Who makes the best 'guitar face'?

HBO's deadpan darlings Flight of the Conchords have popped up in a "Behind the Scenes" video, made during a photo shoot for Maxim magazine, sporting mustaches and demonstrating their favorite "guitar faces." Check it out, and let the PopWatch universe know your answer to this burning question: Which musician, living or dead, makes the best "guitar face"? You know what we're talking about here, that intense performance face that makes you squirm, or perhaps swoon, but you can't look away because you know that guitarist is feeling it! An obvious candidate is John Mayer. Who else?

of course that ERIC CLAPYON, who do you think Mayer copied from

SRV and DimeBag

Stevie Ray Vaughan. Best guitar face, you could tell he was feelin' it, man he could play the guitar...

Hendrix mightve been the first mainstream on...John Mayer looks mentally disabled when he pulls one

Isaac Hanson. Yes, I'm serious. (Mandi Bierly will likely back me up on this one.)

Nobody guitar-faces as well as Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Peter Frampton looks like he wishes he were singing the whole time he's playing; it's like he's lip-synching his guitar chords.

I'm partial to Nigel Tufnel's guitar face, myself.

Jimmy Page, of course! Check out Song Remains the Same if there are any doubts; the man defined the term stage presence. That's why Zep named their 76 album Presence, after all.

In my opinion, Madonna makes the best guitar face, at least the best air guitar face.

without a doubt - dave matthews

Angus Young from AC/DC is the very definition of "guitar face."

My sole vote is for Guitar Face himself, Mr. Mayer. Can I get an "O"?!

Stephanie T. Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 09:29 AM EST

Paul McCartney makes some silly faces even though he plays bass.

Donald Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 09:06 AM EST

B.B. King

Sherry, I watch WOODSTOCK and I remember!

doesn't anyone remember Alvin Lee of "Ten Years After" ?
that is a guitar face

Cliff Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 05:28 AM EST

Eddie Van Halen always makes a surprised face, like he didn't know he could play guitar before that moment.

Daniel Kessler of Interpol. Nuff said.

BGG Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 10:44 PM EST

FOTC FTW! Doesn't Prince have a pretty intense guitar face?

KG Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

definitely not john mayer

krikky Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 06:34 PM EST

Oh, Bret & Jemaine, how I've missed you!! Anyone know the date that season 2 of FOTC premieres on HBO?

Also, I'll throw Stevie Ray Vaughan into the bizarre/hot guitar face mix.

What, like a stupid guitar face? That prize would go to Neil Schon of Journey.

A typical known guitar face:

1. Lindsey Buckingham
2. Carlos Santana
3. Angus Young
4. Michael Schenker
5. Jimi Hendrix
6. Rick Nielsen
7. Alex Lifeson

Anyone that's anyone has to say Angus Young.

Eric Friedmann Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 04:35 PM EST

Do you even have to ask??? Hands down, JIMI HENDRIX! There never was, there never will be again!

Close second: DAVID GILMOUR of Pink Floyd.

Mardicus Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 04:27 PM EST

Dave Matthews face is goofy. And when he plays guitar...
