pork & beans is the worst weezer song since el scorcho. the one heavy guitar and drum beat is the only good part of the song. the lyrics aren't really that witty and are just kinda lame compared with some of river's previous ironic, self-doubting lyrics. this is really pathetic.

on the up side, i think by this song sucking so bad it means the other tracks on the album should be at least okay.

I really dig this song. I have been this excited by a Weezer song since Hash Pipe. I am hoping that Rivers' writing overpowers Rick Rubin's producing.

I'd have to agree that the Blue Album and Pinkerton were their two best, but I really did like Maladroit. (Green was o.k.). Make Believe I did not like. (Perfect Situation was good though). BUT! Pork and Beans sounds like good old fashion =w=eezer to me. I grew up on Weezer, but had to find other music to adore for a few years, but Weezer seems to be coming back. (If one song is enough to tell by.) . . . =w=

i think the new single is really crunchy. Blue/Pinkerton are really good classic albums made by a raw youthful talented songwriter, that's why they are special. That being said, Green, Maladroit, the host of unreleased material that regular www.weezer.com fans know (they've made available at least 70-80 songs they've demo'd since 99' on that site, and to some extent make believe showcase that rivers is a PROFESSIONAL SONGWRITER. If you can appreciate him for that, rather than being upset that he isn't an expressive artist always, you'll enjoy Weezer.

OK, so I don't pay a ton of attention to Weezer, but are you really telling me that this song just leaked this week, and was not supposed to be played on the radio when I heard it in its entirety last week? If I'd known it was a no-no, I'd have appreciated it that much more. As it was, I barely listened.

Upon first listen, I think the song is already better than most of Make Believe. Look, I'm one of the many people who wishes Weezer would sound as good as they did during Blue Album or Pinkerton, but Weezer are at a point in their lives when they can't continue to be writing about surfing and being lovestruck by lesbian friends and making it have the same conviction it did more than a decade ago. They're older now, they had a tremendous career with a few great albums under their belts (yes, including Green Album and Maladroit). Just let em do what the hell they want and stop your whining about the heydays of Pinkerton. If the new song's lyrics should teach Weezer fans anything, it's how quickly some Weezer fans are quick to turn their backs towards them.

Don't know what's up with all the hate for Make Believe...I thought it was better than both the Green Album and Maladroit. That said, I think Beverly Hills was the worst Weezer single to date...that was until I heard Pork and Beans. I don't like it at all...Beverly Hills was at least catchy, this one's got nothing going for it except for clever lyrics (which is the exact reason I didn't like Beverly Hills).

I think this song is great! I kinda stopped being a huge fan around Maladroit (though Green Album didn't completely knock my socks off either) but I have to admit that "Perfect Situation" is one of my all-time favorite Weezer songs. I'm ready to hear more from this album.

Well, I'm cautious to think that Weezer might be good again. Truth be told ever since Matt left I lost faith. My friend Danny always says, "Weezer was an awesome band. Too bad they broke up and someone else stole their name. The new Weezer sucks." Of course he's joking but he's mostly right too. Now a new Rentals album I'm totally down with.

I am *totally* with you. Weez fan since 1994, I loved Blue and Pinkerton, and even really like Green and Maladroit, but the last album makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

On first listen, Pork and Beans sounds a lot like old Weezer. Its kinda exciting.
