Which trailer looks better: 'Dark Knight' or 'Indiana Jones'?

May 5, 2008, 11:46 AM | by Marc Bernardin

Categories: 'The Dark Knight', Film, I'm Just a Geek, Indiana Jones, Movie Trailers

If you went to see Iron Man this past weekend, odds are you saw the full trailers for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Dark Knight, two sequels I couldn't be more excited to see. But after taking in what I was sure was going to be a double-barrelled shot of unvarnished awesomeness, I came away a little bit — to borrow from Dark Knight's Harvey Dent — of two minds.

The Indy trailer gave me exactly what that first spot failed to: a sense of respect for my love of the character. I didn't need to be reminded who Indiana Jones was, I just needed to see him bring the derring do. This time around, they nailed it — more info about the crystal skull, more Marian, and more running-and-jumping-and-blowing-stuff-up from a spry Harrison Ford. (There were dudes in the theater who applauded after the trailer ended. I was too busy GRINNING.)

On the other hand, The Dark Knight also gave us more--more of the story, more of the cast besides Heath Ledger--but I came away less impressed. It was less evocative than the first trailer; less thematic. I've still got a lot of faith that Christopher Nolan will deliver a splendid flick — Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent looked especially promising (considering that the character had been played previously by both Billy Dee Williams and Tommy Lee Jones, he's got no place to go but up). But for me, these two were very much a case of one step forward, two steps back. (And, yes, you singing "Opposites Attract" is my own cruel Joker-y parting gift.)

What did you think? Still as jazzed as ever about these movies, or a little more cautious? And which one are you more stoked to see?

Ben adams sucks diks and can't spell, lol. Indiana Jones all the way!!!

Greg Tue, Jun 17, 2008 at 11:24 PM EST

Indiana Jones 4 wasn't all that good, possibly the worst of the franchise. Dark Knight looks like it is going to be the best of the franchise, but we can't know that for sure yet. I was excited for both though

ben adams Sat, May 31, 2008 at 06:21 PM EST

BATMAN IS SEXY THE INDIANAS JONES SUCKS DIKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

marxanzor Wed, May 28, 2008 at 12:23 AM EST

i jus saw the new indiana jones and it was awesome, better than the other three indys, but i think the dark knight is gonna top it. They both will be someof the top films this year along with iron man

Paul Tue, May 27, 2008 at 03:29 AM EST

INDY IS DEAD. He is best found on your dusty VHS shelf/drawer. Leave him be. The Batman is REBORN...ALIVE AND WELL!! All thanks to Christopher Nolan who revitalizes franchises, not desecrate their otherwise sterling legacies like Lucas and Spielberg.

anyone who thinks a 65 yr old harrison ford in indy "after the last crusade" is going to be better than the obviously most anticipated, most talked about, most f*ing awesome-ist movie in a while TDK. Is prob old and definitely stupid

jimbo Mon, May 19, 2008 at 03:00 AM EST

Dark knight will be the movie to beat. The first one was right on, raised the bar for comic book movies. I think by the time Noland is done with the series he will win a Oscar for the Batman movie

scott Mon, May 19, 2008 at 02:32 AM EST

okay guys and gals I have seen both trailers I am a fan of both characters
watching batman trailer ididnt get the same feeling as a got from Indiana Jones
The only issue I have is jones movie

they both look great...but i promise you im gonna try to avoid the indy frenzy that goes on for about 10 straight days.

Tue, May 13, 2008 at 08:31 PM EST

what do u mean indy fans dont know when a series should end. Last time i checked this isnt INDY 6. unlike those CRAP batman films.

muno Tue, May 13, 2008 at 08:28 PM EST

OK top line always go with the JONES. overall it looks like a better film and most of the reviews are extremely positive. and all you faggots down there indy isnt for 10 year olds or gay people. thats why they made batman.

Andrew Mon, May 12, 2008 at 05:47 PM EST

Dark Knight will be THE movie this year. Indiana Jones bored me.

krypton Mon, May 12, 2008 at 05:05 PM EST

Neither. What about Wall-E?

Dan Mon, May 12, 2008 at 04:30 PM EST

Indiana Jones hands down. Robert Downey Jr. smoked boring Bale's Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Maggie Gyllenhaal should have been the joker. She's perfect and no makeup is needed.

Mr. NOS Mon, May 12, 2008 at 03:19 AM EST

Frankly, they are both going to be two blockbuster summers flicks to see. Who cares if Dr. Jones is played by a 65 year old Harrison Ford. That's a role he's meant to play. As for the Dark Knight, reprasing the role of Batman is a great actor in Christian Bale, and an even more surprising and fantastic role by Heath Ledger (may he rest his soul) to play the psychotically humorous Joker. I say TDK is going to be the top box office hit over Indy's 4th installment.

Oogz Sun, May 11, 2008 at 09:59 PM EST

I've been anticipating The Dark Knight for a long time now. Indy 4... I've never really felt a need for it to be around. Particularly as Indy 3 was 'THE LAST CRUSADE'. Indy 4 just strikes me as retreading old ground to sucker nostalgic people into spending money.

andi Sun, May 11, 2008 at 09:47 PM EST

Ok, so a few of you pointed out age as a factor of how much more Harrison Ford kicks ass. Well, as much as I love him, I think you've forgotten that the batman movie is still a prequel to all of the other movies besides "begins". So, none of the original actors could have played the role of Bruce Wayne in either "begins" or "dark knight". It would have been ridiculous to have an actor in his 40's or more as the other batman actors are, playing a 20 something guy.

Sun, May 11, 2008 at 07:33 PM EST

Whoever thinks Indy's better obviously doesn't know when a series should end. Definitely The Dark Knight.

Dr. No Sun, May 11, 2008 at 05:51 PM EST

Dude, you must be 10 or gay to like Indiana Jones better then the dark knight....

Bruce Swayne Sun, May 11, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

obviously the batman trailer is WAY better. indy looks bad and this review proves it might be awful: http://eattheblinds.blogspot.com/

kingob Sun, May 11, 2008 at 01:20 PM EST

ur obviously someone whos never heard of Indy because the indy series is way more popular than batman. Indy 4 is the most anticipated movie ever made!may 22 is so close.....

molly Sun, May 11, 2008 at 01:18 PM EST

i am different than the molly who says batman is better im the one that said indy is better

Im really excited for both but not really a fan of Ledger and Gyllenhaal for the Batman sequel.

molly Sat, May 10, 2008 at 10:29 AM EST

batman is way better.
it's kind of sad that heath ledger plays the joker though.
but also really cool.
batmans' fifty times better than that lame indiana jones movie.

Sat, May 10, 2008 at 08:09 AM EST

totally agree with you Laurence. GO INDY!

Laurence Rock Sat, May 10, 2008 at 12:21 AM EST

Oh yeah...

To all you young MTV/tasteless generation of kids...remember this.

Harrison Ford IS the MAN!
Indiana Jones IS the MAN!
Harrison IS Indy!

Age doesn't change a thing, he will kick the crap out of all your new bubble gum pop star actors.

Don't be an idiot.

Indy rules!!!

INDY 4!!!

I am excited about TDK too but you know what...this fourth installment of Indy had been long awaited and the wait has paid off. Remember, Indy was born a film in tribute to classics, Indy will always be the best of the best in films because the Indiana Jones movies are what films are all about. Batman started out in comics and only by the grace of God did Batman Begins succeed.

TDK looks good, Indy 4 looks WAY WAY WAY better...nuff said.

Be there May 22nd!

Keske Fri, May 9, 2008 at 12:45 AM EST

All hail TDK!!!!

Kisha Fri, May 9, 2008 at 12:08 AM EST

I have been waiting for The Dark Knight since I left the theater in 2005 after seeing Batman Begins .Heath Ledger as the Joker looks to be and genius casting choice by Christopher Nolan . I will see both films though as I am also a fan of the Indy films .

alex Thu, May 8, 2008 at 09:30 PM EST

wow there are a lot of retards on this message board....ok this is batmans 6th movie...and the 4th actor. At least indy can stick with one actor...Harrison Ford who is 65 years old, can kick christan bales ass. GO INDY!

Ben Thu, May 8, 2008 at 03:21 PM EST

I was not the biggest fan of Heath Ledger though I thought he was a good actor. But I am a HUGE fan of the Joker. Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamil, even Caesar Romero all contributed to different depictions that were all great in their own way. And I think Heath's performance looks to be an amazing and original new take on an old classic. I've been watching this trailer since it was a bootleg and it just gets better each time. I'll see Indy, but I really have trouble buying Harrison Ford doing stunts at this age. Old people can be tough, very tough, but not swinging from ropes into trucks and fighting armies of soldiers by themselves tough. Also, just FYI for anyone desperate enough, you get a slight look at Harvey as Two-face in the trailer. In the shot at the end where you see Harvey holding a gun in a car you can see that there is scaring on the edge of his face and the suit pattern on one side is different from the other.

Thu, May 8, 2008 at 02:08 PM EST

Definitely The Dark Knight.

MovieMan85 Thu, May 8, 2008 at 07:05 AM EST

The Dark Knight has my complete anticiptation but it's true that you can never count out Indy. Sure Ford is old enough to be Shia Lebouf's great grandpa (saracstic) but Steven Spielberg is not just any director. I think he has proven that he knows how to make a good movie. As far as the Trailers. The Dark Knight's is better but it's true that it's worse than the first trailer so it fails in that respect. Indy's trailer looks fun but I cant get over how fake the background looks in the Jeep chase. Looks like the King Kong dinosaur stampede scene. Like I said though, I'm pretty sure Spielberg knows what he's doing. Here's hoping we get two awesome movies.

Wed, May 7, 2008 at 10:43 PM EST

someone said they won't see the dark knight because he is fine with the 1989 one, but i have to say that is stupid to basically judge a book by its cover like that. i think people are making the 89 batman way better than it was. so your never going to see it and just assume this joker is inferior. well how about you see the movie then make your judgements on it!

Anonomous Wed, May 7, 2008 at 09:26 PM EST

Dark Night is going to be a great movie.Ledgers last huge movie. Its going to be great. Indiana Jones....not so great. Harrison Fords getting too old and it looks like its going to be pretty cheesy. Batmans going to destroy.

allan Wed, May 7, 2008 at 07:35 PM EST

i can't wait to see both! two differant films. they should not be compaired. i think we should all embrace them for what will be a great summer to go to the movies. for me, TDK is what i'm looking forward to the most. Indy i'm sure will not dissapoint us. Harrison is the only one that has played Indy and i can't imagine any one else doing the part. Batman/Bruce Wayne has been played by many differant people though.(the charachter was created in 1939 so thats the reason for that) yes i'm a big Batman fan but i will not watch any of the older Batman films because Chris Nolens' Batman Begins finally got it right, totally true to the original charachter. Go TDK and Go Indy. also looking forward to the new X-FILES

Shananom Wed, May 7, 2008 at 07:35 PM EST

The Dark Knight hands down,
Indiana Jones can't compare
the actors cant compare
the screen writing and
action can't compare.

You can't even put these
in the same category. -_-"

Jake Wed, May 7, 2008 at 07:28 PM EST

Slevin...Well put! Damn, I couldn't have said it any better.

alexander Wed, May 7, 2008 at 04:37 PM EST

The dark knight looks so allsome. I believe that it will be the best movie this summer. Heath Ledger looks more convincing as the joker than Jack nicholson. Christian Bale put all the other actors who played Batman to shame. So my prediction is that The Dark Knight will win best movie of the summer.

Wed, May 7, 2008 at 04:11 PM EST

rawhide your a moron who cant even think straight get fucked

Rawhide627 Wed, May 7, 2008 at 03:03 PM EST

Indy rules and its not even close. I laugh at TDK fans who claim that its a new idea as compared to an "old" Indy. Well TDK has been doing the same dark brooding boring thing since 1989, even farther if you count the Miller comics.New? LOl

random_mosher (raj) Wed, May 7, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

don't make me choose or i'll hurt you.

I've grown up with both, gunna have to proveit, before i loose it.

:D!!

jeff Wed, May 7, 2008 at 11:28 AM EST

Indiana hands down. DK looks cool, but Spielberg, Lucas and Ford, a combination that can't be beat.

bilal Wed, May 7, 2008 at 11:10 AM EST

i like the dark knight

bilal Wed, May 7, 2008 at 11:07 AM EST

THE DARK KNIGHT better then Indiana Jones
the dark knight best 2008 movie
i like BATMAN movies

Wed, May 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM EST

Andrew Mickey.Let me pose a scenario to you. Okay, now you are going to have to use your imagination for a bit, but bear with me. Say your favorite soda is Coca-Cola. You love Coca-Cola. It's got great flavor. You remember the cute commercials from when you were a kid and you're overcome with nostalgia. Now picture Coca-Cola changing its recipe. All of a sudden, your favorite soft drink has gone soft/bland/whatever. Do you still buy it?
I LOVED the old Indy films. Doesn't mean I'm going to love this watered-down, phoned-in, special effect- loaded film. Sure, I'll see it; but I will recognize it for what it ACTUALLY is, not for what I would like it to be(that is, if the whole premise of this discussion is in fact true, and you can accurately glean the quality of a movie from a trailer) Don't just obstinately preach crap like "are you kidding me, Lucas/Speilberg. period". But I suppose you're the perfect open mouth ready to devour anything they dump out (commercially/corporally).

cmv Wed, May 7, 2008 at 08:38 AM EST

Love both trailers and plan to watch both on the 1st day of release if not the 1st week. As for which one was better, Indiana for nostalgic reasons. I thought TDK's 1st trailer was better, love the line "let's put a smile on that face", still gives me chills.

A Wed, May 7, 2008 at 08:14 AM EST

Sorry but Indiana Jones is OVER! It was played out three decades ago. MOVE ON.

TDK will be the best film of the year, with Iron Man making the most money.

TDK will easily make more money than Indiana Jones: Retirement Center.

Time for those idiots still living in the 80s to get a life and grow the hell up. Those days are done, and thank god!

Indiana Jones is going to get it's ass beat by Sex and the City, it's second week. lmao. That says it all!

Slevin Wed, May 7, 2008 at 05:23 AM EST

what the hell? without any competetion, hands down, TDK looked more promising than Indiana jones and the quest for viagra.

adam Wed, May 7, 2008 at 05:23 AM EST

dark knight

Andrew Mickey Wed, May 7, 2008 at 12:37 AM EST

Are you kidding? Its Indiana Jones. Period. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Period. First 3 movies are classics and some of the best action movies EVER made. Period. Anything else?

Frank M. Hurbis Tue, May 6, 2008 at 11:35 PM EST

I am old enough to have seen the originals when they came out and JONES is the same old story w/ a 65 year old Ford, YES 65 YEARS OLD PEOPLE !!!!!! DK looks more interesting though Jones will be fun but PLEASE 65 year olds should not be ACTION HEROES outside of a nursing home. Ford wears earrings and tries to date woman 30 years younger so I think he is in permanent denial of father time........GO BATMAN and heck it is baseball season/ ha ha

Wiz Tue, May 6, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

This summer will be an interesting one. I can't believe that anyone actually said that Iron Man will be the blockbuster of the year though.... Wow! Anywho! Solely judging the trailers, I have to say that the Indie trailer looks the best. I mean, you have the nostalgic factor, the moment of bliss where the shodaow of Harrison Ford's puts on his hat, the running and jumping... basically it looks like all of the best of Indiana Jones with better graphics.... TDK.... the trailer seems watered down... but if nothing else, that peaks my interest even more. Sure, the trailer isn't action packed, but it has more depth, its more 3-dimensional. And I hope that its truly a microcosm of what the movie will be.

I honestly feel that these both will be the best movies of the year (I mean... there's not been much so far).

Cubs Suck Tue, May 6, 2008 at 10:13 PM EST

All these young punks and pussies.
They have no idea about anything but playing with their ipods and texting on their cell phones and saying OMG! OMG! OMG! Indiana Jones is a legend and Harrison Ford made the best movies to date. Not one actor today, can duplicate such success and entertainment. Damn American Idol, UnRealistic T.V., cocky, spoiled-rotten clone, tween generation.

While I love the Indy movies. TDK will kick butt! The biggest villain in comic history getting an make over .. Extreme interest from me. I will be looking forward to see Indy again too, but not half as excited about TDK. Heath will be Awesome (I loved his performance in Ned Kelly).

mike Tue, May 6, 2008 at 09:51 PM EST

Dark Knight will win at the box office over Indiana Jones. But this years box office hit is and will be Iron Man. :)

Sadie Tue, May 6, 2008 at 09:45 PM EST

Hmm...what a difficult choice. Here we have the sequel to the badass "Batman Begins" or we have "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Depends Undergarments". Let's see, TDK or AARP? On the one hand, we have Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and Cillian Murphy. On the other Harrison Ford trying to reclaim his glory from 20 years ago. While I'll be standing in line to see The Dark Knight on opening
weekend, I'll wait for the new Indy movie to hit cable so I can watch
it some night when I run out of Ambien. The thought of a geriatric Indiana Jones dragging his old ass around the screen will be almost as bad as when Sylvester Stallone dragged his sagging man-boobs back onto the big screen in Rocky Balboa. Ooops, gotta go, that thought just me me throw up a little in my mouth.

short round Tue, May 6, 2008 at 07:59 PM EST

Bottom line is Indiana's last film came out the same year as the first Batman movie. Dark Knight is the 6th installment with the 4th actor playing Batman. I've waited too long for this Indiana Jones movie. I could go another 2 years with no Batman. So I anticipate the Crystal Skull more than Dark Knight. but having said that I believe Dark Knight will be a better film overall. Ford is old, but still a great actor. Let's hope Lucas can pen something better than an Episode I effort. Spielberg rules but his War of the Worlds was horrible! Lucas and Spirlberg together are great, however David Koepp also wrote the screenplay for War of the Worlds. yikes!

Ben Tue, May 6, 2008 at 07:30 PM EST

What trailers was this guy watching? The Indiana Jones trailer looks like complete garbage. I can't tell whose fake accent I am less excited about, Cate Blanchett's or Shia LeBouf's. Though, Harrison Ford's decision to phone in every bit of him that appears on the trailer may top both of them. I don't know how the TDK trailer was less thematic. The theme was the struggle that both Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne face over the futility of their efforts - "You either die a hero, or see live long enough to see yourself become the villian." THAT is the theme of this trailer. All signs point to an Oscar-worthy performance from the taken-too-soon Ledger, with an overall amazing cast in each part, especially with the fortunate absence of Katie Holmes. The Dark Knight will hands-down be the summer's greatest movie, if not the year's, and that trailer gives you just enough to want more.

alex Tue, May 6, 2008 at 07:10 PM EST

stewart...you must be mental if you say indy is a "popcorn movie for families and little kids" ummmm its rated PG-13 and is not meant for 6-12 year olds. only for 13 and up hence the rating PG-13.

Matt Tue, May 6, 2008 at 07:03 PM EST

Indiana Jones looks like it will be a good, but The Dark Kngiht is going to blow it out of the water. Jack Nicholson wasn't that good of a Joker. He wasn't sadistic enough. All you have to do is look at Heath Ledger in the make-up and you just know that he will be the best Joker ever. No one is going to top it. It's kind of ironic that he died after making what he said whas the funnest movie he has/will make. RIP

TruthSpeaker Tue, May 6, 2008 at 07:03 PM EST

I'll start with Indiana Jones. He's the man, and I will definitely go see it. However, Shiala Buff is a hack and sucks so it is too bad he is in the movie. Otherwise Indi always kicks a$$. As for the Dark Knight it looks SICK. It should just be a plain and simple kick A$$ movie. However, with this one I am sick of people jumping on Heath like he is all of the sudden some simply amazing actor. He's not bad, I usually enjoy his acting and I will say he looks very good in this but please stop worshiping the guy just because he met his untimely demise. Final thought, go see both of them for sure but am more exited about the Dark Knight

Nicole Tue, May 6, 2008 at 05:52 PM EST

More excited to see Dark Knight!

Matt E. Tue, May 6, 2008 at 04:40 PM EST

Dark Knight. by a hair

Joe Shmo Tue, May 6, 2008 at 04:16 PM EST

Indy has it on lock down by far. And in response to a previous comment, Shia may not be the smartest idea as far as casting goes....but at least he'll make it to the premiere of his own movie. Sorry, Heath......Jack will always be Joker just like Harrison Ford will always be Indiana Jones. No substitutes. Go Docta Jones!

Amanda :) Tue, May 6, 2008 at 03:41 PM EST

THE DARK KNIGHT WILL BE THE BEST MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!!!!
I have been hooked ever since I found out that Heath was the Joker and that the new Joker was going to be so very different from the previous movies. This character will have such a different storyline and attitude, which is what keeps movies good these days. Though I will still go see Indy, it looks too similar to the previous movies. This July, me and my BFFs will be hitting theaters several times, in honor of a great actor's last and best performance. RIP Heath, we love you.

Stewart Tue, May 6, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

indy is a popcorn movie for families and little kids. The dark knight is for older teens and adults. If you are over 20 and and think Indy's trailer was better, you should have your head examine.

Sean Tue, May 6, 2008 at 02:54 PM EST

These are really the only two movies I'm really excited for this summer, but I am far more excited for Indy. The thing is, we haven't had an Indy film in 19 years. We had a Batman film just three years ago. Plus the fact that Steven Spielberg is one of my favorite directors, and that the Indy movies are so damn fun.

Go Indy!

Adam Tue, May 6, 2008 at 01:28 PM EST

i think that everyone will be surprised with tdk. i think it will beat iron man. i think people underestimate how appealing this movie is to everyone despite the fact that it has not been completely hyped like iron man.

Tue, May 6, 2008 at 11:20 AM EST

Marc Bernardin- I seriously question your ability to accurately assess any type of cinema after this little article. I realize that any discussion of this nature boils down to a simple question of aesthetics-a concept unique to each person. That being said, I would ask you to explain how the new TDK trailer is LESS thematic or evocative than the first-save for the simple fact that it isn't the first glimpse we've had of the film. Or perhaps you would like to elaborate on how "more running-and-jumping-and-blowing-stuff-up" achieves an opposite affect for the new Indiana Jones movie? I think you've shot yourself in the foot, buddy.
To all the rest of you groupies throwing your dusty brown fedoras into "spry" old Indiana's corner, be forewarned: when the smoke clears this summer, the eponymous DK will prevail-complex, polished and rich. Shia LeBeouf (seriously, Indy Casting?) will be begging Nolan to write Robin in the third installment of the series reinventing Batman. MilktheteatIndy

I'm a big Indy fan; I have a lot of love and respect for the franchise and its characters. Needless to say, I'm pumped for this new installment. That doesn't mean, however, that I'm blind to what, at this point, should be an obvious notion: The Dark Knight has more going for it.

It looks risky, edgy. It's not just "reinventing" what is arguably the most iconic comic book villain of them all (in stupendous fashion, I should add) -- it's giving the entire Batman universe the treatment it really deserves. With all due respect to Burton and co., this could very well be the greatest Batman movie yet, if not the greatest comic book flick, period.

True, Indy is Hollywood royalty. But that's sort of the point -- this film is getting attention because it's "another Indiana Jones" and because Spielberg is Spielberg, not because the film itself has given moviegoers anything to be especially excited about.

My money's on the "Dark" horse.

you can pretty much cut this one down the center of the age brackets it would seem. But before anyone gets hurt people, can we please remember this is film, not real life. If you really want to get serious about something, why not look into some of the life and death issues affecting REAL human beings..now there's a concept.

yeah, definately Dark Knight. anything Batman blows my bubble, but Ledger's re-invention of the Joker looks brilliant. also, finally Batman gets a costume that lets him turn his head...how liberating. Indy looks like it might be same old/same old, but Dark Knight looks like a rejuvination of an urban legend. brilliant.

I have more or less vowed to stop wasting my time and money on sequels, threequels, remakes and franchise. However, Steven Spielberg carries a tremendous amount of weight with me, so it's likely I will see INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. But I will wait at least 10 days after it opens to avoid the frenzy.

As for THE DARK KNIGHT, if there had never been BATMAN in 1989, I would be hot to see this. But since I already saw Batman battle the Joker, I don't need to see it again. And quite frankly, dead or not, Heath Ledger cannot be compared to Jack Nicholson. And since when did the character of Harvey Dent become white?? Last I saw, he was black and played by Billy Dee Williams.

DARK KNIGHT!!!!!
I loved this trailer even more than the first! It showed more of ALL the characters, and I'm more jazzed about it than I was before (hardly seemed that was possible). I think Nolan did an awesome job and I don't think I'll be disappointed in any way. My BF and I are already making plans to see it twice!!! Can't wait!
R.I.P. Heath, great job on your last movie!

Hi Tue, May 6, 2008 at 06:20 AM EST

As sad as it sounds The Dark Knight will probably be bigger due to Heath Ledgers death. Best thing that could have happened for that film.

TheDarkKnightFan Tue, May 6, 2008 at 04:52 AM EST

TDK!!!...TDK!!!...TDK!!!
Heath Ledger's Joker, what he has done there, brilliant, incredible. His slunched over appearance, high pitch voice (very much unlike his own), and movements/looks that are captivating to say the least. Im not too big on horror, but Ledger's Joker is a theatrical art and masterpiece. Its his masterpiece!!!...his Creation!!! A Theatrical art of genius is what it is!. An Academy Award for his performance is very probable. I know i speak so much of this movie on Heath Ledger's Joker, but THAT is truly so much of what will makes this movie what it is and will be. Batman Begins was amazing, realistic, and so i believe this one will be just as well, as good or evan better!!! Indiana Jones will be great, just to see Indy back in action, but the movie itself is still questionable, but The Dark Knight has me and so many others sold. The Dark Knight's cast is perfect, of which i can't say so much about any of these other summer movies im afraid

The point of the first 2 TDK trailers, is to reel you in. The point of the 3rd is to let you know what you have been reeled into. TDK trailer 2 didn't give hardly anything away about plot, which is why it comes across more thematic, coz your just seeing an out of context serious of eye catching images.

As for Indy. I don't think you can slap the advertisement strategy in the same group. We all know who Indy is, and what he is about. He has 3 films behind him. However, this is an all new and shiny Joker and Two Face.

I will go a see Indy, but Im more looking forward to TDK.

Michael Tue, May 6, 2008 at 02:38 AM EST

I'm more excited for Indy but I hold that series much closer to my heart. I also feel that Indy is going to have a harder time in the reviews because so the originals are held in such high regard. Even though I'm sure Heath's performance will be good, I don't think he's going to touch Jack's version, which is 45 on AFI's list. There is just something about Heath's voice that doesn't quite fit what I think the Joker should sound like. He does got the laugh down, I'll admit that.

usetafish Tue, May 6, 2008 at 12:08 AM EST

looking at the previous posts, I think it is obvious who the clear winner is, even if they won't admit it. Most used "Indy" and "The Dark Knight". Sorry Mr. Dark Knight, sir, me and Indy is mates. Who knows in 20 years or so, someone might be able to say K-man and know who it is.

It's a good thing Indiana Jones and The Dark Knight won't be open on the same weekend, otherwise, Indiana Jones wouldn't make any money.

Leumas Mon, May 5, 2008 at 11:35 PM EST

I like Indiana Jones, but this trailer didn't make me want to see it, unlike The Dark Knight trailer. However I prefer the previous trailers to both of these films much more. These trailers are more for the plot of the movies.

Caveboy0 Mon, May 5, 2008 at 10:56 PM EST

whats with all this age thing. im 15 of course im more excited about the dark knight than indy, but here is the thing about indy 4 i have never seen any indiana jones movie and i still would like to see it. thats what this indy movie is about getting a younger newer audience and it looks like that is going to happen.

Daniel Mon, May 5, 2008 at 10:27 PM EST

Both Indy and Batman will be AWESOME!!!! I think we will ALL be seeing them both.....

Nix Mon, May 5, 2008 at 10:25 PM EST

What is this, cable news? Let's make a fake argument where none exists? Indy is pure make believe silly cracky fun. It's gold. Nolan's Batman is as close to epic Sophoclean high tragedy as any live-action comic book adaptation has ever achieved. They're two totally different moods and I am going to watch them both. on dvd. because i have agoraphobia.

jake west Mon, May 5, 2008 at 10:20 PM EST

ew are some retards f**k indiana jones who wants to watch an 80 year old man (who cant act)swing from ropes, im not seein it in theatre or renting it on dvd.....the dark knight will be the best film of the year im goin more than once to see it in theatres.....the dark knight = BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER!!! wait and see.

Manny T Mon, May 5, 2008 at 09:59 PM EST

Come On guys. We are we kidding. Dark Knight Rules.

jay Mon, May 5, 2008 at 09:50 PM EST

Why did Heath Ledger make his voice sound so weird?

richard Mon, May 5, 2008 at 09:17 PM EST

Sorry - Dark Knight looks and will be incredible

Indy looks fun but not sure Harrison can pull it off

Nolan/Bale/Ledger/Eckhart cannot go wrong
