'Star Wars' Day: Chris Daughtry, Ben Folds audition for the Mos Eisley Cantina band -- VIDEO

It’s tough out there for a musician in the middle of a galactic war. But there’s one place quality performers are always in high demand, and that’s the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Even some of Earth’s biggest music stars covet a gig in the Tatooine hive of scum and villainy — at least if you’re to believe this video from College Humor.

The comedy site partnered with Lucasfilm for this parody, released just in time for Star Wars Day. Chris Daughtry, Ben Folds, Liz Phair, Reggie Watts, Mark McGrath, Jordin Sparks, Rick Springfield, Weird Al, Lisa Loeb, and mc chris — or rather, their Star Wars Universe alter-egos — all try out for a role in Figrin D’an’s legendary band the Modal Nodes. The auditions don’t go very well. READ FULL STORY

'Mark McGrath & Friends Cruise' is no more

The “Mark McGrath & Friends Cruise” — a musical sea adventure scheduled for the fall that would have featured Sugar Ray, the Spin Doctors, Smash Mouth and other stars from a time when our stars all had frosted tips in their hair — has been cancelled, according to an announcement posted on the event’s website and Facebook. (Both have since been deleted.)

What happened? Speculation so far is a mixture of “that poop cruise [the one involving a stranded Carnival cruise ship and days of accumulating human waste] did us no favors,” from McGrath himself, and “tickets were $649,” from everyone else.

The unlucky heartbroken among us have two options: 1) Call and ask after a refund and/or 2) Listen to “Every Morning” radio on Spotify and remember a happier time when you bought copies of “The Best of Sugar Ray” for everyone in your family.

That’s what I’ve been doing and I’m pretty sure no one can see my tears.

Mark McGrath marries longtime girlfriend

Sugar Ray lead singer Mark McGrath and longtime girlfriend Carin Kingsland got married Monday in Southern California, People reports. The pair got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2009; McGrath proposed at the L.A. club the Viper Room — the spot where they met in 1994.

“After 18 years of breakups, makeups, beautiful twins and an unwavering love that provided some pretty damn good song lyrics, we are happy to announce that we are finally married!” the rocker, 44, and his bride, 39, told People. Their 2-year-old son Lydon and daughter Hartley served as the ring bearer and flower girl.

The former Celebrity Apprentice contestant and Don’t Forget the Lyrics! game show host will embark on a South American tour with Sugar Ray in October.
