American Gladiators Wolf and Crush, in da cubicle!

Filled with dread and pastry products, Slezak and I welcomed two of the new American Gladiators, Wolf and Crush, to the EW.com office last week. We knew for certain that we didn't "have what it takes," but figured they could at least attempt to train us via some office-appropriate challenges. Here's what went down.

Part 1: What's in a name? Not a lot of thought, actually, if the ones you choose are Fuel and Cupcake.

After the jump: Watch Fuel and Cupcake tell Wolf and Crush to bring it.

Part 2: Style & Sound Effects. Wolf clearly wishes he was wearing Fuel's '80s-inspired spandex leggings.

Part 3: Office Challenges. Please note that the "Wolfpack" hand signal/high five disaster between Wolf and Cupcake easily qualifies as one of the most awkward moments in history.

Do Cupcake and Fuel deserve to be gladiators or WHAT?

P.S. Crush rules.

The terrible twosome known as “Wolf” and “Crush” invaded Maxim Radio’s airwaves to discuss what it’s really like to be a red, white, and blue ass-kicker.

Thanks so much for these videos. I now have an embarrassingly huge crush on Wolf. Wonderful.

Kerry--the pants are totally my mom's from the early '80s. The pattern is a barely distinguishable "tropical fish." They really do rock!

Annie B and Mike Slezak are my fave EW writers (close thirds are Whitney Pastorek and Chris Nashawaty). So it hurts me to part company with them on this.

After watching the new American Gladiators last night, i've got to say the show totally sucks. The original came out so long ago, before reality tv, before Ninja Warriors.

While the original was also bad, the show hit a niche because the concept was original. But some 15+ years later, times have changed yet the show stayed the same. They still use the same obstacles and everything. WHY? Ninja Warrior changes the course every season!

The only saving grace of the show remains the contestants. I live for watching them humiliate these over confident-roid-raging loser "gladiators" who take their jobs too seriously. But it's not enough. Taking an old show and adding new hosts doesn't change a bit. Sorry to hate, but this gameshow has no game.
But still, good luck to all the contestants...

I need to know... Annie, where did you GET those hose? Crazy!
And, was that a threadless tshirt on Slezak?

Gaines Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 07:47 PM EST

Those were SO funny... can I come work with you guys? I'll buy you candy. Wearing spandex was brave, Annie! You really are a gladiator now.

How come in the newest EW with Ledger on the cover, EW trashes American Gladiators, calling it a Nerf color war, and that if we watch it, we're hurting the writers? Yet, they seem to like it here. Funny.

"Hello? This is Wolf."
"Hello, this is Suzie Padlow of Awesome DR, how are you?"
"Not interested."
I loved this part.

Well since Law and Order and CSI have like 4 different shows American Gladiators should too...American Gladiatos: Cubicle Wars!!!! I like Crush's silent but deadly demeanor.

Rob Grizzly Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

Crush is a real cutie. She doesn't seem tough enough to be a Gladiator at all

Jenn67 Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 09:41 AM EST

Slezak, that was the same exact noise my cat made when she got her tail caught in the garage door. WOW
Annie, I heart your leggings. AWESOME!

Matt Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 09:07 AM EST

Oh wow. Slezak sounded like an injured wolf with his howl. Kinda sad really.
