I Saw It, So You Don't Have To: 'I Know Who Killed Me'

Jul 31, 2007, 01:30 PM | by Michael Slezak

Categories: Film, I saw it, so you don't have to!

Poster_l Don't ever let anyone say I don't care about you, PopWatch readers. Last night, I threw myself in front of a cinematic bullet for the sole purpose of making sure you'll be fully informed as you stand around the water cooler and laugh with your friends about Lindsay Lohan's deeply unpleasant new movie, I Know Who Killed Me. Sure, you've seen the trailer, and the spoofs of the trailer, but trust me, they can't even begin to prepare you for this movie's astronomical levels of jankitude.

Be warned: I am about to spoiler the bejeezus out of this dog, because you should not under any circumstance — not even in an ironic, ha-ha kind of way — see this revolting, amateurish movie. Not in theaters. Not on DVD. Not even on a 15-hour flight when you've finished a trifecta of InTouch, Us, and Star, and you don't have anything better to do than close your eyes and feel enraged by that hyperactive toddler who keeps kicking the back of your seat. Seriously. I Know Who Killed Me is 105 minutes of your life you will never get back. It has five long scenes of featuring Lohan bound, gagged, and squealing in pain/terror, and three extended scenes of Lohan performing a lethargic striptease. Plus, I swear, 90 percent of the film's props are a shade of blue: the roses Lindsay gets from her boyfriend, the gag the killer uses to suppress her screams, her shower scrunchie, her hospital sheets, her bedroom walls, her sweatpants, her MP3 player, the wrapper for the condom she uses with her boyfriend — all freakin' blue.

Anyhow, if you want the low (and I do mean low) down on the entire craptacular, take the I Know Who Killed Me quiz — after the jump!

1. Lohan's strip-club scenes are made all the more disturbing when:
(A) she lies on her back and forms a giant "V" with her legs
(B) she takes a skeezy patron's cigarette, runs it along her thigh, then returns it to him so he can lazily run the length of it under his nose
(C) blood begins to drip down the pole she is in the process of "working"
(D) all of the above

2. During the film's climactic moments, all of the following events occur except:
(A) A kindly owl guides Lohan's character through the woods
(B) A jaunty possum distracts the killer from discovering Lohan's character
(C) Lohan's character makes a frantic 911 call
(D) Lohan's character shatters a glass coffin with her prosthetic fist

3. A wave of nausea swept over me when:
(A) I finished a box of Cookie Dough Bites all by my lonesome
(B) Lohan's "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)" began to play during a particularly dramatic scene
(C) the killer removed a block of ice from Lohan's character's blue-black hand, peeling off layers of skin, then began sawing off said digits with a blue-glass blade
(D) all of the above

4. Lohan's character's beloved pet is a:
(A) tutu-wearing pug
(B) pot-bellied pig
(C) hairless cat
(D) boa constrictor

5. At one point, Lohan's character visits Ask.com and searches the term:
(A) "box-office poison"
(B) "Yale admissions forms"
(C) "bleeding wounds unexplained"
(D) "how to make an American quilt"

6. All of the following stars make surprising appearances in I Know Who Killed Me except:
(A) YouTube sensation Lonelygirl 15
(B) Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz
(C) My Name Is Earl's Darnell (Eddie Steeples)
(D) 24's President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin)

7. Lohan's character utters all of the following lines except:
(A) "I know who killed me!"
(B) "I always felt like half a person with half a soul."
(C) "Daniel, I'm not Aubrey, I'm her twin!"
(D) "I can't believe it's not butter!"

8. The film's deranged killer bears an eerie resemblance to a member of:
(A) Blue Man Group
(B) Lost's notorious band of "Others"
(C) Menudo
(D) The View's "Hot Topics" panel

9. While washing her hair, Lohan's character is shocked to discover that:
(A) the killer is standing next to the linen cabinet
(B) her finger has turned gangrenous and bloody
(C) she is not a natural brunette.
(D) Suave really does work as well as those expensive salon brands.

10. The film's shocking twist is that:
(A) Lohan's kidnapped character Aubrey has never actually escaped captivity, but has imagined a rich fantasy world of a character named Dakota to help her endure weeks of heinous torture.
(B) After escaping her captor, Lohan's character Aubrey creates a second persona named Dakota to help relay to FBI investigators the details of her weeks of heinous torture.
(C) Lohan's kidnapped character Aubrey has a secret twin named Dakota who experiences "psychic stigmata" — a phenomenon where Dakota's own appendages inexplicably fall off whenever the killer cuts off Aubrey's corresponding limbs — and Dakota comes to this realization just in time to save the day.
(D) Lohan's deranged character Aubrey creates a rich fantasy life where she envisions herself as a murder victim, when in actuality, she is really the killer!

The movie was o.k. I guess,serious

t.l.castro Sat, Oct 4, 2008 at 09:02 PM EST

I have to agree with Kim...aside from the wave of "raspbery" reviews and yes, lack of depth in each character, the movie itself wasn't completely horrible. I liked the vividness of the "blues" and "reds" that defined the two sisters (maybe because I'm ana artist)...Lohan is not a deep actress at all, but neither are the parts she portrays, yet there is just something about her that draws you in, even for a few minutes...maybe even if it's just to see what happens next...if anythung does actually happen, that is. However, I also agree with the point being: without the adamance of the colors, the movie would more than likely caused me to lose interest in the first few seconds.

Kim Sat, Aug 30, 2008 at 10:28 PM EST

Ok....so after all the absolutely horrible reviews for "I Know Who Killed Me", I was definitely not running to theaters to see it. I did watch it once it hit my movie channel though, with extremely low expectations I might add. But I have to say I really don't know what people are talking about. I liked it. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was entertaining enough. The last 30 minutes were a bit cheesy (for lack of a better word) but the first 3/4 were pretty good. The stripping scenes could have been shorter, but that's just my personal taste. So if you haven't seen this flick yet due to all of the horrible reviews, give it a chance. You probably won't ben disappointed either.

YOU who wrote this stuff you sound sooo jelous of lindsay, linds isnt the only one in the world that doing striptease movie, demi moore did,and stigmata well patricia arquette did, stop judging lilo she maybe enjoys scary stuff like i do,This is one of the best anti christ movies ever;)and aubrey and dakota are twins..the mothers baby died in hospital so daniel bought from a crackgirl who had twins, and stigmata is about christian or not..and about blue and red that was a proof that they WERE twiiiins..dakota had a bad life and at the cemetary she read"blue ribbons is for winners never settled u r self red"dakota is all red,she was not as blue winner as aubrey..and plz Lindsay is back on track she had it rough,so goo se this movie NOW//Isabella aka icey "iceysmoment" on youtube comment there...BYEE

Trish Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 11:51 PM EST

Well besides the ending and the random stripper scenes, the movie was goodish. I mean it wasn't a TOTAL waste of my life. Yes, she really had a twin, because Dakota figured it out and confronted Aubrey's "father" about it. When his wife lost their baby, he bought one of the identical twins from the druggie down the hall at the hospital and never told his wife about it and he just paid off the druggie [who gave birth to BOTH Dakota and Aubrey]. The ending just left too many loose ends. Like did Dakota and Aubrey die?? And why did they have to kill Aubrey's "father"? And was the killer Aubrey's piano teacher? Because he kinda looked like the guy. And why did Dakota take so long to tell someone she was randomly losing limbs? I would've told someone the moment I lost a finger inexplicably. Sure, they probably would've locked her up in a nut house, but they would've believed her eventually after her leg and her arm came off. But still, I'm glad I just waited for the movie to come on HBO.

sweet Sun, Aug 3, 2008 at 02:35 PM EST

i think ppl seem 2 b abit confused about the movie, dakota didnt really have a twin,it was all in aubreys head, trying to find out who killed her,the ending is dakota(aubery)with aubery showing that she is dying.

confused Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 06:11 AM EST

hey everyone, ive read most of the comments by people. But im still not sure about the movie and ive seen it, so were there twins or what?

samantha Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 09:18 AM EST

Ok like the movie wasn't that bad, I mean clmon it could have been worse. But I just remembered something, I was wondering why did she flippin lay down next to Aubrey instead of get help? But remember she had no other choice cause her fake leg had a low battery.lol Its like when u were a kid and u get a christmas gift that u just might play with but den when u check it says: Batteries Not Included*. It was one of those times. From now on she should never leave the house withoit a pack of AA batteries. :0

samantha Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:46 AM EST

Well, I think the movie was ok but wat got me confused is how the hell the twin was found in aubrey's home town and they never bumped into each other. Like that was a litle dumb and like, how did aubrey write a story of her twin, did she know she really existed? I didn't understand that part. I was pretty confused and what's with all the freakin blue and then dakota loved red? I think that yes, there's always a other half to something but it depends the situation. If it was like that then does everyone have a twin? Now that I think of it, the movie was lame. But the cutting fingures n blue hand with the skin stuck to the ice was cool. Im happy they showed that part cuz a lot of movies don't show all the "good" graphics. ^_^

illfamous Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 02:39 PM EST

The movie was totally awsome i watched it two days in a row. I love how the order of the movie went. But in a little way it kinda freaked out me and my sister because we r twins but of course what happened in the movie doesnt happen to me and my sister.

Knarik Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 02:50 AM EST

This was actually an interesting movie. It didn't reveal anything til the end. i could of sweared that the father was the killer, but no, it was that psycho old man. i love all of lindsay's movies, and alhtough it was much different than all her other movies, this is no exception. she's a pretey great actress, and i agree with most of you with the strip scene. i don't mind having a strip scene in there, but it was a super long scene, like 'WE GET IT ALREADY!' other than that, i pretey much liked it, except the part where they made dakota seem like a major badass, it seemed as if they were overdoing it with the sex scene and everything. the excitement was there, and i loved all the bloody scenes, it made the movie even more interesting in a way.

Hey people need to watch there mouths like that dumb retard slappy that is inapropriate he needs to go off the web for a bit it is bad and there are kids that come on here like age 10,11,12

Iloved this movie a lot.

Rachael Sat, Jul 19, 2008 at 08:44 PM EST

I liked this movie because I thought nothing of Linsey Lohan, until I seen her act in this movie. She did a great job at dipicting her characters, to where, Dakota especially, fit the movie. Her anger, fear, etc, was all very real for the movie. Although, the story line in the ending needed some work.

Mia Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 12:53 AM EST

I hate how Lindsay was such a cool person. She had it all. Looks, talent, etc. Drugs and whatev really ruined her life. It's relly stupid 'cuz I didn't think someone would do such a thing when they have all that. I guess Dummy didn't care. She reminds me of a whatev hair version of Britney Spears. What is with Hilary Duff? Sorry. I'm so off topic. I don't really want to write about this movie. Oh! Her dad is a total banana head for not telling his wife they adopted and her real child died and her twin and....yeah. I LOVE TREVOR!!!

Mia Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 12:46 AM EST

OMG! Lindsay was such a good actress in this movie! Now she totally ruined her life. She doesn't deserve to be in such good movies. PULL IT TOGETHER, LINDS!

Jorge Sat, Jul 5, 2008 at 01:39 PM EST

Lindssssssssssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ooooo'minnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeee¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¿

Amina Wed, Jul 2, 2008 at 07:07 PM EST

The part where Dakota is at the strip club was very wrong. Everyone knows Lohan would do somthing that the in real life but she shouldn't cause its trifflin'.My real point is the music that was played when Dakota was telling the story had a nice rythme and beat but she messed it up with all that "stuff" she was doing. No homo

P.S
TRIFFLIN!!!!!

Amina Wed, Jul 2, 2008 at 07:01 PM EST

This movie was probably one of the best movies that Lohan did (rather than the Parent Trap and Mean Girls). Except the parts that everyone wishes weren't in the movie, you know, the part where the murdedrer takes out dry ice and burns her hand until it looks like a burnt hotdog. I get the whole story, Lohan playing as Dakota, her mom is a crack head who sells one of her twins (Aubrey)to the man because his baby dies, Lohan playing as Aubrey says she's half a person with half a soul, she quites her piano lessons, the murderer ends up being the piano teacher and the whole nine yards. Also, thanks for telling Lohan that she read of people who sit behind at the movie therater who kill ypu and no one knows until the movie is over and you don't get up, I will have to keep that one in mind the next time I go to the movies lol:D

Brian Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 11:49 AM EST

I thought this movie was ridiculous and unbelievable. It was very predictable, as soon as she quit her piano lessons it was obvious the teacher was the murderer. Also made no sense that Aubrey was able to tap into Dakota's life (via her stories) but Dakota only got to feel Aubrey's pain. Also have to love that the skinny piano teacher overpowered the relatively in shape father, after having his hand cut off. But highlight of the movie had to be the end when Aubrey and Dakota are cuddling, being the close sisters that they are. I wonder if Aubrey saw Dakota sleeping with her boyfriend, and how that conversation is going to go later, not well I would guess. And finally when the father agreed there was no time to call for help, are you telling me this rich family has no cell phones! c'mon. Terrible

Rachelle Tue, Jun 24, 2008 at 10:26 PM EST

I saw this movie last night. I actually liked it, except for the parts where Lohan was performing in the strip club... very disturbing. And long. Honestly, throughout the whole movie -- until it was revealed, of course -- I was trying to figure out who the killer was. I assumed it was the boyfriend because Aubrey woudn't sleep with him, then I assumed it was the father. But I didn't figure it out, so I liked that. I thought it was scary... maybe because it was three in the morning and I was alone, maybe it was because my skunk clawed at my door at random times, but it was spooky. I would watch it again. In fact, I have my TV programmed to tune into it on Thursday. I recommend that you watch it -- but not alone :D

Starla Tue, Jun 24, 2008 at 10:17 PM EST

I kinda liked this movie. Minus the strip scenes which did not really have much to do with the plot line, the movie itself was rather good. I felt that Lindsay's first "real" movie in the rated R category was somewhat a step into real stardom. She needs to work on her acting skills as far as making the audience believe in her terror more, I found the words she used to be both stupid and boring in the fact that no one under those circumstances would ever use... On a grading scale I give this movie as follows:

Acting skills D-
Thriller aspect B+
Adult acceptance C
Plot Line B

Overall score: B-

hey guys... Sat, Jun 21, 2008 at 12:07 AM EST

why post comments that ONLY ARE IN CAPS? whats the point? to get poor internet addicted people to look at your stupid stuff?no offense...

Hey guys... Sat, Jun 21, 2008 at 12:04 AM EST

I just sae this movie, and I kinda thought that it was a little stupid. I mean, the plot was good, teh chrachters were right, and there was good stuff in it to keep you busy. teh thing is, how all yoo guys say that "oh yea I figured out the plot in like 5 minutes".... blah blah blah no one really frickin cares. cause you know what? i actually took my tiem figurign it out, and I knew when I saw the blue cascat that it was the piano teacher. so yea i guess i kinda liked the movie! see ya guys...ttyl and feel free to email me at Jteystar@aol.com!

J.F Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 01:26 PM EST

I loved the movie...but i was disappointed by the ending, i wanted to kno what the mother might of done when she found out, if the twin stayed closly in touch, if the dad died...but overall i liked it

Holly Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 06:02 PM EST

I did enjoy this movie although I couldn't understand why the killer picked Aubrey. Was it because she quit his piano class? Or just coincidently? I thought the movie had some very good twists to it, but I didn't like the ending. Did the father die? And what happens to Aubrey and Dakota? Overall I really did enjoy this movie (minus the gross black hand, skin peeling off thing) I would give it a 9/10

dith Sun, Jun 8, 2008 at 03:57 AM EST

i know who killed me to..!!!! =)

pixy Fri, Jun 6, 2008 at 10:20 PM EST

This peticular movie was decent. Everyone seems to forget that she has played her own twin at least once before. Granted, the other movie was a remake of a generally kid related movie, she still successfully pulled off the whole twins thing. As far as this peticular movie goes, I just watched it today; and yes I only came here after mimicing her actions in the movie. The thing that I find most interesting is the fact that she was writing a book about her twin sister, which in turn, leads me to believe that Aubry knew and was intending on finding said twin anyway. The whole stripper thing was clearly a statement that not all twins are exactly alike in personality or the way that they dress. However, this movie was a one time only view for me.

Elizabetha Tue, Jun 3, 2008 at 11:24 PM EST

I dont understand why everyone says this movie is so bad honestly i enjoyed it i wont say its the best movie out there but it is entertaining and there are worse movies out there..

the reason why they dont have the same mother or father is because
dakotas mom was the one that had two babies and she gave one away for money to the other family because there real baby had died

bartholemew Sun, Mar 30, 2008 at 01:52 AM EST

Interesting and thought provoking plot line with absolutely tragic acting and direction. Twins separated at birth both grow up feeling like there is another 1/2 to them missing. One is raised with a good family, while the other is raised under the roof of a loser mother who eventually overdoses on drugs and dies. The good twin (Aubrey) is missing and forced to endure grueling torture at the hands of her vengeful piano lessons teacher (because she announces that she is going to stop playing piano)...so he punishes her by amputating her right hand and foot. (No more piano for you young lady!). The bad twin (Dakota) is suffering from Stigmata that is directly connected to the pain her twin is enduring...and when found, everyone thinks she's Aubrey. Through incohesive direction and awful acting, the story brings Dakota to where Aubrey is buried and left to die. Dakota curls up next to her lost twin and all is well again. Puh-lease! Don't waste your time with this one. Trust me.

I just finished watching the movie twice because the first time i didn't really get it and plus i was watching pretty late but wanted finish the movie. The good thing about it is that i didn't get to dream of it. It was pretty crazy and creepy at the same time because of all the blood dripping and blue images. I'd never thought Lindsay would do such a thing but she was AWESOME on her part in the scenes. I really enjoyed the movie and wonder if it is true about STIGMATA and happening to the twins and so on. Pretty much curious here. If you guys can tell me e-mail or let me know please. Thank you for putting up a good movie =)!!

great movie Fri, Mar 21, 2008 at 04:16 AM EST

i thought this was a good movie. i didn't want to see it at first because every lindsay lohan movie i've seen has been more appealing to younger kids but she nailed this part. i thought it was disturbing, yes, but it was great. definitely kept me on my toes the entire time.

i think it's WONDERFULLY DIFFERENT!
a good movie is one that sticks to your head, keeps you guessing to the end, and makes you feel a number of emotions.
and this one did for me.
the movie is a poetic, disturbing piece of work and Lohan has a lot of guts staking her career in making this film, which i believe she knows would rock the critics, and not in a good way.
i particularly like the ending.
if they had gone for help it would've made it predictable!

carolynn Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 06:16 PM EST

i dont think she died at the end cause she found her twin sister and she was alive they were smiling together and she decided to lay down with her and the piano guy was the killer he upsess with hands and legs that what you use for the piano there mother was a crack head and the mother who raised her baby died 2 days in the inkerbrator and the father took the twin baby from the crack head down the hall that why they felt things for each other so that why everything start happening when she got kidnapped from the killer

Why do everybody have to be so harsh to Lindsay..? It's a really good movie and I loved it, but you have to see it two or three times to understand the meaning! Look..: Aubrey Fleming loves blue, she plays the piano and loves to write. She get kidnapped after a football match, it's the piano teacher who is cutting off her hand and leg. She get burried in a blue chest beacuse; "Blue is for winners, don't live with the red!"
Dakota Moss is her identical twin sister, that means that she get hurt, just like her sister, at the same time... Dakota loves red, she lives with her true mom who dies. Dakota is a stripper beacause that's the only job she could get. She looses her hand and leg in a mysterious way, she fell off and someone finds her and get her to a hospital. Aubrey's parents, who really not are her parents, thinks that Dakota is Aubrey, and no one believes her.. She finds the reason of her bleeding, and finds out that she is Aubrey's twin sister, she finds her and dies with her.

peanut Mon, Jan 14, 2008 at 09:29 PM EST

the reviewer is totally right. this movie suuuuuuuuuuucked! amateurish, predictable, a waste of film. if you didn't get it from the moment the piano teacher said "watch this hand", you're an idiot. i laughed so hard when the owl hooted at just the right moment... it might as well have been saying "dig here... dig here...". and when she told her father that she just figured out that she was aubrey's twin... omg. awful. horrible. stupid. symbolism? right. symbolism is supposed to be subtle, not hit you over the head with someone's fake wooden leg.

Basically, if you didn't understand this movie, you obviously have no artistic view at all. This movie was largely based on symbolism; two halves to everything, etc. And the ending was beautiful, to be honest. Dakota found Aubrey, meeting her identical twin for the FIRST TIME in her life. It's a big moment. Neither of them had the energy to run for help at that point, but aside from obvious physical restraints, the ending is artistic. Apparently none of you are big Tim Burton fans, eh? Tragic endings are always the best. I would give the movie a 10, straight up. It was brilliant. It's one of the few movies nowadays that can keep you guessing right until the very end, and I like that.

It was interesting....by far. I'm not sure if i have developed an opinion on the whole movie yet. I'm a collecter of horror and suspense movies but this one.... makes me think. Yes as some said parts were corny, but I do believe it had a good suspense line. The ending sucked! and the alternate ending sucked too! but, it's not Lindsey's fault... it's the writing. I do agree.... a part 2 might make part 1 more worth watching.

Lisa Mon, Jan 7, 2008 at 09:16 AM EST

I thought the movie was awesome. I watched it twice before returning it. It's even better the 2nd time, cause you catch clues you missed the first time. I totally got the "blue-ness" the 2nd time around. To answer some questions posted here, the killer was the piano instructer. She found out when she noticed the 1st girl that was killed was also a YA winner instructed by the killer, as was Aubrey. The only thing i didn't like was that she said "I know who killed me" b/c she wasn't actually killed. Kinda corny, and I don't understand the killers fascination with prostetic legs, either, unless HE had a prosthetic leg himself and that's why he tortured and killed the way he did?? I, too, would LOVE to see a part 2, but don't see it happening. The ending was kind of disappointing, but think about it, and that's part of what made it good. You have to figure out the "rest of the story" yourself. GREAT MOVIE!!!!

linda Sun, Jan 6, 2008 at 09:23 PM EST

Would someone tell me who the killer was, I didn't even know who he was.

steff Tue, Dec 11, 2007 at 11:56 AM EST

well the movie was kind of weird specially the part that whatever was happening to aubrey was happening to dakota, i mean i know they are twins n ive heard stories taht whatever your twing is feeling you sense it also which is frigging weird also but more explainable . i have nothing against lohan shes a good actress i mean lets be honest shes been acting since she was lil. doesnt ne one remember the parent trap taht she also played the twin the. but she was a good actress for the movie i know who liked me because since she grew up all thats been said about her is that shes a trouble maker on drugs and so on .... which most of it is true plus she loves to show off alot specially her body so the stripper part def went good with her is def her character in real life but the good aubrey is a character that hilary duff should be playing it not linsey and does anyone realize the new britney video gimme more britney cannot get her own frigging ideas that she has to capy sum1 elses.

Obviously "C Dub" didn't get the plot and certainly didn't understand the movie. My 22 year old daughter and I watched it tonight and I thought is was really good. I thought I had it figured out, then the twist of the plot and it was like "oh wow... I get it now"! Figuring out who the killer was kept me going... I'm not a huge LiLo fan, but I thought she did okay in this... at least it wasn't another "chick flick" :)

Woodrow Fri, Nov 30, 2007 at 02:20 PM EST

Granted I'm not a big fan Lindsay Lohan, but I really enjoyed this movie. At first I thought she had developed a split personality and wanted revenge on the killer. As she went looking for clues and came across the Young Artist awards, the game was up for me: the awards were the only connection between the victims. But all in all, I liked the movie despite Lindsay's role in it.

chuck Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 11:57 PM EST

I watched the movie and didn't think it was as bad as everyone made it to be... it wasn't the most thrilling or captivating movie either but the movie did get boring at times... I have seen worst movies than this and I wonder if everyone is trashing the movie only because Lindsay Lohan is in it...

As for the shades of blue did you ever take an english course it was a red harring meaning it was foreshadowing an event that is what it was used plus in the beginning which i bet you didn't watch you would know that it was her audbreys school colours and the roses where symbols god when writing an review on a movie please keep in mind its like a stroy but with pictures instead of words like f@$% instead of having something described to you in words it is in pictures, god, get a clue critics what ever happen to good critics, they can't wait to hate on a movie you'd think it gives them power over something like geez i am gonna ruin this actresses life well ask yourselves this critics do you make millions of dollars NO so grow up watch a movie judge a movie on a whole, not just the people in it. there has been tons of movies that where stupid and yet they are critically acclaimed and guess what they were stupid

katie Fri, Sep 7, 2007 at 06:11 PM EST

One the movie wasn't bad i will admit that i hate lindsay lohan and i mean hate but the movie wasn't bad think about it
1) did you believe it was in her head, yes you did, every movie has a twist if it was in her head do you think it would of been better
2) did you know who the killer was righy away no, so you were kept in suspence,
3) Did it make you scream when you saw the dry ice being removed from her hand yes,
People judged the movie on what not the movie the movie was good, the judged the movie because it was lindsay lohan,
If it was any other actress guarntee morons like micheal slezak who wrote the review above would have enjoyed it and before you say anything i am a movie buff and every genre has to have components subplots etc.. to make it a great movie and this was a suspense thiller and had everything a suspense thiller a twist not knowing all the information till the end, a disappreance and a murder at the beginning, trials and tribulations of the main character

C Dub Tue, Sep 4, 2007 at 07:02 AM EST

Horrendously unbelievable. I thought that it seriously almost looked like a sort of okay movie. But that plot twist is the worst plot twist I've ever heard in a movie in my entire life. How did that make any sense?

I showed my resolve & thats that! I Swear! Thanks for thinking of me! Its part of what makes visiting PopWatch daily fun for me, and I hope for many of you as well!

"I hate coming off like is bothering me, cause its not..."

Phil, my man, I'm gonna tell you this because you're a fellow Popwatch peep, and I care about ya...you have to let this go.

Also, I don't think anyone believes that this is NOT bothering you.

I agree totally with your insight (I've actually expressed the Lohan/Barrymore idea myself) and I've been where you are right now. I'm sure a lot of us have. We've had an idea, maybe we expressed it before anyone else, it catches on and we want some credit for it...and we don't always get it. It stinks, but we move on. And I'm sure you will too.

Phil Thu, Aug 2, 2007 at 03:35 PM EST

Typing responses in ALL CAPS is so immature. Yes, I've got plenty of more important things to care about in my daily life Nunya. But I'm a strong willed individual, who stands up for himself when challenged in any capacity. You'd understand & appreciate my tenacity to be correct if you were informed as myself... but then again, you still think Anderson Cooper is straight. Look inside yourself, and you know when you feel strongly about something, you defend yourself. I'm a person that sticks to my word, so when I know I said something I defend myself, and when I am at fault or wrong, I definitely apologize, but I don't understand how someone could attack me for my criticism when, when I stand by my word. As with any blog posts, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it just seems people make so many posts they tend to forget what they posted about a day, or a week, or even a month prior. I'm NOT one of those people. This movie tanked, Lohan needs help, I truly hope she gets it.

nunya Thu, Aug 2, 2007 at 03:04 PM EST

PHIL, NOBODY CARES!! LOHAN/ BARRYMORE IS NOT AN INSIGHTFUL COMMENT - ACCESS HOLLYWOOD MADE THE CONNECTION AT LEAST A YEAR AGO! DON'T YOU HAVE ANYTHING ELSE YOU CARE ABOUT??

Phil Thu, Aug 2, 2007 at 02:05 PM EST

http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007/07/happy-birthday-.html

Simply because I am SICK of defending MY comments, this is from exactly a month ago, where I made the Lohan/Barrymore comparison, OK? I hate coming off like is bothering me, cause its not, but someone challenges me, I ALWAYS defend myself when I know I have logic to back me up!

to Phil Thu, Aug 2, 2007 at 08:05 AM EST

Phil, I don't think the idea that Drew Barrymore is a good role model for troubled young actresses is groundbreaking enough for you to be taking credit for it. I've heard that idea for years now whenever a young starlet has trouble, so I wouldn't claim that people are stealing that idea from you. My mother has said it before, and I'm pretty sure she's not scouring the EW blog for your "insightful" posts.

Astroboy747 Wed, Aug 1, 2007 at 04:25 PM EST

I wonder if Lohan herself experiences "psychic stigmata" — a phenomenon where Lohan inexplicably smells poop all the time when her movie stinks.

Joe C Wed, Aug 1, 2007 at 11:12 AM EST

Lol, Michael, thanks for 'taking one for the team' as they say in baseball. Poor Lindsey; ya gotta feel sorry for---ah, no you don't. She just needs to take a break from Hollywood.....

Ep Sato Wed, Aug 1, 2007 at 09:43 AM EST

Phil, smart minds think alike. The "Y the Last man" comic argues that once an idea's in someone's head, it grows into everyone else's. Sort of a group conscience.

I too have promoted the "Drew Barrymore school for lost actresses" before, but it may be you thought of this first. Whoever said it first, the idea's a good one.

We've all posted plenty of ideas, and some of them have been taken up as suggestions by EW's people, and some have even become series or movies. I call it the "popwatch genie" whenever something I've requested on this board becomes a reality (like the Flash Gordon tv show was announced or when Lucky Louie got cancelled). For what it's worth, I dig what you've got to say and appreciate your contribution to the comments board.

"Umbrella" dominated the charts w/o Chris Brown's help, as well as "Rehab" w/o Jay-Z. Please don't start the song of summer crap. It's an old conversation, plus why does one song have to be EVERYONE'S s.o.s. Mine is that song "Wind UP" by KAte Deluna. Let's just move on, sorry for starting a moronic fight. I'll give you credit I guess, but I don't know why it's so important in this case, look what you're arguing for.

Phil Wed, Aug 1, 2007 at 12:19 AM EST

If you can't understand how this differs in the simple fact that this is a direct analogy or comparison, all of those opinions towards songs are opinions. But, if you wanna call me out, Rihanna's 'Umbrella' stayed at the top of the charts and is now the official song of the summer, largely due to the fact that it didn't burn out due to the Chris Brown remix getting more airplay. No other song will have a longer chart reign in the remaining summer weeks, EXCEPT maybe Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls". And The Jay Z remix of "Rehab" got Amy Winehouse a top ten single, and a mainstain at the top of the Billboard charts, so I pose the question, were my opinions wrong? NOT REALLY, BUT I DON'T DWELL ON THEM TIL THROWN BACK IN MY FACE.I'm not pompous, and I respect EVERYONE else's opinion on these boards, as long as they can back up what they type.

to Phil Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 11:19 PM EST

I only said what i said because your comments come off as pompous. Like, whenever EW previews a song, you declare that it will be a huge git on the radio and we should get used to it, as if we can't decide for ourselves. (See Jay-Z's remix of "Rehab" and Chris Brown's remix of "Umbrella").

Amanda Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 10:53 PM EST

I wanted to see this movie ironically, but then I thought it might be a little too scary for me, so I decided against it. Loved reading this, though. Thanks!

colbea Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 10:34 PM EST

Great review. made me laugh. I promise not to see it, not even in a "ironic - ha ha" way.
Thanks!

Nix Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 10:32 PM EST

She acts? I thought she was a nobody with handlers.

Phil Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 10:24 PM EST

You know, I hate sounding like a Know-It-All cause thats just not me. I'm more like an unfiltered facet that just spits out information like water, but I do however, strongly believe to give credit where credit is due & I was the one that said it seemed like eons ago when another certain under-age starlet by the name of Drew Barrymore was the hollywood wildchild & since there have been many child-actor screw ups since then, everyone seems to forget that with making the proper life changing decisions, it IS possible to work past that & be successful in hollyowood & that if Lohan needed to make changes, that Miss Barrymore would be the closet idol to model her career path after. I'm not looking to be crowned as being praised for MY opinion, but I am the one who said it 1st & I don't think I'm being grande or cocky by sticking to an original thought that I produced. Of course I enjoy the fact that other's NOW share my opinion, but as I said, its just nice to appreciate where it came from!

Ed Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 09:48 PM EST

I am officially turning in my LL fan key. I seriously thought La Lohan had the pap wrapped around her finger in order to get publicity. But from the looks of it - she really is a train wreck. This movie only confirms what everyone has been saying.

Aramis, where are you on this one?

Thank you Phil! Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 08:46 PM EST

Thank you for your insight! How could we all have been so blind before? We must all follow each and every one of your posts to go on the right path to life!

nunya Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 07:11 PM EST

i don't know, but am i the only one who think that whether or not LL remains a cokehead/alcoholic or becomes a model citizen, she is still no more than mediocre as an actress. there are hundreds of other actresses her age and above who display more range in their work and are not nearly as affected. ex: julia stiles, claire danes, evan rachel wood, sanaa lathan, kerry washington, kate mara, natalie portman, keira knightley, catalina sandino moreno, america ferrara. Please, if LL is gonna keep wasting her rather undeserved opportunities, please give these actresses or many others choice roles!!!

Phil Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 06:32 PM EST

Wow...I caught a press screening of this LAST Thursday night & was surprised not many critics even showed up, then I realized it, they had to choose between seeing this garbage & the Simpsons movie! What brilliant strategic planning on part of the company behind Lindsay's latest flop! Its such a shame that they even opened this nightmare of a movie the same week, she was arrested AGAIN for her D.U.I. & after a much-needed-but-failed rehab stint. Since she canceled all her promo appearances, the company should have shelved the movie til next January & attempted to make some of its money then. And for everyone wondering why the usual EW critics didn't review this film, is cause they didn't screen it for the press ANYWHERE til the night before its opening! They knew it was THAT bad.
I love how everyone has adopted MY idea that Lohan should follow Barrymore's path. I started that mentality when asked what Lohan needs to do to redeem or continue her Hollywood career on another EW blog!!

Raven_Moon Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 05:48 PM EST

Yikes! This movie sounds dreadful. Poor Slezak! I feel bad that you saw it. I'm amazed you sat through it. I miss the Lindsey of "The Parent Trap" & "Mean Girls." *sigh*

Mel Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 05:36 PM EST

AJ-
As a School Counselor, I love children, and often find myself entertaining other people's children in public when their parents have properly prepared for them to be occupied during long flights, trips to the movies or other outings. While I often don't mind doing this, that doesn't mean that's my job when I'm not on the clock. Every person has the right to enjoy themselves out in public without being kicked and having to miss movie lines. Anyone who can't respect that maybe isn't prepared for the challenges of parenting, with all due respect.
Sounds like missing a few lines from THIS movie would be a plus though!

Razor Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 05:33 PM EST

That's pretty sad that in question 10, all of the choices beside the real answer are better hooks for a screenplay.

Alas.

BJohnson Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:56 PM EST

I think that's wierd she would do another duel role again. All I thought when I read it was twins, was crap "The Parent Trap" gone bad on acid. I'm sure she was on something when she agreed to do this. I agree with the person who said Drew Barrymore needs to have a sit down with her before she's found dead in some club.

CJ Collier Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:55 PM EST

So did LL read the script while she was high? But what does that say about Neal McDonough, Gregory Itzin, Garcelle Beauvais and Paula Marshall ... Where they catching a contact high?

BJohnson Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:54 PM EST

First thanks Slezak, I thought it sucked and used a movie spoiler website to read the synopsis of it yesterday, yours was sooo funny.
Ceballos, according to that website I mentioned, only Aubrey's dad (who did a Omen like switch dead baby for live one act) & the killer died.
And the movie where the cop, killer and victim was the same was just called "3" based off of the book written by Christian fiction author Ted Dekker.

Ronnie Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:43 PM EST

Went to a FREE Screening of this movie, and thank GOD it was FREE, lol. I actually think Lohan is a good actress, but WOW this movie was so aweful. If I was her, I would be ashamed to have my name on it. And the ENDING, omg, the ending, LOL. It was just laughable. This movie was such a joke.

Jim Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:34 PM EST

Couldn't you have posted this yesterday before I had to endure this trash? I thought it would be bad-funny, but it was just bad-bad. Any movie where the killer is a prosthetic-loving, glass-making, piano -teaching psycho is just plain awful. Wait--you mean this is the only movie that's ever happened in?

Worst. Movie. Ever. And I'm not just saying that. It really is THAT bad.

bb Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 04:03 PM EST

Who's the hot guy in the movie poster?
;) (woof!)

Chris Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 03:57 PM EST

Aj, I don't think people are "baby hating" adults. They hate the lazy parents that can't control their kids in public places.

Looks like you have expeirence.

Chris Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 03:46 PM EST

To AJ...

HUH?

Nose Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 03:43 PM EST

Slezak, you are awesome. I laughed a ton at the "Suave" comment.

AJ Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 03:36 PM EST

"feel enraged by that hyperactive toddler who keeps kicking the back of your seat"
Oh, but should I watch it when I feel enraged by the self-centered, baby-hating adult on the plane who hasn't seen "Children of Men" and who wouldn't dare yell at an adult bumping him thinks it's OK to yell at a 2 yr old? Real life means real people of all ages, not just some 25-49 yr old world sanitized for your stereotypes.

Bill Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 03:24 PM EST

Way to take a bullet for us, Michael.

Suz Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:56 PM EST

I'm sorry you had to suffer through the movie Slezak, but this column is funnier when the movie's bad. So thanks! You rock.

stephanie Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:54 PM EST

my friends and I saw "I know who killed me" last night (only showing at 11) and oh wow. within 15 minutes my cousin had figured out the plot. since we were 5 of oh, 10 people in the theatre, we shouted out literary techniques such as "SYMBOLISM!" and "FORESHADOWING!" to point out the craptacular "beauty" to our fellow movie patrons. god this was movie was bad-- I'm fairly certain lindsay lohan doesn't deserve to make movies anymore. jeez

Cranky Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:46 PM EST

This movie, with the whole 'unknown twin' premise, looks like a horrible, horrible spoof on her sweet and spunky perfomance in "The Parent Trap!"! This girl is a train wreck on roller skates on ice.

But how much do we LOVE the tradition of Slezak pe-e-e-eeking his face into movie posters when he goes to see these terrible flicks? Made my day.

Stephen Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:32 PM EST

Man, I had high hopes for this movie to be so bad that it's good. (I'll admit, I'm a sucker for "House Of Wax" remake).

coco Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:24 PM EST

slezak, save the date for Major Movie Star with Jessica Simpson. I'm pretty sure it will suck too!!
how do people become millionaires by making crappy movies???

Katie Kruger Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:23 PM EST

I concur. Slezak for the Must List!!!

BLM Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:19 PM EST

10, D sounds exactly like the plot to the French thriller, High Tension. Now that was a good movie!

Ceballos Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:18 PM EST

..."where the victim, killer, and cop on the case"...are the same person (is what I meant to finish saying when talking about The 3)

Rakeem Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:17 PM EST

I dunno...it sounds ever so horrible yet I still can't decide if it's "So bad it's good" (think Glitter and Basic Instinct 2) or just plain bad (Howard the Duck)!!! Fellow popwatchers help me, I think I'm going crazy because I still kinda wanna see it. I guess I'll wait till it comes on dvd (like 2 weeks from now) and my mom buys it. lol

donner Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:12 PM EST

Slezak, you're on top of your game, truly...love this premise, and thank you for taking the bullet for us...I had no intention of seeing this movie, but sure, I was curious how 'bad' it could be...you've given me all the info I need, and I'll never put this thing in my Netflix queue, I promise...

Lis Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 02:11 PM EST

The greatest title for a review of this movie I have ever seen.
"I Know I Want my Money Back!"
I could not stop laughing for fifteen minutes straight.

ronaldo Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:55 PM EST

Although I never saw it, I see some similarities to the Boxing Helena debacle a while back. At least Kim Basinger had the sense to pull out of that (albeit deal with subsequent legal issues) that LL couldn't quite figure out here. I am curious how Lonelygirl made an appearance (well, maybe not). Keep these posts going.

sdr Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:51 PM EST

"A jaunty possum distracts the killer from discovering Lohan's character"

i'm speechless... how on earth did this ever get made? slezak, you should work on an inside hollywood kind of book that details how a movie like this makes it to the big screen...

D Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:44 PM EST

Thanks for the warning...wouldn't have seen it anyway, but now I can avoid it on cable. Did anyone notice that choices A, B, and D in question number ten would have made a much more interesting movie?

ian Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:44 PM EST

I am sorry to say that my friends dragged me to see this movie. It was actually a very good movie if you watch it like its a comedy. Everyone in my theater (all 10 of us) laughed so hard at the cheesy dialogue, bad acting and completely far-fetched and "plot-hole" filled storyline. I almost started to cry with laughter when the doctor told her that she had to plug in her new prosthetic foot every night so that is wouldn't run out of battery. If you took out all of the stripping scenes (which i'm not saying you should---it was the best part of the movie) the movie would be thirty minutes long. But overall...... FANTASTIC movie!

Ceballos Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:37 PM EST

By the way, this movie sounds completely terrible, and my favorite part is how, for question 10, each of the answers you made up sound a lot bettter than the correct answer. I mean, how do ones appendages just fall off?! I'm sure there is some basis for this somewhere in the real world, but still...huh?!

My fave fake answer for 10 is D, it's reminiscent of the fake movie the fake Donald Kauffman was writing in "Adaptation" called "The 3", where the victim, the killer and the cop on the case.

thwarted Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:27 PM EST

Thank you SO much for saving me that 105 minutes. Ugh.

but here's my question: if she's saved by her secret twin, who gets killed?

Court Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:26 PM EST

Can we nominate Slezak for the Must List?

mike Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:16 PM EST

I couldn't find an official review for this movie. Do Owen & Lisa refuse to see such an obvious piese of crap and the job falls to you?
Lindsey needs a court appointed sane person to make movie and life decisions for a long while.

BLM Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:11 PM EST

Darn it, Slezak, I know this blog was supposed to deter me from watching this movie, but it has only succeeded in intriguing me even more! I'm very oddly fasinated by this movie, but I'll wait until it's on HBO or Cinemax to watch it (which will probably be in a month or so).

Nikki Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:07 PM EST

I smell a Razzie award for Miss Lohan. Closest she'll come to that Oscar she keeps pining for!

No Brand Woman Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 01:03 PM EST

Poor Slezak. Put your feet up and have someone make you a warm cup of tea. You deserve a break after having to suffer through something so awful.
I had no interest in this movie whatsoever, but now I must be sure to warn my fiance's mother against seeing it (she thought it looked interesting, but... well... she's older and uninformed when it comes to movies pop culture).

Laurie Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:58 PM EST

Thank you Slezak I needed that. Can we nominate crappy looking movies for you to go see and tell us all about? I now officially nominate Alvin & The Chipmunks. Jason Lee whyyyyyy?????

daisyj Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:54 PM EST

For a second there, I thought your face was part of the poster.

Charlie Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:51 PM EST

How much do they pay you to watch these movies? Michael, you deserve a raise (and the number for a good therapist)! My apologies!

GingerCat Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:51 PM EST

This movie sounds unbelievably horrible. But I love the "I Saw It, So You Don't Have To" feature, so please keep it up!

Ceballos Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:48 PM EST

I like how Slezak's kinda peeking out of the corner of the poster. Also, I'm 100% with Ep. Though I realize it may be more fun and easier to completely slam a movie. Slezak's reviews of these (awful) movies I won't venture to see myself are 11,000 times more entertaining than the sometimes phoned-in actual movie reviews in the magazine that are like one paragraph long.

Ep Sato Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 12:45 PM EST

Can we PLEASE make Slezak the head movie critic of ew? I love these send ups of crappy movies!

I almost feel sorry for Lindsay. Rehab. Drug problems. More rehab. Then a coke fueled car jacking and frantic 911 call from the victim. Salt in the wound is that her comeback dramatic role turns out to be more of a craptacular torture fest than Elisha Cuthbert's, which I heard was also pretty f'in bad. Could we please straighten this chica out, give her back red hair and maybe take her over to Drew Barrymore's house for some schooling on how to correct a life gone bad? Please? Lindsay showed so much potential in "Mean Girls", but she's been a trainwreck since then.

As always Sle, thanks for taking one in the gut for the rest of us.
