Music and entertainment moguls Jay Z and Beyonce have no need to watch the throne as they top Forbes‘ list of the highest-earning celebrity couples for the second year in a row. The power duo earned an estimated $95 million between the two of them from June 2012 and June 2013. With one album, two world tours, and a plethora of other business including a sports agency, fragrance collection, and clothing line, the couple certainly have kept busy this year to earn almost $100 million. The list, which bases its estimates from talks with managers, producers, and other industry insiders, combines the earnings of each celeb in the couple as determined in Forbes‘ Celebrity 100 list. Queen Bey knows what success feels like. She’s a successful businesswoman, a successful wife, a successful mother, a successful singer … basically, if you look up “success” in the dictionary, there will be a ridiculously gorgeous, uber glamorous shot of Beyonce’s face. But the good thing about Bey is that she likes to share her wealth of knowledge with her fans through her music. So today, to celebrate the 32nd birthday of the Queen of Pop, we’ve rounded up 32 important life lessons that we might never have learned if it weren’t for Bey belting them out (while also performing a challenging dance routine in high heels). Check out her best lyrical lessons below: READ FULL STORY
Oh to be the couple known as Beyonce and Jay-Z. Fans can’t stop you from singing impeccably. Negative album reviews won’t deter you from selling a ton of records. Even rumors of not having an album at all won’t hold you down.
And in case their awesomeness was ever in question, just watch this cute moment from the Philadelphia stop on Beyonce’s “Mrs. Carter” world tour. Looks like the reigning — and the notoriously quiet — King and Queen of Music are a-Okay in the marriage department. Check out a sweet kiss that Jay runs out and plants on B around the one minute-mark: READ FULL STORY
Last night, while singing “Halo” during the Montreal stop of her Mrs. Carter tour, Queen B found herself caught in one of her many stage wind fans. Stage hands tried to help, eventually getting her free. And Beyonce? She powered through the song like the Queen that she is, never missing a beat.
It was quite a hairy situation for Beyonce; it seems that no matter how hard she sang, her fans just wouldn’t let her go — it even became the mane attraction. It’s unbeweavable that she was able to sing such a hair-raising rendition of “Halo” (OK, I’m done.) Beyonce playfully instagrammed the event after her concert and if you want to check out the instantly-viral moment, just look below. READ FULL STORY
After losing out on the No. 1 spot in 2012, Oprah is once again sitting on top of the Celebrity 100 throne. In my dreams, Oprah is currently lip-synching and dancing along to Yeezy’s “I Am a God” in one of her massive mansions.
And Bey responded by taking what is hers… with fire and blood. Or, you know, by telling the slapper that she’d have security escort him out of her Copenhagen concert, then just singing “Irreplaceable” like nothing had happened. That’s how you get to be Queen B.
TIME magazine prefers to be diplomatic and doesn’t rank its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, which was announced today. But let’s be frank: in the world of entertainment, Jennifer Lawrence is nonpareil. The 22-year-old Oscar winner and star of the Hunger Games blockbuster franchise was lauded by none other than Jodie Foster, her director from The Beaver and one of the few actresses to attain Lawrence’s critical and popular success — and more importantly, know how to translate it into real influence.
“Sure, this girl can act. But, man, this girl can also just be,” Foster wrote, describing seeing early cuts of Lawrence’s Oscar-nominated performance in Winter’s Bone. “All of those painful secrets in her face, the feeling that there’s some terrible past that’s left impossibly angled bone and weariness in its wake. She’s worn from the pain of living — something none of her characters would ever have the energy to articulate. It’s just part of her, like skin and muscle. The good news is that Jen, her good-humored, ballsy, free-spirited alter ego with the husky voice and a propensity for junk food … Jen, the spritely tomboy from Kentucky — that Jen’s got it together. A hoot. A gem. A gem with a killer stare.”
