ps, I also agree with Whitney's take that it was a refreshing change to see a women-centric movie that ISN'T "The Women" or otherwise still centered around men. Female director, too, and I think it was one of her first pictures, so I give points for that, too--not all new directors do as well.

I saw it at Sundance and I was really charmed by it. I was sad to hear that it hadn't gotten distribution but I guess not entirely surprised. I think it's a good movie, though. One thing I liked was that in the Q&A with the director, someone asked the Alan Arkin question, and she said "if you get a shot at Alan Arkin, you take it"--and that made perfect sense to me!

I saw this movie at a test screening a year or so ago and it just died with the audience, so I'm not the least bit surprised that it has had trouble finding distribution. It's all premise and mediocre execution, and the results are a whole lot more morose than the trailer lets on. Among its many problems, the usually reliable Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are not remotely believable as sisters.

Looks good - and Steve Zahn is a bonus. I'll probably add it to my Netflix queue (hey, high praise from me - I've only seen 2 movies in the theater this year).
