Work off that enormous burrito with Elijah Wood

Categories: Kids' Corner

I love when famous people do silly kids shows. A lot of you may be horrified by the clip of Nick Jr.'s Yo Gabba Gabba below, in which Frodo, all decked out in crazy eyes and a skintight yellow tee, performs his personal favorite ''dancey dance" called "The Puppet Master." But why? Kids love it!

Can we please all get up and do this right now? "Go crazy!" But if you're not feeling up to it or if your neck still kills from riding the Cyclone on Saturday like mine does, I suggest modeling yourself after Brobee, the Oscar-esque green guy in the front. His legs can't even bend, so he just wobbles around the whole time looking wasted. (Brobee's character description on the show's website says he is "cautious and needs constant reassurance," so don't tell him I said that.)

nightcrawler666 Thu, Aug 30, 2007 at 12:15 PM EST

Oh and I third the comment you have to watch the Party in my Tummy song as well.

nightcrawler666 Thu, Aug 30, 2007 at 12:14 PM EST

You know people said Sid and Marty Kroftt had to be doing drugs to make HR Pufunstuf, and their other shows, but c'mon what are these people on. It started with Teletubbies and watching this, the Wonder Pets and the weird rapping yellow bear with the stupid kid on it, I want to know what the creators are on.

Stef Thu, Aug 30, 2007 at 09:55 AM EST

Wait, aren't his eyes really blue? Why do they look brown? Is he wearing contacts, or am I just seeing things?

Valerie Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 06:53 PM EST

I love that he has a good enough sense of humor to do it, but that horrible Tshirt... really ?

LisaMama Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 01:47 PM EST

My sister called and tried explaining this to me, and I didn't quite believe her when she said Frodo was dancing on a kids show. I think it's awesome! I'm glad some actors out there have a sense of humor.
Speaking of which, back in the day, Stephen Colbert did a Sesame Street special dressed up as a letter of the alphabet walking around a mall. Hilarious!

i was stuck in the dentist's waiting room the other day when this show came on. i had to go outside until it was over.

Katie V. Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 12:51 PM EST

Even my 8 and 10 year old kids joined in the action when I showed them this clip (especially the "crazy" part), and they never do that stuff anymore...How can anyone resist, when it's Elijah Wood?

Cranky Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 11:49 AM EST

Look at those crazy eyes! You should check out "Party in my tummy" as the other poster mentioned, and you'll never look at food the same way again. I want some of whatever these guys are smoking.

Joni Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 11:29 AM EST

Well that was 2 1/2 minute of my life that I will never get back. NO WAY I would let this show play in my home. My tots are going to have to just 'get by' with the other less horrific shows on TV.

Kid Shows + Celebrities = Freaking Genius Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 10:31 AM EST

I love this one - and I love when celebrities stop being so worried about their image to do stuff like this. My all-time favorite is REM on Sesame Street (Shiny Happy Monsters). On a completely different vibe, Lena Horne singing "It's Not Easy Being Green" with Kermit (1976) is one of most brilliant moments on television ever.

matchkitjohn Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 10:19 AM EST

You really need to see the clip called "There's a Party in My Tummy".

A.Rae Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 09:50 AM EST

The first time we watched this show, I literally couldn't stop giggling for the first 10 minutes, and my husband was totally appalled, but my 3 year old loved every minute of it!

Anita Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 08:37 AM EST

Good for him! It's great to be silly and have fun ... and to 'teach' our way-to-old little children to be kids!

Becky Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 08:32 AM EST

Thank you Elijah for rescuing me from the horrors of Dora/Diego/Blue! If I have one more animated creature yelling at me to "stand up" "say it with me" I may just kick in the screen! Of course I would send the kids outside first!

servo Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 08:31 AM EST

I can't bring myself to let my daughter watch this show. It's so manic and intense, it creeps me out.

Jelly Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 08:03 AM EST

I am so turned on right now...

caroline Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 03:41 AM EST

Shouldn't he play Bilbo the HOPpitt ?

Joe Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 09:34 PM EST

The show has some pretty good pedigree to it. I'll admit it's a bit (bit?) strange, but it seems to be well done. It's packed with an 80's music vibe, and even features an art segment with a former member of Devo. My kids (4.5 and 2) enjoy it quite a bit as well.

beb Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 08:16 PM EST

Elijah's so cute in this...I could only imagine what Britney, Lindsay or Paris would do in this situation...lift my leg, show my bits...

Martha Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 06:57 PM EST

If Brobee needs constant reassurance, guess we shouldn't tell him about his unibrow...especially if he's wasted.

BrandonK Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 05:44 PM EST

I guess it's good that I don't find toddlers' entertainment enjoyable, since I'm 30...but I felt like they were all yelling at me! I guess I'd like some slow dancy dance music.

Kate Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 04:50 PM EST

I think that's kind of cute. :) Though if he hits any dance clubs anytime soon, you KNOW what people are going to be bugging him for. :)

marykate Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 04:00 PM EST

LOVE IT!!

paige Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:59 PM EST

alot of these childrens shows are just extremely weird (booba, teletubbies) and these kids watch them in a very strange way as if they know exactly what the hell is goin on... i miss being a kid :-(

Aaron Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:24 PM EST

Yo Gabba Gabba is without a doubt the creepiest show on TV. We let our 3-year-old watch The Wonder Pets and The Backyardigins, but when YGG comes on and she's starts staring hypnotically in to the TV in a "they're here!" kinda way ... it's time to go outside and play.

furry_tom Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:07 PM EST

I can't believe it. Elijah Wood stole my moves.

Bobby Rowe Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:02 PM EST

"I gotta go?" No you don't. You don't have plans...you're Elijah Wood.

Rese Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:01 PM EST

That was on The Soup this weekend but they didn't show the whole thing. Thanks for making my afternoon.. I was laughing so loud that everyone came over to my desk to watch it 2 more times. Awesome.

paige Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:56 PM EST

omg zooey deschanel would be perfect for this!

Heather Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:42 PM EST

That's almost frightening. More that someone "wrote" that song than the fact that they got a celebrity to perform it.

Cliff Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:35 PM EST

Someone get Zooey Deshanel on the phone; she's perfect for this.

Morgan Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:31 PM EST

I saw this clip on The Soup this weekend.. or somewhere can't remember and thought it was nuts. But I'm babysitting 3 kids (5, 5, and 6) and they LOVE this show.

paige Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:29 PM EST

he embraces being a nerd cause he's a complete hipster and hipsters loooove being nerds...

Court Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:26 PM EST

This is why I think he's a great celebrity--he is not afraid to be a total and complete nerd--he actually embraces it.

Andy Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:22 PM EST

Okay, I am laughing hysterically right now. Wow.

Anna Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 02:20 PM EST

Haha! I love Elijah!
