….AGAIN! Has your ranking changed since last week?

Despite the judges’ manipulative efforts to convince viewers Amber Holcomb is both a “current. hot. NOW.” superstar and their new best friend, she still landed in the bottom two along with Candice Glover. Will top-two vote-getters Kree Harrison and Angie Miller suffer from fans assuming they’re safe?

Who should judge 'American Idol'?

american-idol.jpg

We all should, really, for being so LAME. As rumored this week, Idol may shake up its entire judging panel next season in an effort to boost ratings. It’s getting beaten in the adult demo by repeats of The Big Bang Theory and a fresh-from-the-swamp ep of Duck Dynasty. Oof. Does the show even matter anymore? It’s, like, way existential. 'American Idol': Did Angie Miller win Top 4 night?

american-idol-angie-miller.jpg

The final four ladies — Angie Miller (pictured), Amber Holcomb, Candice Glover, and Kree Harrison — performed a song of their own choosing and then a “one hit wonder,” which apparently called for a time warp. Nothing from later than the ’70s! In it to win it tonight! “I think you’re so current and so now,” Randy Jackson lied through his teeth to Amber after she sang “MacArthur Park.” It was the judges’ most manipulative night yet, which is saying a LOT.

Full ‘American Idol’ recap: The Judges Lie 23 Times

The judges claimed Angie won the night, criticized Candice for being old-fashioned, and demanded more from Kree — beautiful vocals are not enough. Meanwhile, Amber is the girl Nicki Minaj would most like to be friends with. Just in case you were on the edge of your seat wondering whom to vote for in this singing competition.

Who sang best tonight? Check out the song list below…. READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol' 2013: Name your Top 4 Power List!

AMERICAN-IDOL-TOP-4.jpg

It’s hard to rank the all-very-deserving final four, as each has her own unique singing style. At this point the competition boils down to personal taste. I keep wondering how much sway the judges and their rampant standing Os really have. Last week they seemed to be gunning the hardest for Kree Harrison and Amber Holcomb — but both have now landed in the bottom two, while Angie Miller and Candice Glover haven’t.

'American Idol': Thoughts on Top 5's Divas Night?

american-idol.jpg

Tonight, Idol did its best to downplay the reign of Candice Glover — she sang powerfully, but the judges raved more about both of Kree Harrison’s songs as well as the second offerings of Angie Miller and Amber Holcomb. Janelle Arthur no longer exists.

During the first round, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey engaged in a tedious tiff re: who was disagreeing with whom (no one, really, since the judges’ comments are blending together at this point), which was perhaps appropriate as tonight was DIVA NIGHT — full recap here. Nicki made sure to politely pay homage to Mariah’s royal status in round two. READ FULL STORY »

Now that Idol‘s gotten rid of all those pesky males they never even wanted to let through security, it’s up to Angie, Candice, Janelle, Kree, and Amber (left to right) to prove that the winner of season 12 should be a woman even if the concept of blatant producer manipulation did not exist. So let’s hear it, ladies! Tonight the Top 5 will take on two themes: “Divas” and “Birth Year.” My Power List is below — leave your own in the comments…. READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol': Lazaro Arbos knows enough words for just one song on Motown Week

American-Idol-Burnell-Devin-Lazaro.jpg

How do you solve a problem like Lazaro (pictured, right)? The ice cream scooper with an extreme stutter, 21, really just doesn’t know any of the words to any of the songs! Somehow he got through Stevie Wonder’s “Once in My Life” with no tears-inducing hiccups for his tepid Motown Week solo (full recap here) — perhaps he’d heard it before, or listened to it thousands of times over the weekend. But his subsequent trio with Burnell Taylor (left) and Devin Velez on “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)” was a complete disaster. Lazaro looked like he was about to cry the whole time, and the guys received a thorough lashing from judge Nicki Minaj. “Don’t ever do that. All three of you, go. Go! Go! Get off the stage!” (RUDE.)

When Ryan Seacrest gently nudged the guys to discuss what happened (ALSO RUDE), Burnell muttered “Not to throw anyone under the bus, but…” and then Devin explained, “I learned my parts. I tried saving a couple people, but…”

“I didn’t know the words that well,” Lazaro strained to say.
