About that Mama June cameo in 'Dumb and Dumber To'...

If you happen to see Dumb and Dumber To this weekend–and I’m not at all advising that you do–you will, indeed, see that Bill Murray cameo that’s got the town buzzing. But you’ll also see another cameo by someone slightly less beloved these days: Here Comes Honey Boo Boo madre June Shannon, a.k.a. Mama June. The final film features a fantasy sequence in which Lloyd (Jim Carrey) imagines rescuing Harry’s (Jeff Daniels) gorgeous adult daughter from a trailer park in which Harry is hitched to none other than McIntyre, Georgia’s most controversial current export.

Shannon recently came under fire after the confirmation that she was allegedly dating a convicted sex offender, according to the state of Georgia’s sex offender registry. Shannon then revealed Thursday in an exclusive interview to Entertainment Tonight that she is also involved with a second sex offender—who happens to be the father of two of her children—and was featured on a 2005 episode of NBC’s Dateline-serial To Catch a Predator. (In related news, TLC canceled the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after four seasons last month in the wake of the original controversy.) So it begs the question: Should a madcap comedy contain all that unsavory baggage for an unsuspecting public seeking easy laughs?

Universal Pictures, the film’s distributor, had no comment for EW on the matter, but in truth, Shannon’s appearance (fully billed in the end credits) is little more than a single line of dialogue and a few grimaces from her oft-GIF’d and meme’d mug. But the trailer-park milieu for the scene is kind of troubling, not to mention that Carrey’s character is essentially lusting for a girl half his age even in the non-fantasy scenes. (A personal observation: Nobody groused at or even seemed to notice Mama June when she appeared in the all-media screening I attended.) But given that D&D To is already struggling to garner critical plaudits (though early weekend gross projections seems encouraging), it’s very possible that Jennifer Lawrence had the right idea all along by jumping out of the movie’s cameo pool.

'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' premiere: Season 2's 18 greatest quotes, so far

The second season of the decline and fall of western civilization Here Comes Honey Boo Boo premiered tonight on TLC — and it’s safe to say that fame and fortune haven’t changed the Thompson clan one lick.

They’re still living in a modest single-family home in tiny McIntyre, Georgia. They’re still eating their special brand of locally-sourced cuisine (on the menu tonight: roadkill pig!). They’re still making their own fun, breaking out buckets of butter for impromptu food fights and throwing a Dukes of Hazzard — sorry, that’s Dukesy Hazzard — theme party for patriarch Sugar Bear’s birthday.

And, of course, they’re still doing wondrous, eminently quotable things to the English language — which viewers like you can enjoy at home, thanks to TLC’s helpful subtitles. What are the lines you’ll be repeating incredulously over brunch this weekend? Try these:

Our imaginary vows for 'Honey Boo Boo' stars Mama June and Sugar Bear

Dearly beloved, we are gathered today to celebrate the recommitment of Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson to June “Mama” Shannon, his shack ‘em up mate of almost nine years. This is — probably — not a wedding. This is a ceremony to celebrate the beauty of love, the brightness of orange, and the sanctity of camo.

The “groom” will now read his vows*, followed by the “bride.”

*vows are equal parts quotation and wishful thinking

13 reasons the world is ending tomorrow

Don’t let those eggheads at NASA try to fool you: The world will end on 12/21/12, just as the Mayans predicted centuries ago. (An actual excerpt from their prophetic tablet: “That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane — Lenny Bruce is not afraid.” Such an advanced culture!)

How do I know the end is near? Because the signs of an imminent apocalypse have been coming all year — signs like these:

This morning, Facebook announced its “2012 Year in Review,” a series of lists of the top trends of the year. And befitting a website that boasts hundreds of millions of users, popular, youth-skewing taste ruled the day — with one very hairy exception.

Honey Boo Boo fakes sleep to avoid answering Dr. Drew's questions -- VIDEO

Someone get Honey Boo Boo child her go-go juice, stat — she’s falling asleep!

A barefoot and agitated Honey Boo Boo feigned sleep yesterday in the middle of an interview with Dr. Drew in order to avoid answering his questions. The 7-year-old reality star, whose real name is Alana Thompson, has been making talk-show rounds for the last week, acting more and more restless with each interview. She groaned, snored, and flailed her arms to no avail yesterday, ultimately yelling “My fans come up to me and I hate it!” in response to Drew’s question about whether she likes being on TV. Season 2 of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will certainly be entertaining.

Maybe Dr. Drew should stick to interviewing celebrity drug addicts and pregnant teens — they’re usually more responsive.

Honey Boo Boo performs classic Christopher Walken lines -- VIDEO

You gotta have more go-go juice!

Here comes…more Honey Boo Boo videos. How should you feel about that? You could make an argument that the joke is over and that the entire Honey Boo Boo clan needs to disappear from TV stat. You could also say that they’re having fun, are no worse than the Kardashians (high praise?), and that there are bigger causes one should take up.

Loving it? Needing it to end? Either way you’ll probably have an opinion on this newest video, courtesy of Screen Junkies. Last week, they had the cast of Seven Psychopaths – including Christopher Walken — read Here Comes Honey Boo Boo dialogue. Thanks to Walken, the results went viral. Now, the tables have turned.

After watching this clip of Honey Boo Boo (Alana) and Mama June reading famous Walken lines, I promise you that it will make you laugh/ roll your eyes/ sigh. When Mama June shares that she doesn’t like big words, you can chuckle at / weep for/ re-evalute your life choices. When you realize all of this won’t be over anytime soon (TLC has picked up the show for some holiday specials, and more episodes are all but a guarantee), be prepared to cheer and book your DVR/ look into reading more / continue to ignore.
