MTV Movie Awards: Rebel Wilson's most outrageous jokes

MTV Movie Awards host Rebel Wilson is known for a particularly uncomfortable brand of comedy. Witness: Pitch Perfect‘s Fat Amy, who told the Barden Bellas she adopted the moniker “so skinny bitches like you don’t do it behind my back.” Considering the fact that at least one promo for tonight’s show featured a punchline in which Wilson found her in a compromising position regarding Channing Tatum’s junk, it seemed clear that the Aussie hostess wouldn’t spare the salacious.

To her credit, Wilson didn’t go the safe route. Most of her jokes fell on the absurdist side of the comedy spectrum rather than the conventional, Poconos-style yuks that hosts generally adopt for these occasions. (The one exception, in her intro of Kerry Washington: “Our next presenter is one of the few actresses that plays strong black women more than Tyler Perry.”) Whether her one-liners landed or not, they certainly delivered an across-the-board jaw-drop factor.

Below, we run down Wilson’s most obscene, sometimes cringe-worthy, lines from the 2013 ceremony. READ FULL STORY

MTV Movie Awards: Sneak peek of Rebel Wilson in 'Magic Mike' -- VIDEO

The MTV Movie Awards has always relished a movie parody. If this leaked clip of Rebel Wilson’s “never-before-seen” Magic Mike cameo is any indication of what’s in store tonight, this year’s show won’t disappoint. In the clip, Matthew McConaughey’s (only slightly dubbed) Dallas introduces “Pregnant,” a baby bumped-up Wilson, to the Xquisite stage.

The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) looks on in horrified bemusement as “Pregnant” — decked out in spandex shorts, cowboy boots, a mesh top, and a Mia Wallace-wig – struts out  to Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push It” and gyrates. Naturally, the ladies in the crowd go wild. She even gets an unexpected dance partner (hint: it’s not Channing Tatum).

If even Mike warned, “You don’t want to know what I have to do for twenties,” we’re guessing you really don’t want to know how far this gal’ll go…. Check it out below.

Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, and more: Which Sexiest Man Alive was the sexiest at the Oscars? -- POLL

Despite the shiny hair and even shinier dresses of Hollywood’s leading ladies at last night’s Oscars, I found my eye wandering to the dapper leading men. Whether the actors were dancing on stage, growing sophisticated beards, or winning major awards, as my eye wandered I realized what many of these handsome men had in common: seven of them had been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Denzel Washington earned the title in 1996, George Clooney in 1997, Richard Gere in 1999, Ben Affleck in 2002, Clooney again in 2006, Hugh Jackman in 2008, Bradley Cooper in 2011, and Channing Tatum in 2012.

So which of the Sexiest Men Alive was the sexiest last night? Were you struck by Clooney’s beard, Cooper’s slicked-back hair, Washington’s ageless charm, Jackman’s chivalry, Affleck’s tears, Tatum’s dance moves, or Gere’s glasses? Cast your vote in the poll below!

Nominated for Nothing: 'Magic Mike'

Just about every year, brilliant movies are utterly ignored by the Oscars. The Searchers, Groundhog Day, Breathless, King Kong, Casino Royale, Touch of Evil, Caddyshack, Mean Streets, The Big Lebowski — the Academy has a long history of overlooking comedies, action movies, horror flicks, hard-boiled genre pics, artsy foreign films, and documentaries that aren’t about World War II. This year, we’ll be taking a closer look at films that were too small, too weird, or perhaps simply too awesome for the Academy Awards. These are the Non-Nominees.

The Film: Affectionately known as “Channing Tatum’s stripper movie,” the Steven Soderbergh film is about man at a crossroads: Does “Magic Mike” keep grinding his moneymaker to bank those singles he’s saving to start his own custom-furniture business, or, does mentoring a fresh face (Alex Pettyfer) for his shady boss (Matthew McConaughey) make him see that he’s losing more than he’s gained and hang up his G-string for good?

Why it Wasn’t Nominated: EW’s Owen Gleiberman gave the movie an A-, so we could pretend this had an actual chance to follow in The Full Monty‘s footsteps and garner a nod as one of the year’s Top 10 (or nine) best pictures. But even with Soderbergh’s name attached, no one wanted to take this film seriously. (Especially the people who paid to see it multiple times even though they thought there wasn’t enough stripping and that Cody Horn, as Tatum’s love interest, was way too wooden.) The real snub here is that McConaughey, who’s picked up supporting actor honors from the New York Film Critics and National Society of Film Critics among others this awards season, didn’t score his first Oscar nomination for playing narcissistic club owner Dallas. The critics remember their summer raves for McConaughey’s commitment, but the buzz had faded by the time Academy members got to voting: Only one acting nomination this year came from a film with a U.S. release date before September, and that’s Beasts of the Southern Wild’s lead actress Quvenzhane Wallis. Another uphill battle: All supporting actor nominees this year have not only been nominated before, they’ve all won before. But perhaps the biggest mountain for McConaughey to climb was the idea that him playing a shirtless beefcake with a chill vibe and his eye on the prize (moving the revue from Tampa to Miami) wasn’t a stretch. (We didn’t penalize Alan Arkin for playing Argo‘s acerbic movie producer, did we?) READ FULL STORY

Best of 2012: On-screen couples with great chemistry

Whether they’re dancing half-naked on national TV or playing undercover cops in a film, the chemistry between these couples is undeniable. And with a superhero, the “sexiest man alive,” and an all-star on our list, it only makes sense that these studs’ other halves would be perfectly content with the match-up.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, The Amazing Spider-Man
Stone and Garfield made such a convincing super couple in the film that they were ”bitten” off-screen as well. Their chemistry was palpable anytime they shared a scene, especially during their romantic rooftop kiss when the webslinger swept Gwen Stacy off her dainty feet.

People‘s reveal of Channing Tatum as the “sexiest man alive” completely overshadowed The Onion‘s announcement yesterday of their pick for 2012′s sexiest beast — Kim Jong-un. Sure, his abs and pecks are less blinding than Tatum’s (or more, depending on how you look at it), but North Korea’s supreme leader deserves to share the limelight!

Channing Tatum named 'People's Sexiest Man Alive

people-channing-tatum.jpg

After the Bradley Cooper/Ryan Gosling contretemps of 2011, it’s difficult to argue with People‘s choice for this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. Not only does Channing Tatum look the part, but he’s wrapping up a calendar year where he proved he was funny (21 Jump Street and Saturday Night Live), sweet and sensitive (The Vow), and had the moves of a stripper (Magic Mike). All three of those movies topped more than $110 million at the box office, and he was a main attraction in each.

“My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me,’” the 32-year-old Tatum, who married actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009, told the magazine. “I told Jenna after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked.”

“People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don’t know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is,” Dewan-Tatum, 31, told People “He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get.”
