Comic-Con: Screaming throng greets 'Twilight' cast

Jul 24, 2008, 08:18 PM | by Nicole Sperling

Categories: Comic-Con 2008, Twilight

Twilight_l More girls than ever crammed themselves into Comic-Con's Hall H this afternoon — and it wasn't just to see clips from the Dakota Fanning futuristic actioner Push and the Nicolas Cage apocalyptic drama Knowing. No, they were there for the panel they'd long been waiting for: Twilight. And from the moment convention staffers placed the name tags of the Twilight cast on the dais, the ladies in the crowd never stopped screaming. The film's actors seemed completely overwhelmed by the rabid Twilight fans. "This all baffles me," said the British star Robert Pattinson. "Its nice though, it's nice." Director Catherine Hardwicke, meanwhile, brought along part of the climactic ballet-studio scene, which put the screaming fans into a even more of a tizzy than the promise that Pattinson sang Bella's lullaby himself. Twilight goes up against The Day the Earth Stood Still on Dec. 12, and if today's reaction is any indication, Earth's aliens should be very afraid of Stephenie Meyer's vampires.

OMG totally love twilight. How can you not!!! Ive got all my friends on to it and they love it too. Even some the guys have read and liked it so dont say its just 4 girls!

Sharon Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 05:01 PM EST

I am 34 yrs old and I have read the Twilight series and I think its awesome!I could hardly put the books down once I started reading,I have a seven yr old son who is anxious to see the movie too. So I guess that makes me a Twilight Mom!

Sabrina Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 04:46 PM EST

Sam, You are an IDIOT if you think it is a good idea too post crap about Twilight ( Best Book EVER!) on a fansite. I mean really? So get a LIFE and figure out a better hobby than trash talking good books! Good books that are read outside of the U.S.!

Jane Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 01:53 PM EST

I just want to say to Sam that this series of books ARE read outside of the US. My friend from Australia was the one who got me started reading them. She tells me that they are actually more popular there than they are here. Just thought you might want to know what you are talking about before you say anything!

I absolutely cannot wait for the movie to come out, I just hope that it doesn't ruin my visions in my mind as to what it should be like. So far though I think good people have been chosen to play the part of Bella and Edward, I am so excited!!!!!!! I was one of those people who kept seeeing her books and hearing things about Stephenie Meyer, and so I finally bought the first one then read it and now I have bought the 2nd and 3rd, I need to read fast!!! I can say that this is the first book I have read entirely since I graduated high school in 2006. It is so beautiful, and interesting and intriquing, ahh I love it :)

XxlirxX Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

OME I can't wait for the movie!! This is going to be awesome. All you people who hate Twilighters can just...you know... shut up.

If you don't like hearing Twilighters anywhere than just shut up about it. And if you want to post how much you hate Twilight don't post it here. Please.

kalyn Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 12:05 PM EST

yeah okay SAM! wow cool your a woman. congrats on that. how long did that take you to find out?

hmmm and really a teen soft porn saga for unloved woman? they're teenagers for christ sake, so i dont imagine them having too much of a a love life thank you.you dont need to come barging onto this site where many teenage girls are and offend them like that. that was so insanely disrespectful IM BAFFLED to hear that crap come out of your mouth. your pathetic grow up.oh no nvm your a grown woman so you think you know every god damn thing there is to know about the twilight world right.

id like to see you come up with something better. maybe pulling that stick out of your ass might help you get started? good luck it seems to be wedged up there pretty darn good.

Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

I am a teenage girl who is ecstatic about Breaking Dawn as well as the movie, however, the obsessive fans saying things like "Bite me any day, Edward" are ridiculous. I mean, you do realize that he's a fictional character and therefore, doesn't exist, right? I do love the books and have read all three numerous times, but the Edward Bella relationship seems at the very least a little unhealthy. I mean, possessive much? And I can't even count how many bumper stickers on Facebook there are pertaining to Twilight. Get a life, folks. They're books. The characters don't exist. You can't marry them.

Jean Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 03:24 AM EST

Ugh yeah, if I was up there on the panel I would be a little nervous with overzealous fans screaming every 5 seconds too. I mean seriously, I'm a fan too but even I can see how hysteric/crazy some people can get.

"Its nice though, it's nice."

When Robert said that, I have a feeling he was thinking 'Wow, calm down sheesh'.

Ashley Cullen Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 01:01 AM EST

WOW! This movie is going to be phenomenal! I really hope it represents the book well. I love Twilight more than any other book I've ever read. I can't put into words how excited I am! I think the cast is great and that they will do an amazing job.

budd Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 08:38 PM EST

While I agree that Dakota Fanning only said a quick hi and sorry, she still made more sense than the entire cast that was present for Twilight. They were very fidgity and were only able to offer giggles whenever questions were directed to them. I was completely turned off by their behaviour which is greatly influencing me to avoid this film.

Amy Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 06:48 PM EST

On another note, the panel was great! It had to be very nerve racking to come out and hear all those screaming fans. Yes, even though they are all actors, their nerves can get to them. They all were great though. Rachelle is hillarious, very witty. Edi was so cool. Taylor handled it all so well... and so on, and so on.... Some of the questions were very uncalled for and disrespectful of the actors. They are people, and should be treated with respect, not as object. Oh, and I am 35 and read these books, no I have my 31 year old sister and 13 year old daughter hooked. BTW- Stephenie Meyer wrote Twilight for herself, she wasn't writing it for a teen.... There are people of all ages who love these books... Gasp!

Amy Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 06:42 PM EST

Budd, I was there, Dakota Fanning wasn't able to show up until the very end when the Twilight panel left. She was stuck in 7 hours of traffic, and basically just said "Sorry I couldn't make it to the panel, thank you for coming...." Where were you Budd, you don't even know what you are talking about.

Briana Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 06:04 PM EST

The cast is just what i imagined. Rob and Kristen are perfect for the roles. i cannot believe breaking dawn is almost here! i have been waiting for months. my friends and i are so pysched. i cant wait for the opening night party! so many questions i still have from eclipse. does she become a vamp? do they forreal get married? I CAN'T WAIT.:)

P.S.- i really feel bad for haters, they dont see the real joy that us twilight fans get from it. its too bad.

Kathryn Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 02:05 PM EST

I can't express how excited I am. Yes, I'm another teenager on the brink of insanity due to Stephenie Meyer's ever popular Twilight series, but so what? These books have a great story to them, and I love each character (though I will always prefer Jacob the most!) I really really wish I could personally thank Stephenie for this series, which got me through the boredom. Last thing...Yay!

Caitlin Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 01:41 PM EST

Omg sam your like so mean
and ur wrong people outside of the "global teen angst community of US" have actually heard of it. but since you obviously don't like twilight you wouldn't have known that fact.
And omg i just a harry potter movie and everytime i saw robert i saw edward not cedric haha XD

budd Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

completely unprofessional behaviour by these young actors...dakota fanning attended earlier and at least made coherent and thoughtful statements...these actors appeared rather under the influence...

MariePattinson Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:42 PM EST

The comments to the haters are hilarious! I agree, they should get a life. Twilight,New Moon and Eclipse rocks! Can't wait for Breaking Dawn cause if its anything like the other books its going to be phenomenal!! The movie I'm sure will be fabulous. Can't wait for that too.
P.S. I LOVE YOU ROB! MARRY ME, MARRY ME, MARRY ME!!!

Brynne Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 06:36 PM EST

Okay so Sam your a moron if your plan was to come on to a TWILIGHT article where TWILIGHT fans will be reading and then bash TWILIGHT. Very poor planning on your part.
anyways i saw the full ballet scene and thought it was OMG AMAZING!
And that picture of Rob is shmexy!
ANyone who apposes to twilight should spend there time doing something useful like helping manatees not bashing a series because they have nothing better to do.

OMG I almost forgot!
I heard that Stephenie gave something frome breaking dawn to the EW and theyre gonna post it monday! *SQUEE* i cant wait! i ESPECIALLY cant wait for the book!

p.s. Rob is still hatter than a habanero and jalepeno put together!

Lexy Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 04:27 PM EST

I am so looking forward to the 4th!! however i ask everyone who is in america not to post spoilers during the two days when you lucky people have the books and us poor brits have to wait two whole days!!! there aren't even any release parties or midnight openings or anything!!! Also i would like it is someone from america could explain to me the obsession with british accents, i think that emmet's voice is super sexy and edward's is awesome but doesnt seem to have the wowy omg super hott british voice that some people get from rob, is that just because i am used to english accents?? at least he has a real british accent rather than a silly (insert county with stupid accent here) one!!! xxx

Alice rocks Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

Sam, get a life!!!! I am a 26 year old wife and mother, I love twilight. It gives people a chance to dream about how perfect and imperfect love can be. Why are you on here if you hate Twilight so much? Do you have to stamp down others to make you feel good? On another note I just recently got into Twilight and I am hopelessly hooked. I have read all three books with in two weeks and I cant wait until Breaking Dawn comes out this weekend. I am going to the release part at my local Barnes and Noble and I know I will be in good company. I happen to live in Portland, where you all know the movie was shot (near it anyway) and I cant wait to see the movie to pick out the locals that I can actually go see. If any one is interested I know that one scene takes place at Multmomah Falls, very beautiful. Hope Sam falls of the wonderful face of the Twilight earth so we can all sit back and enjoy are Edward induced hallucinations!

Cullengrl13 Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 01:16 PM EST

I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Sam, don't post, amongst a group of Twilight fans no less, vile comments about it. If you hate it so much, why read the articles and browse the blogs? I'm an adult woman, turned onto the series by my neice and my OLDER sister (ivy league educated, by the way)and I have turned all of my adult women friends into complete Twilighters. No matter that the prose isn't Shakespere, or that the movie isn't cast with Oscar winners; it's all about losing yourself in a wonderful world about two beautifully drawn characters created by a talented author. Go post hate blogs where they would be appreciated, unless you enjoy being vilified.

Laur Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 11:12 AM EST

I'm not supporting the haters who comment on here, but just leave them alone. It's just giving them more attention than they deserve. If they want to hate the book and the movie, then they are just ignorant and missing out on one of the best series written. Anyway, I love the books, and it is really amazing to see that Robert Pattinson is going to be just like I always imagined Edward. Especially since he is actually singing Bella's lullaby! BTW, only six more days until Breaking Dawn!

Bekah Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 11:11 AM EST

Okay- I've read the books- and I will be showing up to get my copy at midnight on August 1st.

But these books do have some serious problems- problems that I am willing to overlook because the story has me sucked into my high school teenage fantasy and wish fulfillment of that really hot guy who is totally in love with me even though I am plain and boring.

So do I love the stories- yes. But are the stories "like totally awesomely well written"? No! the prose is static and at times it makes me blush because I am embarrassed that it is so cheesy. the parts Meyers nails are pretty awesome. I felt sick in Italy before they left the castle. I was on edge with the James thing. Victoria totally creeps me out. But the relationship- sure it is pleasant. But really- the relationship is juvenile, Bella doesn't consider the consequences of, well, anything and she has no motivation other than this weird high-school-esque lust/infatuation.

I do love the story- but its got some problems.

twihard Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:25 AM EST

sam,u need 2 understand simple facts in life such as:twilight is the BEST,and when u write something negative about it where all of the fans can c,u r SO going 2 get hate mail.if u knew anything about literature,u would b with us fans at midnight buying the final book.so read it again, and if u still do not like it,do not comment

rosalie hale Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:21 AM EST

sam,u obviously do not understand anything about women, books,or movies.cuz if u did, u would b waiting with us twihards/twilighters at midnight getting breaking dawn and screaming your head off during the movie.so save ur self the hate mail and don`t post anything else unless it is u saying u luv the book.

holly Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

lol I meant have NOT been written properly...oops.

Holly Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:55 PM EST

Ok, that's it. I've read some comments of people saying Twilight sucks, and that it's poorly written. Ok, dude, you seriously are either freaking blind or are sh*ting me. Twilight is awesome, and it's perfectly written, and absolutley turns other books into trash in comperison. Like no joke. The funny thing is, that it's actually realistic, even with the vampires. It makes the vampires look like they're actually real and amongst us, which is pretty scary, but that just goes to show how good it is. Twilight is not just for teens, it's for adults too. Everyone reads it. If you don't like the book than why bother even reading it, or even better, why would you write a comment that you will clearly get you b*tched at later for? It's stupid and unreasonable. Twilight rocks and there are many fans. I understand if you don't like it, but don't say that it's poorly written, because if it is, than most of the books out there have been written properly as well. :)

Heather Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:46 PM EST

There is nothing sexier than unrequited love. All the great literature from the medieval chansons de geste to Twilight carry some element of it. Where would we be without Jane Austen, Petrarch, or Shakespeare? Why do fans feel so passionate about Twilight? Because most of us have felt the angst of unrequited love at some point in our lives! It equalizes young and old, human and vampire. As a teacher, scholar, and prolific reader I think that it is dangerous to tell people what to read and not read. It is important and enjoyable to read a variety of literature just as it is to enjoy a variety of music or movies. While Twilight may not be nobel prize material it is engaging and entertaining. I expect the movie to be the same.

Shana Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 05:27 PM EST

Wow, Sam, you have a very strong negative opinion about other peoples post that its sad. U do know that you sound like a bitter old hag who can't comprehend a clearly writtn story right? The others opinion about u however is pretty hilarious though! And what the hell is a 'soft porn'? its eithr a porn or not. I'm a 24 year old woman who has been reading since the age of 3 and I have to say that the twilight books have been one of the best I've read. People around the world feels the same way, thats why the saga has won countless awards. I'm certain that Breaking Dawn will definitely be number one and the Movie will be a box office hit the first day. Word of advise Sam, read the book again. Maybe three more times and while your at it, have a dictionary close by, cause obviously, your a little slow. Next time you criticize a book make sure you have your facts straight. Other wise, you'll just like an idiot Sam.

Bee Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:58 PM EST

If you hate it soo much, why are you even bothering commenting? Its almost like with the Howard Stern audiences, most of his listeners were haters yet they continued to listen to him intently. The few differences are that the Twilight Saga has more fans than haters and that the fans are even more passionate about Twilight than the radio jockey. The similarity would be that haters like Christi and Sam will most likely continue to check out the websites for the movie and book, just as much as any fan or maybe more. Just remember haters, YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THE BOOK, so whether you hate it or not, you just gave Stephenie Meyer another dollar in her pocket. In the end, it doesn't matter. So shut up and get a life!!!

melanie Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:49 PM EST

totally can't wait for Breaking Dawn to come out. Im wearing my Mrs. Cullen shirt to the release party...

http://twilightshirts.com/shirt/mrscullen

VbPez Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:42 PM EST

First and foremost, SAM, you should have known that by writing something negative about the twilight saga means that you will encounter many hate comments. This is one of them. Obviously you didn't understand the book all that well. Your only correct description about it is that it is a teen book, even though it also reached other women readers, like myself, interest and continue to love it. When you say 'unloved women,' thats when I knew that you must have a fifth-grade reading level. Because its not women, its woman, only Bella and the whole book is about unconditional love and the things a person would sacrifice to keep it. Also, the fan base of the saga is so incredibly massive that MANY like EW wants to be apart of it so that their website would attract fans. If you've been paying attention, then you should know that any website that features twilight has been overwhelmed with new fans so I doubt that Summit has to push the movie (not garbage) towards any website.

xyz Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

I am an adult woman- a mother of 4 children and I LOVE the Twilight series. Although many teems love them too, it is just as good for adults. I know so many women who feel the same. So- Sam, and Christi and other adult critics- you must just have horrible taste or you havent read the books. I LOVE the twilight series and am anxiously counting down the days until Breaking Dawn.

Mayi Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:09 PM EST

Awww....aliens should be afraid of Stephenie Meyer's vampires...they're just better!!!!^_^
I wish i was there...

Sam Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 03:37 PM EST

I am a woman and I have to say, I am baffled reading how ridiculous the posts here are! For real, I am almost vomiting. The book is a teen soft porn saga for unloved women. The trailers look insanely bad, even worse than a B TV serie or even Smallville. The acting is beyond terrible, and I want to know how much Summit is paying for EW to push this garbage as the next global success (only remembering that outside the "global teen angst community of US", no one heard about this piece of sh*t).

THE REAL BELLA Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:59 PM EST

OK I addmitt I am not bella! but I wiish! OMG I CANT BELIVE HE WILL BE SINING THE LULBY *HIGH PICHED GIRLY SQEULE* OMG!!! ANY THING SUNG BY A BRITESH GUY IS SO HOTT!!!!!!!!!!

Veronica Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:47 PM EST

I'm 30 years old and have totally turned into a geek over these books and the movie. I just discovered them when I got my EW and have read all three and scowered the internet for movie related stuff. It is all cosuming and not healthy. Books like this shouldn't be allowed to be written. Can't wait for Breaking Dawn and the movie. Congrats to Stephenie for creating such wonderful characters.

Claire Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:15 PM EST

OMG IM LIKE FLIPPING OUT HERE I CANT SHUT UP ABOUT TWILIGHT! My brother is all claire shut up its just a book and im like HEY ITS NOT JUST A BOOK ITS A MOVIE TOO AND THEY HAVE ROBERT PATTINSON! I swear the day this movie comes out i wont leave the theatre!

Bella Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:40 PM EST

Wow, I am so excited. I really wasn't expecting to like Rob but wow, to actually sing Bella's lullaby takes well, some nerve! I can't wait for December 12!!!!!!

missreiter Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

It's confirmed?!?! Why wasn't I informed of this? Ha, ha. So he really did write the lullaby! That is sooo cool. 12/12 is going to be awesome!!! I would've gone but.. I'm a little too far away.

lullabygirl Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:40 PM EST

rob pattinson is exactly how i thought edward would be! he's perfect and the chemistry between him and bella is wonderful! i am a huge fan of stephenie's books, she is a great writer and i'm always inspired to write after i read any of her books, (or even the first chapter of midnight sun on her website; yes, i admit it, i've read it several times) she is amazing, and this book is going to be amazing. as long as she keeps writing wonderful books and stories, i will be thrilled!

Chancy Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

Eve: I don't think the actors were "tweaked," but I do think they were all incredibly nervous and very bowled over by the amount of fans and the noise they were making. Being confronted by 6500 people screaming at the top of their lungs is bound to be a little intimidating.

To the person who says Twilight is for teens & pre-teens: sorry, you've been proven wrong again. Thirty here, and I have managed to turn several friends, male (yes, they are straight) and female, all in their 20s, 30s and even 40s, onto the Twilight series. All of us are interested in the movie because we want to see the story brought to life, just like the other Twilighters. We just aren't quite as...well...vocal about it, I guess! ;) But we don't love it any less. Its a wonderful story, and I'll be with plenty of Twilighters at my local B&N at midnight on 8/2!

Nadia Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:27 PM EST

Rob doesn't sing the lullaby. He wrote it on the piano. This was the best panel ever!!!! It was so amazing to be there (And I'm 23)

Lexi Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:25 PM EST

OMG i went on youtube and found all of the vids from the interviews and the extended scene and OMG OMG OMG!!! the scene was amazing. and kristen and rob and everybody are soo awesome. kristen's hilarious and so is rob! GAHH! i wish i couldve gone. im sooo excited!!! in the panel when stephenie started taking about breaking dawn (no spoilers though ppl) i almost jumped up and down and screamed! 7 LONG days. and kristen just kept on cracking the most hilarious jokes. I LOVE TWILIGHT!! GO ROB GO KRISETN GO STEPH GO CAM GO TAYLOR GO EVERYBODY!!!!!! hahahaha

Batman Fan Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 11:54 AM EST

Last Friday I saw The Dark Knight. When the logo for Summit came on screen during the trailers I heard gasps in the audience and it wasnt because they were anticipating Push.

Liz Ferguson Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 11:35 AM EST

Christi-u r so wrong!!! I'm 48 and fell in love w/this whole saga. My 14 yo daughter shared them with me and I've read the whole series 8 times! No--I do have a life, but these are great characters and while the proofreading left a little to be desired, the story is wonderful - and clean. It's something I feel good about referring to young readers to get them to read. We even went to THE HOST book signing and are attending the midnight party for BREAKING DAWN!!! And, we'll be going to the movie! This saga is NOT just for pre-teens & teens or just girls for that matter!!!

MaryUtah Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 11:06 AM EST

Sorry Christi, your wrong there. I'm 44 and got hooked on the books from my 30+ year old friends at work (I think it takes us back to that time in our lives when we had those dreamy crushes/fell in love forever! etc) Anway, along with my friends outside of work plan on going to movie on opening day - that is 11 women, 1 man over the age of 30 that will chose to see Twilight on Friday. I'll of course see The Day the Earth Stood Still that weekend.

I found the extended ballet scene they showed at Comic-Con and wow - I felt 16 again!

Ann + Edward Cullen Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 11:01 AM EST

Wow... just Wow...I am so excited about this movie. I actually told my family that we have to cancel our family vacation and reschedule it for a week later. Twilight is my life. And Edward has my heart. Seriously, he can bite me any day :-)

Kala Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:51 AM EST

I cannot wait for the movie to come out. Just to see it in picture rather than it playing over and over in my head is amazing. I'm waiting for breaking dawn and then the movie.. I cannot wait to see what else stephenie meyer has to offer and see all the other movies to come!

Scott Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:45 AM EST

"I cannot wait for Twilight to come out. Because then I don't have to read about it anymore." -- Quoted for truth from a comment below.

Eve Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:33 AM EST

I too went to CC just to see Twilight; I was so angry and embarrassed by the appearance and behavior of the lead actors who seemed to be "tweaking" and then by the fans (young and old) who were so imappropriate. WOW...was it just me?

Andrea Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:16 AM EST

I think that it is a little presumptuous when people assume that there is only one audience for a certain book. I am a big fan of Twilight and a mom without any teens in my house, yet. All my friends and my mom and sisters in law love the books. Honestly, we all need to take off our blinders and take a look around.

I love the book, the movie looks like it is going to be great! I just think that Stephenie Meyer has done something pretty spectacular and those of us who have taken the time to know her work appreciate that. I want to thank EW for taking us fan seriously and getting this interview and I can't wait until Monday when the exclusive tid-bit from Breaking Dawn is released!

Ashley Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:15 AM EST

I my word!! I was soo mad that i didn't get to go but i am sooo excited that the movie is comming out and breaking dawn!! I already pre-ordered it and everything!
I cant wait for those both and a lot of ppl say it is a chick book but i know TONS of guys who read them!
They are the best books ever!!!

bella+edward Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:08 AM EST

OMG! i was there too! it was awesome! It was the last movie to be shown so all of us twilighters had to sit through one painful hour before we saw the cast. They were great as well as the movie clip. Rob was so cute, but poor guy, he couldn't get a single word in without girls screaming. Kristen was pretty and she made a lot of jokes. actually, the whole cast was quite funny. it was really great. I can't wait for Breaking Dawn!

Savannah Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:07 AM EST

wow...i was there...it was THE most amazing experience of my life. I cant talk 2day because i spent the whole 45 minutes Twilight was on stage screaming "I LOVE YOU TAYLOR!!!" & "I LOVE YOU ROB!!!" =D I wish i could have met them though =/ the footage made my heart stop though...un believably flawless and absolutely 100% the BEST movie coming out this year

BigD Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:58 AM EST

Wow... just Wow... I mean I've seen some over zealous fans before but ya'll take the cake!! I am a 34 year old MALE (yes guy... and NOT gay) and I loved the books so far (I'm on book three if I can pry it out of my fiancé’s hands). I have to blame, no THANK her for getting me hooked on the series. The author, the story, the Twilight "universe", the plot twists, everything was/is great! It took me awhile to get into the series but I can now say that I'm a fan of Steph's work. She has sooooo much talent that it will not (IMHO) transfer to the big screen as accurately as it should. I'm glad I've read the fist two books before the movie comes out (hoping to have the third one read by then) so I can enjoy the movie (as I did with The Da Vinci book/movie). To all the guys out there (if you're reading this then you have SOME semblance of a life), don't be hatin' just pick up the books and read them. It took me almost half way through the second one to really get into it and enjoy it!

I feel for Rob a bit, I would have been incredibly scared in a situation like that! I am a huge Rob fan and a huge Twilgiht fan, but I wish they would have let them answer some DECENT and MEANINGFUL questions.

Barb Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:45 AM EST

I have to agree with Melissa i'm a 63 year old Grma & when I picked up the Twilight book I thought wow what wonderful writing & I too fell in love with the characters & have the other 2 books & I think I have read Twilight 5 times alread can't wait forAug 2nd & the Movie :)

I was there the whole day in Hall H.. and yes just to see the cast of Twilight.. once the name tags were place on the table the screaming began.. my head is still hurting today from the screaming i did.. the ballet studio action scene was great, i loved it.. Robert Pattinson is hotter in person.. his facial expressions were hillirious... and to comment on it only being a pre-teen thing.. i'm 22 and there were people there older then me screaming like crzy, talking about the books.. there were women there them same age of my mom there waiting for the cast of Twilight w/out kids by there sides.. Great books, can't wait for Breaking Dawn.. Looks like a great movie, can't wait for Dec. 12th..

It was a great Panel... LOVE THEM!!!!

Mary Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:39 AM EST

After reading some of the questions asked to the actors, I was kind of emberressed for them. I think some of the questions were a little overboard, but funny.

Oh an on a comment that was posted about Twilight only attracting pre-teen girls and teens. Sorry, but that is wrong. I am 20 years old and know many older women who have read the books and cant wait for the movie to come out.

Anyway, I believe that the movie is going to be great. I love the cast, and think that they are going to be awesome.

Melissa Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:25 AM EST

I have to make a comment to the person that claims that twilight is only pre-teen/teen...please!! maybe you should take a look around you more. I work in a field with 11-18 yr olds and their mothers/mothers friends are reading the books more than the kids are. I am a 27 year old mother and all my girlfriends have or are reading this. How can you not help but love something that captures the pure essence of your first love? I have to say that you guys that are "haters" need to LIGHTEN UP!

Kelly Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:15 AM EST

I never once doubted Robert when I heard he got the part as Edward. And I totally didn't understand why everyone hated him.

Just goes to show...

I WAS RIGHT! He IS going to be a great Edward!

Christi Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 08:45 AM EST

Twilight sucks. Sorry, but if you're not a teenage/pre-teen female, there really is no appeal. Poorly written book. The movie won't attract anyone other than pre-teen/teen girls who have yet to develop a discriminating taste in films. The Day the Earth Stood Still opens the same day as Twilight. On 12-12, marketers will finally be able to learn if young females hold greater buying power than everyone else combined.

aneesa Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 08:41 AM EST

OMG I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED. I LOVE that Rob is actually singing Bella's Lullabye, it's so important that it is very cool that they trusted it with him. Apparently not only is he singing it, well humming but anyway, he wrote Bella's Lullabye. OMG I can't wait to hear and see the movie OMG. One week till' the Midnight Release of BREAKING DAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSS I am so excited.

bethie Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 07:14 AM EST

I read "Twilight" recently just to see what all the excitement is about...thanks ew! I wasted a few $$ and a few brain cells. The Next Harry Potter - I think NOT. It is good teen fictioon, but other than that, I don't get all the hype.

Jessica Minozzo Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 06:13 AM EST

even though i wasnt there i screamed ALL the time!
and im so glad fans have embraced Robert cuz he is a great actor... i wish i went 2 comic connnnn =(

Wicked Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 05:55 AM EST

I wish I could have been there to see Rob. I'm pretty sure I could fall for him like I did for Edward! The movie is going to be so hard to get into! I can see the "sold out" signs now.

Kate Gibert Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 03:48 AM EST

i had tickets to this and i missed the event! :(

*~T_Nikki_BellA~* Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:40 AM EST

Ah yes, seeing the cast of Twilight was the highlight of my life! :) Well worth the 5 hour drive for me...I loved how nervous they all seemed! Robert wouldn't stop playing and pulling at his hair and was drinking TONS of water just to occupy his hands. It was adorable! Check out Youtube for video clips from the Q&A portion of it! I've seen a few on there and I will be posting mine too! (crappy quality but you'll get the gist!)

Mandy Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:38 AM EST

Robert Pattinson is going to be a big big movie star. Not because of his wonderful looks but his acting ability. Go check him out in the Haunted Airman. Brilliant. Cant wait to see him play Salvador Dali in November.

Amie Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:23 AM EST

Poor competitors. I imagine Twilight will make MILLIONS on opening weekend. I myself have been waiting for this movie since before they even started casting it.

ben Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:02 AM EST

Robert is so perfect - brilliant actor, brilliantly hot, charismatic, sexy, talented, muscial. Natural and not fake. Whats not to like. Nearly forgot funny and dry too.

Tal Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:24 AM EST

I wish I was there to see the fans bombard Rob, he has the best reactions. Is it true that an overzealous fan was arrested trying to get at him?

Lauren Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:50 AM EST

I agree with one of of the comments below me!!! Twilight should be the most anticapated movie until it's out!!!! (Sry ^ I Spelt that wrong I think)

Jaiskeez Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:42 AM EST

MaryUtah, it was amazing, like you won't be disappointed when it comes out, but we weren't aloud to video tape it at all.

MaryUtah Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:01 AM EST

Has anyone seen the extended scene from the presentation posted on the web yet? I've heard about it, but really want to see it!!

Michelle Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:44 PM EST

Ok, I must find the transcript. Sounds like everyone had an awesome time. I can't wait to see Robert as Edward. He sings too. It's official; the man is perfect.

Miranda Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:33 PM EST

I was there at COMIC CON and I saw TWILIGHT!!!!! it was sooooo awesome words cant describe it. i was really close to the front so i saw robert and all of his glory. lol I love robert pattinson!!! today was the BEST day of my life!! cant wait for the movie <3 TWILIGHT

Meredith Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:11 PM EST

AHHH!! I love Twilight!! i wish i could have been there!! it sounds like it was amazing!!

TwilightFan Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:33 PM EST

WHY WASN'T TWILIGHT IN THE FRONT FOR MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE ? THAT'S JUST WRONG BUT ANYWAYS ....

I cannot wait for this movie and I WILL WATCH IT MORE THAN ONCE !

TWILIGHT ROCKS !!!!

Sarah Jo Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:26 PM EST

could today be the best day of my life?? um yes considering the fact I WENT TO COMIC CONNNN and saw these gorgeus actors in person. it was beyond belief, I <3 twilight

Jadelynne Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:17 PM EST

I need to see clips of the panel, I've read the transcripts and it sounds so awesome!!

Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:47 PM EST

I cannot wait for Twilight to come out. Because then I don't have to read about it anymore.

Snarf Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:33 PM EST

Damn it! Wish I had been there to see it. This movie is going to be HUUUGE.

MaryUtah Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:03 PM EST

I'm glad the fans have finally embraced Rob as Edward - he and Kristen seem a bit overwhelmed in doing interviews and such, but it's cool to see actors who aren't always over-polished - the natural responses are much more interesting and 'human' (even for vampires!)

Team Switzerland FTW Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:38 PM EST

MOAR TWILIGHT PLZ!!! *fangasms*

Stacy Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:07 PM EST

I am so thrilled that Robert was received with such intensity. He makes an amazing edward.

alison Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 07:36 PM EST

So pleased all went well and thrilled Rob got such an amazing reception. He desrves it for creating a marvelous Edward.
