I actually really liked the pilot and I hope that it will becaome a hit show. I trust in JJ Abrams that he is able to create sth. big AND finally Josh Jackson will be back on TV which cannot be bad either! He potrayed his character in the pilot really convincing.

Saw the pilot...thought it was OUTSTANDING. Too bad people's reality soaked brains can't wrap themselves around a mystery anymore and would rather sit there and watch So You Think You Can Dance?

The problem is that all these new shows, Fringe, Dollhouse...they're all crap.
Bad writing, bad story, bad actors.
If all these supposed visionary people like Abrams or Whedon can't do anything good anymore, then they just need to give up.

I saw a Bit Torrent DVD of The Fringe. I wasn't likeing it for the first 10 minutes, but the story got beter. I'm looking forward to seeing the series, but I hope it follows a better story line than X-files did, never getting anywhere. The same can be said for LOST, we still don't know much about LOST, it answers one puzzling question with another.
The Fringe gave you clear ideas of what was happening, yet left enough room to imagine what else could be out there. If it starts getting silly, I will be forced to take it off my Tivo.

I am sad to hear that so many people found the pilot less then appealing. I have seen worse. It will be interesting to see how the show progresses. It will either be overrun by conspiracy theories, or it can focus on strange bio-terrorism/medical mysteries (cause we all know how that went, with Medical Investigation a few years back). Maybe we are tired of seeing pretty blond law enforcement women (CSI Miami, Without a Trace) scorned by a lover, which lead to rash decisions. Time will only tell where this story goes.

I saw a DVD screener of the pilot. It was, I'm sorry to say, really bad. Really bad. I was really looking forward to this one, but, save for a few nice production touches, it is a sci-fi channel show. The writing is startlingly weak, and the acting doesn't help. They brought in Pacey, and he's still doing Pacey. The girl is from Australia and she really struggles with her American accent. It's like a weak knock-off of X-Files. Too bad.

I honestly loved the pilot that leaked, it has only improved through repeat viewings. I am slightly surprised by the audiences reaction to it. I wonder if this is the 'tweaked' version that he promised to release in the fall or TV, or the same version that leaked.

I can't wait for Dollhouse (I love Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon!) but I worry about Fringe- the lead female doesn't seem to be someone I'll like all that much and that can sink a show. Would Pushing Daisies be the huge hit it is if not for a killer ensamble cast? Buffy, Firefly, CSI- it's all about the group dynamic. I can deal with Pacey but I'll wait and judge the other 2 when I see the pilot (which will hopefully be shorter because, yeah, not necessary)

Um, let's not get ahead of ourselves over Dollhouse okay? In all fairness, that sounds interesting with the plane (although what IS it with planes and J.J.?) and I will watch the first episode and give it a chance. Hopefully it's not a total ripoff of X-Files, in which case I think I'll just break out those DVDs instead.

i gotta say, i'm already not looking forward to this one. i think the casting's pretty awful (because olivia dunham look smore like a kindergarten teaher than an fbi agent...and pacey will always be pacey). i'm gonna go out on a limb here and call this one CANCELLED, along with DOLLHOUSE (dushku? meh) and i'ma gonna toos KNIGHT RIDER in there too for NBC (because REALLY). still love the JJ...just not the show...

my husband's co-worker, who really likes 'the x-files', got him a pirated copy of the pilot (BOOOOO i say to you, sir) and really enjoyed it.
but really, what just happened to the good ol' days of waiting and, you know, NOT trying to convince the public that your new show will be The Greatest Thing That Could Never Lead To Over-Hyped Dashed Expectations?

I thought this show was supposed to be amazing??? Other than Torchwood I have never been a fan of sci-fi or crime shows but I will be checking this one out solely because my inner 12 year old still yearns for Pacey Witter.

Does anyone else feel that this series is an attempt to recapture the X Files? And is it just me, or does that Dawsons Creek kid look EXACTLY THE SAME as he did years ago? Adding a scruffy beard doesn't make you look grown up, dude.
