Muppet Kanye: Olympic Stud of the Day...?

Ok, so technically he is competing in the "Unified Games," not the Olympics. Also he is technically some sort of Muppet-like creature that looks (somewhat) like famous rapper Kanye West, not a real human athlete. But come on! Have you seen that little puppet sprint? So much heart. So much adversity overcome. So much use of the word "champion." Just check out the Jason Lezak-esque victory from behind he pulls off in Kanye's new music video (below; h/t). If that doesn't qualify as Olympically studly, I dunno what does. What do you say — 'Ye or nay?

I don't know if that was so amazing. The Puppet did look a hell of a lot like him though. Could have been better. Maybe they should take a few writing tips from Digitalfuntown.com

I give that puppet a "meh".

Anne Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 01:26 PM EST

And, bonus, Lochte is Hot. Like Phelps, but hot he ain't.

Well, if the Muppet doesn't make the cut, you just know what Kanye's going to say: "HELL NO!"

Tate Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 09:46 AM EST

Oops, I meant golds. But you all knew that...

Tate Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 09:46 AM EST

Until the IOC strips those Chinese preteen gymnasts of their gols, I'm voting for the muppet.

Lauri Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 09:44 AM EST

I nominate Ryan Lochte. For years he's been under Phelps' shadow and he finally won his first individual gold medal last night. Congrats Ryan!

Not even NBC's announcer expected Rebecca Soni to pull off a win in that race, much less grab a new world record. What a great moment!

Karikata Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 09:06 AM EST

I nominate Co-Studs Rebecca Soni and Nastia Liukin. Soni because she upset gold favorite Leisel Jones AND got a world record and Liukin for doing a wonderful job and winning all-around despite the horrible scores given by a biased judging panel. Honorable mentions: Lochte for having the audacity lol of beating favored teammate Peirsol and Johnson for doing a flawless floor routine and getting silver.

Jackie Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 09:03 AM EST

What about whatever gymnast used the theme from 'Pirates of the Carribean' as her floor routine song? I heard it when Nastia and Shawn were on the beam I think and I FREAKED out. Gymnastics to Pirates? Brillz.

I don't think muppet Kayne is the actual OSD. They're just having fun because of the video.

Nay Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 08:31 AM EST

With all the great performances last night and you want to nominate a muppet. I love the muppets but in no way does one deserve to be stud of the day

PhelpsPhan Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 08:27 AM EST

The ONLY choice for Olympic Stud of today should be Nastia Liukin. Finally someone other than the Chinese won a gold medal in the gymnastics competition. She deserves to be stud of the day - with an honorable mention to Shawn Johnson, who made it the first ever gold-silver double in gymnastics for the US.

nastia liukin. at first i was rooting for shawn johnson bec she's just so adorable, but then nastia showed her finesse and grace in the balance beam and floor. when she started tearing up when the announcer said "gold medalist and olympic champion," i lost it as well.

Silv Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 07:54 AM EST

I nominate Nastia Liukin. Such elegance, talent, and powerful talent all wrapped up in one graceful young lady. She made the U.S. proud last night..

jcarla Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 07:30 AM EST

Great. Now I will be laughing whenever I hear that song on my ipod.

Cool Steely Dan sample.
