were tipped off that the Jackson dynasty would be plopping the late Michael Jackson’s children into the X Factor eardrum shatter factory to promote a new Cirque du Soleil show, and they wanted to be there to witness the circle of (mega-celebrity) life sprout anew. Me, I just happened to luck into it.

Listen: If you’ve come here for juicy gossip and spicy scuttlebutt and flavorful flibbertigibbeting about Prince, Paris, and Blanket Jackson, you’re going to leave disappointed. 'Dancing With the Stars': On set for the semifinals -- and into Tristan's trailer! -- VIDEO

Last week, when I attended the liiiiiiiiive tapings of Dancing With the Stars’ Monday and Tuesday shows, I also had the honor of becoming fast friends with a giant mirrorball I’d found in the prop cage. Just kidding! Burying the lede! I got to hang out with Our Cutest and Most Irish Pro Tristan MacManus — in and around his trailer!

If the 29-year-old dancer truly is a leprechaun like everyone says, then they sure have given him a big house-on-wheels in which to luxuriate and roll around seductively in his heaps of colorful marshmallows and gold. Watch the videos: READ FULL STORY »

'Breaking Dawn' midnight screening: Blood, sweat, and tears (and, of course, a movie)

Some said they arrived at 5 p.m., a full seven hours before they could hand over their ticket — purchased two weeks ago — to get into last night’s sold-out midnight screening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1. Or the sold-out 12:06 a.m. screening…or the sold-out 12:11 a.m. screening…or the sold-out 12:16 a.m. screening. The United Artists Kaufman Astoria theater in New York City, like so many other theaters around the country, attempted to accommodate Twi-hard demand with a multitude of options slotted well past midnight. (A tip of the hat to any movie theater employee that works on nights like these. It cannot be easy.)

As a newbie to the Twilight midnight showing experience (and oh, is it an experience), I arrived at 10:30 p.m. It was pretty obvious I had zero chance at getting a good seat — the lobby and theater area (pictured) were packed to the brim with (mostly) girls in their late teens and early 20s (though I spotted a few reluctant boyfriends here and there), all out far past reasonable bedtimes and curfews. 'The X Factor' on the scene: A look behind all that Astro and Stacy drama

Last night’s The X Factor show concluded with all sorts of unexpected, juicy, normally seen-on-Bravo drama. It started with Astro prefacing his survival performance with these words: “I really don’t want to perform. I feel like it’s unnecessary.” And then moments later, the 15-year-old rapper told America, “I feel like if you’re going to put me in the bottom two, I don’t want to perform for people who don’t want me here.” This comment effectively turned the entire Xanadome against the kid. 'The X Factor' on the scene: Rihanna, audience questions, and... glow sticks?

Before heading out to last night’s The X Factor, I spent a few hours watching Syfy’s new Peter Pan miniseries Neverland, which features man-eating spiders, 10-legged crocodiles, and Bob Hoskins. Yet all of those fantastical creatures were nothing compared to what awaited me inside the Xanadome: an audience that was absolutely bonkers. They were crazy loud, reaching a decibel level comparable to a symphony of jackhammers. They were crazy energetic, sometimes jumping up and down as frequently as this adorable dog. And some of them were simply crazy crazy, like a woman in the audience who, during a commercial break, delivered an incomprehensible speech in support of LeRoy Bell — a speech that, for reasons that’ll be debated for centuries to come, ended with the words “women power!”

So when Bill the Warmup Host allowed the audience to ask the judges a few questions at the end of the show, you can imagine some of the inquiries were, um, interesting. In case anyone blinked and missed it, that tiny low-budget indie film with the sparkly vampires and ab-tastic werewolves is premiering tonight in Los Angeles. Thousands of fans have been lined up since Thursday for the chance to catch a glimpse of the stars of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, but below you can watch live footage of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Green and all of your favorite stars as they walk the black carpet. The fans were all a-Twittah last night at The X Factor’s Xanadome. Not only did fireball Willow Smith prove that even pretending to sing is not necessary if you want to have a career as a singer, but the overall crowd favorite went home after a (barely) superior last chance performance. As Nicole Scherzinger would probably say, it was wild maaan.

Last night’s show was ultimately very long and drawn out, and the audience didn’t get to spend much time with the busy judges. Still, as always, there were things going on behind the scenes that you simply could not see on TV. Mainly the coming undone of Paula Abdul. On the scene: 'Twilight' fans line up FIVE DAYS before 'Breaking Dawn' red carpet premiere

Dedicated, borderline obsessive Twilight fans have been a much-discussed phenomenon ever since Robert Pattinson donned his first pair of fangs, but even the most fanatical of the Cullenites would be impressed by the flock currently gathered outside of L.A. Live. Starting at 6 a.m. PT on Thursday, Summit began admitting fans into the massive tent city constructed outside of L.A. Live’s Nokia Theater, where they will wait anxiously for the chance to see their favorite stars at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 red carpet premiere – on Monday. 'The X Factor': Flirty Astro, those 'Glee' kids, and everything else you didn't see on TV

Are my ears ringing? Is my Marcus Canty-loving heart all aflutter? Am I experiencing severe Simon Cowell snark withdrawals? Yes, yes, and yes, which means that last night was most definitely X-Factor live show night. Wednesday’s powerhouse performances made last week’s show seem tame in comparison, resulting in an infectious energy that spread to the whole raucous crowd. Actually, scratch that. It was an infectious energy that spread to everybody but famed mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell, whose intimidating stone face never flinched during any of the 11 performances.

Luckily, Chuck was the only one. Most of The X Factor‘s movie night was broadcast nationwide, but, as always, there were plenty of things that you simply couldn’t see on TV. The judges were all warm, interactive, and friendly, and the audience was treated to everything from a Paula Abdul diss to a visit from McKinley High’s glee club. Many apologies if some of the things that I’m saying here sound irrelevant, or maybe even a little bit silly. In my defense, stepping into The X Factor‘s Adam-B.-Vary-christened Xanadome causes immediate side effects of hearing loss, confusion, mass hysteria — just total sensory overload. In other words, it’s fun!

A lot of this fun (and plenty of heartbreak) was delivered straight to your television for your viewing pleasure, but, as always, there were plenty of things that you didn’t see on TV last night. To get the full scoop you should probably consult the two diehard “Simon groupies” from Iowa who were sitting next to me, because those ladies made the Idol junkies look amateur. They each donated $2,000 to charity for their tickets! But for now you’re stuck with me, and I can tell you that most of the judges were feeling the heat last night. Simon Cowell could barely sit still, and Paula Abdul was giving out group hugs as if they were candy.
