Trailer Blazer: 'Sex and the City' teaser

Dec 7, 2007, 11:22 AM | by Michael Slezak

Yes, that colossal flower grafted onto SJP's dress is absurd, and no, I don't know any woman who organizes her closet while wearing pricey undergarments and stilettos. But still, the minute the orchestra starts playing the pumped-up SATC theme, I start getting a case of the tinglies, the same kind I used to get when I flipped on HBO every Sunday to watch my favorite half-hour series.

So let's have a show of hands: Who else is excited about this movie?

i freaking hate this show. where is the Arrested Development movie, dammit?!?!

Martha Sun, Dec 9, 2007 at 09:44 PM EST

Ooh, me, me, me, Slezak! [hand waving frantically in the air] Looks like a feature-length version of the show with all the fashion and Big you can handle... so what's not to like? I'll be there next spring, probably dragging my husband with me (who'll be pretending to be miserable).

Twist Sat, Dec 8, 2007 at 04:27 PM EST

Love the teaser, can't wait for the movie, long live the girls!

Lene Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 11:18 PM EST

Oh yes, oh yes - canNOT wait! Even though I hate the idea of Carrie and Big getting married, just seeing this trailer convinced me that it doesn't matter. I really miss these people and can't wait to spend time with them again. And now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go spend the weekend watching the DVDs. All of 'em.

Megan Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 09:02 PM EST

I don't think I've ever been this excited about a movie trailer! It looks awesome, the girls look great, and it left me wishing for next May. However, I was wondering about J-Hud as well. But I think they were just going for a "the girls are back" theme with the teaser. I'm sure we'll see her when a longer trailer is released.

bdog Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 07:34 PM EST

Can. Not. Wait.
What the hell, Sally? They're too old?!
Sorry, they may not be 20, but they are just the right age and far sexier then any of the current girl actresses around-with the exception of Blake Lively..love her!
This is gonna rock!

Lynny Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 05:29 PM EST

I was excited, but when the music came on at the end I almost did a a Carrie squeal. Making plans for a movie night with the girls already!

Anna Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 04:25 PM EST

I'm so excited, and I just can can't hide it!!!
I was a bit worried about what this would be like, but now I've seen the trailer and I can't wait!!

new yorker Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 04:18 PM EST

Saw it! Loved it! Can't wait for it!

Anon Geek Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 04:00 PM EST

I'm more curious than excited. But I won't pay to see it -- I'll wait for it on cable, just like the original show. Since Carrie was the most annoying character, I hope the movie focuses on others. I enjoyed the show, but always felt the supporting cast was far more interesting than the so-called stars.

Cece Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 03:10 PM EST

Hell, yes!!! Super excited. I got chills when she said "Hello, lover!!" In my top-10 of favorite TV lines. I still say that everytime I go shopping and find the perfect pair of shoes or outfit. CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!!

Meredith Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 02:51 PM EST

RIDICULOUSLY excited. I squealed with delight. And got a tingly feeling too!

miklane Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 02:32 PM EST

If you liked this show, how can you NOT be excited about it? I wasn't a huge fan (although I had nothing against it), but it seems to me like the show just ended and the actresses will still fit perfectly with it. And people still love it! I'm sure the writers are the same as well. People love this show, it's timeless. They'll love the movie too, why not?

LuvSATC Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 02:16 PM EST

Sally, Sorry to hear that you think actresses older than 35 should not be cast in roles they made famous. These actresses are iconic for these roles and to cast younger actresses would be offensive and a complete disgrace. I'm not 35 yet, but I only hope that I look that good and have as much fun when I get there.

"To Ceej", Thank you and well said. This show rocks! My only concern about the movie is that it will suck in comparison to the show.

To ceej Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:55 PM EST

For hating the show so much, you sure know a fair amount about it. Believe me, when I hate a show, I don't know so much as what time it's on, let alone one of the main themes of an episode. To each's own, but I loved this show. As for the ending of the show, maybe single & fabulous would have been a more apporpiate ending, but isn't singledom & a satisfacation with it all a means to one end? A healthy relationship!

Not feeling it Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:43 PM EST

Despite my feelings... really Sally? The original actresses are too old to play the roles what, like 4 years later? I can't wait till you turn 30 and have to stop doing anything remotely sexy or fun, because apparently it's all gone after that point. You are exactly why Hollywood is so hard for actresses. How ridiculous, some of the sexiest actresses today are in their 40s, 50s, even 60s. Try finding a young actress with half the sex appeal as Michelle Pfeiffer, or Julianne Moore. I'm seriously fuming at the notion that any of these women are old at all.

Not feeling it Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:37 PM EST

I was not really feeling much towards the idea of a movie either way. That trailer did nothing to change it. What's it about? Apparently nobody cares, except that it stars the same people as the show. Wow, what a revelation. I thought it looked pretty boring actually. Look, we're pretty and we're wearing bad clothes (as always) and we're friends! That's really not enough of a movie for me.

snarky Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:34 PM EST

memememememe!!!! I saw this on perez hilton last night (c'mon PW!). Sent the link to all my girlfriends and told them to clear the calendar for the release date.

ceej Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:19 PM EST

I give this movie... the finger.

I hated the series (yes, Carrie, you ARE sluts) and loathed the ending (We love being single and independent. Wait, no we don't... get me a man, STAT!), and now this tripe. Blech!

peach Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 01:05 PM EST

When they announced this movie I bitched and moaned about it ruining a perfectly wrapped up series. In short, I've been kind of a hater- UNTIL NOW!!! I Loved the trailer and will be sneaking in my thermos filled with flirtinis into the theater opening day!

annie too Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 12:52 PM EST

i watched it twice!!! i am sooo excited to see this!

i watched it twice!!! i am sooo excited to see this!

Ruby Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 12:41 PM EST

It may suck, be horribly overrated, untie already fabulously tied up loose ends, but who cares. Today, I am so excited for this movie. Probably my all time favorite show (close tie with Buffy)! And no one but these four women could pull this off. You are never too old to live life and be sexy. Besides, Kim Cattrall was in her 40s for most of the show, which is how old the other 3 ladies are now so how can they possibly be too old. Besides, I would kill to look like any of them at their age.

BLM Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 12:25 PM EST

I'm excited. And old women need lovin' too!

Cassie Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 11:48 AM EST

It looks incredible, and I don't even know what the plot is.

Sally Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 11:34 AM EST

And where is Jennifer Hudson in the trailer? Hmmmm?

Sally Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 11:28 AM EST

I'm sorry but the ladies are just too old to be doing a sex&the city movie. They should have some younger actresses star in the movie.

annie Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 11:25 AM EST

i got chills too, i must admit.
