Neil Patrick Harris was gracious enough a couple months ago to tell us about Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, the online musical minisode series he's starring in for Joss Whedon, in which he plays a hapless supervillain opposite Nathan Fillion (natch) as a stalwart hero named Captain Hammer and Felicia Day as the cute gal from the laundromat who Dr. Horrible can't muster up the nerve to talk to. Now comes a teaser for the project (the official MySpace page is here). Suit up, folks, this one looks like fun.

Well I have to say that its not true, I mean there are even similar comparison's to my story ( Since I've been tinkering around with since 2005 Now just getting around to getting it self published.) And it sucks because well, I never had the money to fully publish it. And everyone seems to have a pretty good advantage over me. Dr. Steel has been very encouraging to me with my work. Not accusing Joss of Anything. But the first rule in Hollywood is never tell anyone your ideas withought a Lawyer. I look forward to monopolizing on this ordeal.

I think the initial reaction of Dr. Steel fans was of an over-zealous nature, feeling the pinch of ‘too close for comfort’ when a big-named producer makes a show that in many ways does mirror Dr. Steel’s. That is not to say that Joss Whedon ripped him off, most of the elements are nothing new, but to put them all together in a similar fashion does raise the eyebrows.
But that’s neither here nor there. I doubt Joss is a theif.
Really now, there’s room enough on this big old planet of ours to enjoy BOTH mad scientists, and I figure there will be a lot of cross-over fans who love both, or who personally prefer one over the other.
That’s human nature - to have a preference.
So while hasty words and mis-applied zeal may have been the initial reaction, I think most everyone realizes that there is no need for any sort of ‘fan-war’ over this. Growing pains, and nothing more.
Be that as it may, Dr. Steel will always be my first love - … Mind Control Cookies… mmmmmmm..

Dr. Horrible is spawning quite a few fan videos. There are plenty of reviews and even "in world" bits.

I've been collecting them at http://www.wonderflonium.com

Dr. Horrible is an ORIGINAL STORY. I appreciate you want to give this third rate hack his last chance at any sort of recognition but don't do it by defaming other's creative work. (losers.)

And another thing, The toy Soldiers will never fall. We will fight to the bitter end to see Dr. Steel's vison of a Utopian Playland become reality. this imposter is an impediment to our plans.

The Steelcom Research and Developemnt Division will gladly endevour to disrupt this cheap imitator's efforts. Please leand a had if you can. Look out for our thread On toysodliersunite.com

This si blatant rip off of Dr. Steel. Dr. Steel has even been around since 1999. Who does this guy think he is to go around stealing our leader's visons, motif, and funny apparel? Sue, I say! Sue!

Toy Soldier SubZ Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

Toy Soldier SubZ reporting and this.. this sickens me. To degrade and attempt to destroy the good doctors image like this. How dare you attempt to harm the good doctors name. Doctor Steel is a good man, and he deserves much much more respect than this horrid “Dr. Horrible” theft.

The true site, the original, the genius, the man who deserves the respect. The music is irritating, the script are poorly written

As a loyal member of Dr. Steel’s Army of Toy Soldiers, I will see to it personally that Dr. Horrible is destroyed. http://www.toysoldiersunite.com

This is a forgery,if you want to know the truth visit http://worlddominationtoys.com/drsteel/enter.html
The idea, the look, even the title was stolen. I have been a soldier in Doctor steel s Army of toy soldiers for over four years now and i can attest to the fact that he was around first. As a matter of fact I bet Joss saw our demonstration at comic-con last year and ripped off the idea then.

GENIUS. Joss, NPH, Nathan Fillion (looking HOT)... and my favorite underrated Whedonverse gal, Felicia Day! NICE!

Love it love it LOVE IT. I literally have been waiting for this for months. My only complaint?
In the title is sing-along. Couldn't we have a preview? Of the singing? Please?!?

Raven_Moon Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 10:39 PM EST

Awesome.

Jessica Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 07:10 PM EST

I am so excited about this! Joss Whedon can do no wrong, NPH is legen..wait for it...dary, Felicia Day is adorably goofy, and Nathan Fillion is a molten hot lava bomb(if I may borrow some Randy-speak momentarily). Words can't express my fanatic-like joy over this!!!!

Coll Me Crazy Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

* The actress is Felicia Day, the star and creator of the award-winning web series "The Guild."

Queen of Disrepair Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 05:49 PM EST

NPH is swell. Joss Whedon is smart. Nathan is, like, all totally *sigh*....

MKS Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 04:58 PM EST

Ellipsian Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST
