An EW exclusive: The latest celeb to join ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars'

Aug 21, 2007, 09:35 PM | by Pop Watch

Categories: 'Dancing With the Stars', An EW Exclusive!, Television

Wayne_l From EW senior writer Lynette Rice:

Though ABC hasn't officially announced the roster, EW has learned that Wayne Newton (pictured), aka Mr. Las Vegas, will follow in the tanned footsteps of George Hamilton and John O'Hurley when he joins Dancing with the Stars this fall. At 65, Newton still tours with the USO and makes regular appearances in his hometown of Vegas.

No word yet on which professional dancer he'll be paired with, or on the identities of his fellow competitors — but we're keeping our fingers crossed for Bob Barker since he's free as a bird (hey, a girl can dream!). ABC would not confirm or deny Newton's participation.

Judge Carrie Ann and Season 4 winner Apolo Ohno will announce the next lineup Aug. 29 on Good Morning America.

How incredibly Sad and Pathetic.

Pamela Sabatini Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 11:04 PM EST

dont most movie stars and entertainers have plastic surgery - bert reynolds, paul newman catherine zita-jones and hubby - some look good - some dont. give wayne time his face will look better when he grows a few wrinkles. he still has charm which is what most of you miseries dont have.

clara Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 09:08 PM EST

p from nashville Thu, Aug 30, 2007 at 09:08 AM EST

WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO JEALOUS OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY AND ARE STARS. IF YOU HAD HIS MONEY, YOU WOULD HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY TOO. DON'T BE SO HARD ON HIM, YOU WILL BE HIS AGE SOMEDAY, AND PROBABLY WON'T LOOK AS GOOD. SOME PEOPLE NEED SURGERY FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS DON'T CARE OR PRETEND NOT TO CARE JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT. I WOULDN'T MIND HAVING A FEW THINGS DONE, BUT I HAVE TO BE HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE, HE DOESN'T. SO, WHY CAN'T WE ALL BE KIND AND NICE AND NOT CARE WHAT HE DOES WITH LIFE, JUST BE CONCERNED WITH OUR OWN. WAYNE YOU ARE GREAT AND YOU HAVE MY VOTE.

Tara Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 08:13 PM EST

Wayne Best wishes, hope all goes well, much Love..

JAG Wed, Aug 29, 2007 at 12:47 PM EST

To the Ben and David posters. I guess all of the Wayne supporters don't hang out in the gay community, therefore, we would not know what kind of rumors circulate. However, I believe the "Wayne being gay" theory started way back with Johnny Carson and I do belive Wayne had the b**** to confront Mr. Carson face to face. Try using your "gaydar" that should rule Mr. Newton out. Good Luck Wayne, you have my vote!!!

Bronte Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 03:20 PM EST

I love you Wayne. Just try your best and enyoy.

Gina Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 07:23 AM EST

Good luck Wayne, Much love Gina.

Jermaine Tue, Aug 28, 2007 at 06:39 AM EST

Saw you in Vegas, my girlfriend took me. Honestly I wasn't so happy to go, but I have to tell you, your show was great, you are a very funny, and multitalented guy. We saw 6 shows and your show was the best hands down. I think you will do well! GOOD LUCK.

Gladys Mon, Aug 27, 2007 at 06:34 PM EST

To the People who make bad comments about Wayne Newton. You could have never met him. You would never forget him, and you'll remember Always. As a wonderful, Kind, loving, A real Southern gentelman. I have met him many times he is the Best. I'm proud to be a member of this WNIFC for 20 years. Wayne also loves to entertain our troops, Whenever and wherever they need him. Wayne, you are the best and you got my vote. Thank You for my Great Memories. A Newton Girl, Gladys

Maureen Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 10:40 AM EST

First, I would like to say that Dancing with the Stars is suppose to be an entertaining show. Wayne Newton is a total entertainner. The show has consisted of various people from different backgrounds, who have been in the spotlight during one time in their life. So why do you knock a person young or older who is willing to give it a try. I watch the show everytime it is on and have enjoyed all the contestants. Wayne will definitely add a lot to the show this coming season and I look forward to seeing all you negative people eat your words. I will be LMAO at you. People who know Wayne Newton don't have to defend him because we all know what he stands for. I hope you have a lot of fun Wayne because thats what the show is about. You have my vote.

Wayne Fan Linda Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 09:56 AM EST

Way is NOT gay. Wayne IS a living legend. Wayne IS a classy gentleman. He has manners and respects women. He has talent and perfect pitch and perfect timing. He will add so much FUN and CLASS to this show. He has a tremondous sense of humor. You all just wait! You will change your tune. This news that he will be on Dancing with the Stars is THRILLING!! I am sooooo excited. And "The Letter" song, which Wayne sang about a letter written by Elvis Presley, won the Best Music Video of the Year on MTV in the 1990s. So look it up!!!! Wayne puts on a fantastic show. He has such energy on stage and such interaction with the audience. Wayne's Friends Club has many members in their 20s, 30s & 40s and even some teenagers. So he is just not for the "cotton heads" as some rude young person with no class, wrote here. I love you Wayne. Best of luck in the competition, you are going to win!

Larry Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 03:15 AM EST

HEY WAYNE, WHICH ONE OF THE MALE PRO DANCERS WILL YOU BE PAIRED WITH??????

Frank Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 01:42 AM EST

No Kidding!!! The last song he had on the charts was 1972!!!!! LMAO

ken Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 01:39 AM EST

Living legend my a**!!! ROTFL

Elaine Basham Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 10:57 PM EST

Wayne Newton is the living legend. This man is the best entertainer with the best heart. Dancing with the Stars is very lucky to have someone of his caliber. He is an American hero, a true patriot, and I am just turning 50 and have been a loyal fan for 31 years. I have seen 84 shows in Vegas and Branson, each one more special than the last. I am so excited he is smooth graceful and has impecable timing. This IS GONNA BE WONDERFUL I can't wait. This is a real treat for American tv. If you weren't a fan before you WILL be after you see him. WE LOVE YOU WAYNE!

Fan of the Wayner Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 10:23 PM EST

One hit? What do you mean one hit? How about these to name a few..........Danke Schoen, Heart, Summer Wind, Dreams of the Every Day Housewife, Apple Blossom Time, Red Roses for a Blue Lady, Daddy Don't you Walk So Fast, The Letter, etc.............And my hair is not blue or cotton, it is natural brown.

dean Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 05:29 PM EST

The Wayner has the cheese factor and the blue haired/cotten head votes. Ugh. He will stay on that show because of that and better dancers will leave sadly. Hope they have some kinda filters to block out the brightness of those caps. His claim to fame is his one hit wonder in the 60's, being a Vegas lounge act and entertaining troops. Big Whoop.

steve Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 04:59 PM EST

U got my vote

Yana Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 04:08 PM EST

Good luck baby.

Wayne Fan Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 03:50 PM EST

I can hardly wait to see Wayne Newton on Dancing with the Stars. He will bring so much class to the show. Finally someone on the show who you know, like, and really want to win. And I never could understand these people who call him gay. Wayne has an absolutely gorgeous wife, Kat, who is a lawyer, and 2 beautiful daughters, one is grown up and married and one is about 5 years old! And he is such a manly hunk. Wayne IS the Best of the Best. And those people who say that any rich people can give time and money to charities, don't realize what Wayne does. He flys into war zones in the dark, with no lights on the plane and minimal or no lights on the air strip. He entertains our US troops in these war zones and signs autographs and takes photos. Then he goes home and personally calls some of their families. He was the first entertain to go into Afganistan and Iraq. Wayne gives so much and he doesn't have to. He loves this country and so do I. Good Luck Wayne! You're a WINNER!

Linda G. a Wayniac Sat, Aug 25, 2007 at 03:30 PM EST

Had to comment again. Wayne will bring so much to the Dancing with the stars show. Wayne has talent and class and charm and manners, and a great smile and a sense of humor. He is such a gentleman. I have been waiting patiently for you to finally put him on the show. It will be so much fun. He will amaze these people who don't know Wayne personally or who haven't been to his live show. The man has talent! I have seen his show over 100 times. He is a true patriot for all he does for the USO and our Troops. Love you Wayne and I WILL be voting for you for sure!!! I am a very proud charter member of the Wayne Newton International Friends Club, Inc., Member #110.

Ruth G. Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 07:24 PM EST

I have been a fan of Wayne Newton since I was a teenager and am also a member of the Wayne Newton International Friends Club. Note the name, Friends Club. That is how we see Wayne, as a friend and not just an entertainer. I think people need to get past how they think he looks and see the real man. He has boundless energy, more charisma than most, I think he will be an asset to the show. And so must they or they would not have asked him to be on it.I will be watching faithfully. Go for it, Wayne. I love you.

MARY KAY Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 07:18 PM EST

AS A FRIEND AND FAN OF WAYNE'S FOR OVER 30 YEARS I HAVE HEARD ALL OF THE COMMENT'S, GOOD, AND BAD. THE ONLY ONE'S WHO WILL BE SURPRISED BY WAYNE'S PERFORMANCE ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS" ARE THE ONE'S WHO DO NOT KNOW HIM. HE HAS ALWAYS HAD MY SUPPORT. NOW HE WILL HAVE MY VOTE.

lorraine Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 05:15 PM EST

WAYNE CONGRADULATIONS CANT WAIT TO WATCH YOU, YOU ARE AMAZING, 32 YEARS OLD FLORIDA

Rhea Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 05:07 PM EST

Wayne sucks!!!

CAT S./TENNESSEE Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 04:25 PM EST

Wayne always packs the house and of course entertains filled with love, laughter and songs that you can actually understand the words to, something that is really hard to find this day. Wayne is all around class act and treats everyone as if you were his best friend coming over for a visit. A man that loves his country and does so much for all, people who do not know Wayne Newton and all he has done with his God given talents should not be so curel to judge, maybe those should take a look in the mirror first before speaking unkind of others.
Wayne has my vote for Danicng with the stars, cannot wait for the show to start!!!!!!!!!!!

kitty Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 03:34 PM EST

It's alot easier for multi-millionaires to give away their time and money to charities and benefits, they have it and need the tax write offs.It does not make them a saint however.

meyou Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 03:31 PM EST

If tickets to see Wayne anywhere were free, in fact if I was paid a huge sum of money to see him I would pass. My idea of entertainment is not waitching some geriatic, who has spent enough money on cosmetic surgery to build a mansion with, do anything on a stage. He had one hit what 40 years ago is it now....and has made a career as a Vegas lounge act. Goody for him. Again, why is it Wayne fans cannot comprehend that Wayne is not a God to the entire universe? I don't care how much charitable stuff that he does either. Millions of people around the world, including myself do that too. So what? It does not make him Mother Teresa either.

WAYNIAC Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 03:29 PM EST

I have loved you for so many years, since being a teenager looking out my window daydreaming you would come down the hill to my house. I still love watching you and you are still very handsome.

The Tim's Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 03:20 PM EST

He is a humanitarian, who has given up his own personal time, money, and himself to various charities, if more people could be like him, what a wonderfull place we would live in. good luck Newton.

BOSTON GIRL Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 03:11 PM EST

Never watched the show before, but I will not only be watching it, but calling in, all because of Wayne.

Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 02:48 PM EST

You got my vote!!!!

The VanNostrand Clan Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 02:16 PM EST

We'll be watching Wayne dance to a different beat on Dancing with the Stars. The way he's danced across the stage during the many many many shows attended, he will be fabulous!

Sue C Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 12:07 PM EST

People who are so cruel in their comments simply amaze me. When Elvis as alive, I heard lots of ugly comments, but when he came to town, all those overly critical people bought up the best seats-well, that is the same with Wayne. When he performs, all those critics suddendly become fans occupying front row seats. Wayne's abilities and history speaks for itself. He has gone the distance, and keeps on giving everything that he has left. Wayne will surpass all your expectations, he does not need our defense. Wayne Rocks, and I will be there to cheer him on.

Donna Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 10:40 AM EST

Wayne, you are an amazing performer, I saw you this year in Vegas and I was blown away, I saw people of all ages in the audiance stand up and clap for you the whole time, not to mention the beautiful tribute you give to the many Americans serving for our country,it was amazing and many tears shed, as many of them stood up for a moment to be recconized. Your show was very upbeat and energetic the whole time, showing you have moves to dance and stamina to learn more, best wishes, with love, can't wait to see to attend another show.
Donna 28yrs old, Medford MA

Lea Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 09:17 AM EST

Listen up Waynster fans! Get over yourselves already. Not everyone in the world loves Wayne Newton. Why is it if people express their honest opinions on here, that you think they are jealous? NO ONE is jealous of this old guy. Jealousy has nothing to do with it. And you Waynster fans just can't handle the truth. Great, you love him, well many people don't, so deal with it. Great, you think he looks wonderful, the rest of us think he looks like warmed over oatmeal and hate his "singing" and so called performances. Again, deal with it! We are entitled to our opinions.

Emilie Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 08:48 AM EST

You all are amazing - why the 'negative' and 'nasty' remarks? That usually represents jealousy! People are so dear and life so fragile - why not spend time reaching out to people in a good way - what does all the negative do for YOU!?

Katie O'Shea Fri, Aug 24, 2007 at 12:14 AM EST

I'm rooting for Wayne! He is an icon in the entertainment world and will be amazing to watch! I can not wait to see Wayne step up to the challenge and blow away the competition!!! YEA WAYNE!!! We have always loved you!

steven Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 10:56 PM EST

To Poster Chad: Wayne IS a woman!!!! lol

sam Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 09:50 PM EST

Believe me.......no one wants to BE Wayne Newton. We saw him in Vegas (not at a show) and he looks like another poster said on here; just like a wax figure! He is a plastic surgery nightmare.

Stacey White Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 09:38 PM EST

It is a sad sight that people are so narrow minded. There are many people that could never be the person Wayne Newton is. Not only is an awesome performer, but he is a great humitarian, constantly putting on shows for our courageous soldiers. It looks like many will be eating their words once they see the great man on TV

Linda G. a Wayniac Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 08:03 PM EST

I am a VERY PROUD member of Wayne Newton's International Friends Club and hold several positions within the club. I am a true Wayniac. I have seen Wayne's show over 100 times. He is a FANTASIC performer and entertainer. He is tireless on the stage and has more energy than people half his age. He has a fantastic sense of humor and is just such a great person. His shows are such fun! He will add so much to the show Dancing with the Stars. I cannot not wait to see it. He has talent and since he sings and plays 13 instruments, and has a black belt, he CAN DANCE!! He will amaze you. These air brushed photos are not what Wayne looks like in person. Common get a life. Look at the REAL Wayne. He is Chairman of the USO Celebrity Cicle and goes on many USO tours every year to entertain our troops. He was the first to go into Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a true American Patriot. Wayne IS THE MAN! Best wishes to you in the competition Wayne! Luv ya!

uncle brucie Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 07:34 PM EST

Sorry to burst your fanatical bubble Donna, but Wayne looks embalmed! I so hope to never look like him, ever, in anyway. I don't know what's worse: The road kill teased, dyed big hair, the fake overly white caps or the tanning booth ten face lift skin. If that is what passes as attractive to you, you need to get out more.....and not just to a Wayne show. Lmao

DONNA Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 07:17 PM EST

BOY.Isee many ENVIOUS&JEALOUS people out there.I am proud to say that I am a member of the'WAYNE NEWTON'international friends club& have seen him perform , well over 100 times.WAYNES,GREAT PERSONALITY& GOOD LOOKS ARE SURE TO BRING MANY NEW VIEWERS TO THE SHOW.I am 48yrs old sincerely hopeI look as good as wayne, when I am his age.KEEP ON ROCKIN, WAYNE.WE LOVE YOU! 'YOUR MYSPACE FRIEND', DEE DEE

Leon Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 04:34 PM EST

An officer no less, lmao, in the Wayne Newyon fan club? That's quite a claim to fame. Talk about not having a life! Seeing a hundred shows???? More like a fanatic and a stalker. That says it all.

Kathy Mook Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 04:30 PM EST

I am a long-time fan of Wayne Newton. A proud member and officer in his Wayne Newton International Friends Club. Yes! I'm a Wayniac not a cotton head. I can safely say I have seen at least 100 shows down through the years. Wayne at 65 has more energy than man half his age. He is still performing in Vegas and when not he is on tour and when duty calls serves as the USO Celebrity Chairman entertaining our troups abroad. Being a true perfectionist and always giving 110% and one-if not the greatest entertainers- I'm sure he will do a great job on "Dancing With The Stars". He appears in excellent shape and works out with a trainer whenever his busy schedule warrants.
Wayne Dance On.

Trish Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 01:12 PM EST

It will be a pleasure to see Wayne Newton perform and dance. He is classy, and someone who knows what "professional behavior" is in entertaining people. He will definitely get our vote weekly.

KC SIOUX Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 01:01 PM EST

Dancing With The Stars is one of my favorite shows. The additon of Mr Wayne Newton to the line up thrills me to death, I cannot wait to see him perform. I have seen him in Vegas and there is no questioning why he has earned the love and respect of so many people. He is a truly the most talented person I have ever seen. His charm simply captivates the audiences. Mr Newton, I salute you; and I am looking forward to watching you glide across those boards!

Jamie Gardner Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 12:58 PM EST

I have been a fan of Wayne Newton for a long time. I can't wait to see him on Dancing with the Stars! And for all of those people that are putting him down, well.. I think you will be in for a suprise. WAYNE, you have my votes!!!!

Sheila Sweeney Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 12:32 PM EST

Wayne Newton is one of the most amazing entertainers in the world, and will be an outstanding addition to "Dancing with the Stars". Not only is he someone with tremendous talent, he is one of the most kind and generous performers of our generation. I predict a huge ratings jump for the show when he appears...

Jenn Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 12:30 PM EST

I am not a "cotton head", I am a 30 something and I am greatly looking forward to seeing Wayne on "Dancing witht the Stars." He is an amazing entertainer and incredibly talented. He will be dedicated to learning the dances and he will put on a great show! Clearly those who are critizing have not seen him perform. He is a great entertainer as well as humanatarian and person.

Kaleigh Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 11:46 AM EST

i think wayne will be a wonderful addition to the consestants of dancing with the stars. Not only is Wayne a amazing performer he is also an amazing person. You will not find another person who has committed their time and effort to the USO tours as much as Wayne, with his 7 trips to the Middle East and countless shows of support.

Ben There Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 10:58 AM EST

I took ballroom lessons for 15yrs. I have broke, trained and shown horses for most of my life. High level horsemanship and ballroom dancing share many skills and aspects. It may suprise people how well someone with Wayne's musicality, personality, and ability to communicate non verbally with another being, does on this show.
I am excited at the possibility of his appearance on my favorite TV show.

Louise Gibbon Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 10:42 AM EST

Well I am one of the many "cotton heads" who is 74 years young and have been a friend/fan of Wayne's since the 70's and I will be until I die. You "negative doubters" that are questioning his abilities and looks are going to be in for big surprise! Wayne has the talent, charisma, rhythm and he is very agile. In just a matter of mintes, Wayne has his audienes that come to his shows in the palm of his hand with his enthsiasm, tireless energy and charm. I can also tell you that many of the "younger generation" come to his shows and enjoy every minute! So just sit back and watch the show and enjoy the Wayne we all know and love. Wayne - we will be right there with you all the way!! Louise

Diane Cashman Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 10:24 AM EST

I have seen many Wayne shows over many years and would hope I am as agile as he is. I think he is charming and will do a great job if selected, he'll have my vote

To Dark Dot Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 09:12 AM EST

What a bunch of losers! Go have a conversation with DARK DOT. She seems to have the market on Stupiditis. You will all grow old someday, and it wont be a pretty picture.

SS Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 06:38 AM EST

I think the show was designed for all people from all walks of life - young and old. The previous poster seems so certain that Wayne cannot dance - he may surprise you! Personally, I am truly looking forward to seeing the next season and even more so since Wayne is being considered. It is a great show and if Wayne does as good at dancing as he does at performing than he deserves the votes!

ann Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 10:55 PM EST

To the poster below, if you think watching Mr.P drag and stomp and walk his way across a dance floor and you also think Jerry Springer is great entertainment, no wonder you are such a Wayner fan! Yeah lets have more celebs who cannot dance at all (like Billy R last year) so that the stars who are in shape and actually learn the steps and can dance are sent home first.

man Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:38 PM EST

I REALLY AM GLAD THAT DANCING WITH THE STARS DOES NOT JUST HAVE CELEBRITYS ON THE SHOW THAT ARE YOUNG,BEAUTIFUL, AND IN PERFECT SHAPE. I AM REALLY GLAD THEY HAVE STARS LIKE WAYNE NEWTON, JERRY SPRINGER, AND EVEN MASTER P ON THE SHOW. IT WOULD NOT BE AS ENTERTAINING IF EVERY ONE ON THE SHOW WAS BEAUTIFUL AND GRACEFUL AND KNEW HOW TO DANCE.

Jean Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:30 PM EST

I can not believe how narrow minded and ugly you people are. You should be half the person Wayne Newton is. He will certainly get my vote. Be sure and watch because you may learn something from a very kind and talented person.

Dave Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:00 PM EST

We actually saw Wayne in a casino recently in Vegas. Believe me, he looks exactly like the wax figure of himself at the Wax Museum there. It was not a pretty site.

Ellen Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 06:36 PM EST

Obviously, from the post in here very few know Mr. Newton. He is an excellent entertainer, and humanitarian. Can you actually say you ever saw him in person? If you haven't then don't critize someone you know nothing about. Proud to say, he is truly a genuine gentleman.

Melinda Nelson Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 06:00 PM EST

Why do people have to be so mean? I think in the past seasons all the dancers old or young did it because they though it would be fun. They have all said it was alot of work but they enjoyed it. I wish Mr. Newton well and have fun. I will be voting each and every time and my vote will be for you.

Betty&Bob Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:56 PM EST

Correction: really bad DYED hair. lol Hard to picture he pays a stylist a fortune for that thing on his head. lmao

Betty&Bob Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:54 PM EST

Sorry folks, but he looks 80 and not 65! He looks like crap frankly. If I looked that bad at his age, I'd stay away from a camera. Air brushed???? (as the poster below voiced) LMAO Hell with that many face lifts and no skin at all left, he doesn't need airbrushing. His skin looks like a tanned hide! And the jet black died big hair is so unattractive and so 70's.....please!

Sandy Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:43 PM EST

What is wrong with you people – why do you have to be so mean and insulting! Are any of you familiar with airbrushing photos? If you think that every photograph taken of a celebrity is really what they look like - than you people need to get lives! I have met Wayne in person and he has aged with grace and dignity. How many pictures taken of yourselves would you want put on the Internet for the world to dissect? Give the guy a break – if I look even half as good as Wayne at 65 I will be happy – and he’s also in great shape. Just so you know - I am not what was referred to as a cotton head but he will definitely get my vote - dance on Wayne!!!!

Maureen Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:23 PM EST

Wayne Newton will add a nice touch to the show. He has a lot of charmisa and I for one will enjoy watching him. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Banning, Hendrika Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:09 PM EST

I am thrilled, Mr. Las Vegas being on the show and he will get ALL my votes - He is a gentleman-kind-and sincere!!! He has entertained millions honoring each one in the audience at the same moment-that is not easy-Henny

C Rodz Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 04:40 PM EST

Like how much under eye concealer can a person possibly need?!? Gee Wayne!! Leave some for the rest of us who really need it!

OhmyOnion Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:58 PM EST

The best part of this announcement was that APOLO OHNO will be announcing the new lineup. Good luck to all of the contestants, because no one will come close to Apolo's star quality or have his brilliant expressive smile. I want an All-Stars!

Barb Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:29 PM EST

Ah come on folks..hes got the money and if it makes him feel young then so be it..but remember the insides are still 65... Oh and so are his knees!!!Wish I could afford a crystal staircase in my house...

Chad, Denver, CO Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:18 PM EST

If you look at just his face, obscuring the hair and the chest, he looks completely like a woman.

Susan Carter Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:04 PM EST

Finally, a true star with so many talents that a normal person cannot even begin to relate to-Mr Newton is tops in my books-and until another comes along with even half his talents, he will remain Number 1. Cheers to you Wayne, I am supporting you all the way.

Leslie Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:42 PM EST

This is a top 10 show-can't they get better celebs?

To Ep Sato Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 10:55 AM EST

This article sounds perfect for a know-it-all named Ep Sato. Lets see what he can come up with this time. By the way congratulations to you and your granny wife.

Tuzo Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:01 AM EST

I guess Robert Goulet was unavailable. ;)

ed Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:41 AM EST

The picture of the girl that's posted, who's going to be her partner?

Snug Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:16 AM EST

What's frightening is that Wayne Newton has a huge following amongst the cotton-heads. That alone will keep him on the show probably longer than he should stay.

snarky Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:59 AM EST

SPOILER ALERT.......

I read on a reality show website that Jennie Garth (from 90210) and Mel B of the Spice Girls are signed up. I thought the Spice Girls were going on tour???

Jilly Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:48 AM EST

What's the point of tightening your face when your neck and chest are still wrinkly and saggy?

I need sunglasses looking at those teeth.

FLIPPER Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:23 AM EST

There's just something about these celebs who do this to themselves that makes me feel so sorry for them. I mean, do they think they look great? Does the king of plastic surgery, Micheal Jackson actually look in the mirror and feel comfortable about it?
I'll keep my wrinkles and semi-big nose, thank you.
At least their talents are still intact, or are they?

BA Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 01:06 AM EST

Lovely hair helmet there Wayne. Just lovely. Great that you have the five gray hairs in there too for authenticity for your actual age. My Newfoundland looks better.

Ron Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:48 AM EST

Just because you can afford 25 plastic surgeries, doesn't mean you should get them all. Can you bounce a dime off that stretched skin or what? Not to mention the out of control bright as the sun, blinding, white caps. Good Lord.

Dee Dee Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:24 AM EST

Be afraid. Be very afraid. This is just wrong and somewhat scarey! What do you bet they get him to sing too? Yikes!

Richard Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 10:47 PM EST

Wayne's photo looks like the lead-in to a story about "When Plastic Surgery Goes Wrong". Think twice, Mr. Newton.

Sally Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 10:44 PM EST

I hope I look as good as Wayne when I'm 65...I am soooo looking forward to this!

whoohoo Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 10:00 PM EST

ick

Stephen Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:42 PM EST

I'm not excited.

Snarf Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:26 PM EST

Oh dear.
