Only 10 days left till this year's Emmy nominations are announced — which means two things: My left kidney will soon be deposited on a shrine dedicated to Vanessa L. Williams' very necessary nod, and the good folks at Gold Derby are getting their leak on. Last week, while I was on vacation, the site reported the rumored list of 10 finalists still in the running in the Best Drama and Best Comedy Series categories, and on Friday, a pair of judges who'd attended screenings of various nominated episodes spilled the beans about which series are most likely to hear their names called when nominations are announced July 19. (Click here to read the full scoop.) According to that duo, Best Drama Series nominees are likely to include The Sopranos, House, Grey's Anatomy (pictured), 24, and Heroes, while the Best Comedy Series race could come down to Two and a Half Men, Entourage, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, and The Office. If Gold Derby's sources predicted correctly, that would mean snubs for the remaining five drama (Boston Legal, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, Lost, and Rome) and comedy finalists (Desperate Housewives, Extras, My Name Is Earl, Scrubs, and Weeds).

Considering how many Grey's Anatomy and 24 fans feel those respective series are coming off weak seasons, their inclusion among TV's five best drama series seems a little surprising. And if a sci-fi show is destined for Emmy recognition, shouldn't Lost (or Battlestar Galactica, which apparently didn't even crack the top 10) get Heroes' slot? On the flip side, if 30 Rock, The Office, and Ugly Betty score Best Comedy nominations (as predicted), I'll be hard-pressed to feel my usual brand of post-nominations outrage. Unless, of course, L. Yeah doesn't get her due. Then I'll be hellaciously upset.

What do you think of Gold Derby's list of predicted nominees? Should the Emmy judges have read the PopWatch Fantasy Emmy Nominees Gallery before going to work? Holla back!

Hbo and the wire made alot of money on those kids back last year but rather spent the wires left over money they saved under paying the actors on the wire so they had enough money to spend on the shows that didnt even play on t.v for 2007 blame it on being a black show bet u a million dollars next year they gonna submit the wire because they cant piggie back on no other show but the wire since the souponos is off tv

Jim Wed, Jul 18, 2007 at 01:34 AM EST

'The Wire' is the best programming ever to appear on television and it is overlooked again. Criminal.

Sam L Tue, Jul 17, 2007 at 08:40 AM EST

One nomination that the Popwatch guide left out, and which is an obvious choice to anyone who actually watches the show, is Kristen Bell for her superb performance on Veronica Mars. Now that the show is over, SHE should at least get recognized for her stellar work. Meanwhile, how ironic would it be if Lauren Graham got a nod for Gilmore Girls' last year when all the fans know it was the worst season? Typical.

Seon Sat, Jul 14, 2007 at 09:33 PM EST

Love Mike Slezak for always supporting Vanessa Williams through the thick and the thin. Maybe you can subscribe to my youtube channel www.youtube.com/seon2006 where Vanessa Williams is in abundance.

By the Way, The Gold Derby has reported Vanessa Williams is in the top 10. Here's to hoping.

Jess Tue, Jul 10, 2007 at 10:17 AM EST

SERIOUSLY, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WHEAT FIELD???

Delon Tue, Jul 10, 2007 at 09:56 AM EST

My List would go something like this:
COMEDY
- 30 Rock
- Ugly Betty
- Weeds
- My Name is Earl
- Scrubs
DRAMA
- Heroes
- House
- Deadwood
- Sopranos
- Dexter

jen Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:48 PM EST

Okay, here is my 2cents. Grey's Anatomy, it was AWFUL this season and it was my darling until Friday Night Lights came along.....Gosh I hope there is some love to this show and I hope more people start loving it too. Also, for Stacey, I felt the same thing after Friends went off the air until I found, How I Met Your Mother. Hysterical. Please give Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) the love he so desperately deserves!!!! And maybe Alison Hannigan too.

duy Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:20 PM EST

The best comedy last season was Weeds. Extras came close, but it was not as great as season one.

Jess B. Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 07:38 PM EST

While I'm a fan of Heroes, I agree that it shouldn't be nominated. It's basically the TV equivalent of a cheesy action movie -- it's entertaining, but it's not exactly well-made. There are too many plot holes, the dialog is cheesy, and a lot of the acting is sub-par. Lost really deserves the nomination. Despite the dull six-episode arc in the fall, the post-hiatus shows were so consistently good. Ben's flashback episode and the season finale were such good TV! If the voters pick Heroes over Lost, it's pretty obvious that they're playing favorites.

That said, I think the most deserving drama is Dexter. That show was just brilliant in every way possible!

And 30 Rock should win for best comedy. I actually enjoyed it more than The Office this season.

Maria Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:45 PM EST

Yes, The Wire. I used to think I was the only person who watched it given the lack of attention it gets. Its absolutely ridiculous that that show gets ignored. Hands down in my Top 10 of all time, never mind the past year. Ugh.

kcholt68 Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:32 PM EST

How could crap like "Boston Legal" get consideration over "Brothers & Sisters" ???

Mozz Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:23 PM EST

oh, come on EW, you changed the picture of the Grey's cast on the field, now all the jokes are going to go over people's heads. Still, you know the Emmy's are the Emmy's, no one really takes them seriously and most of the people getting them, would trade them for an Oscar in a heart beat. so don't stress out, TV is just to vast and varied for the actual nominees to really reflect the best of the business. It's just an excuse to throw a party and have a best and worst dressed list on the magazines. and then you can go back to watching the actual shows that are good, and that never get nominated.

Emily Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:23 PM EST

While Lost pulled me back in with the last episode (at least enough to tune into the first episode next season) I would much rather see Heroes get a nomination. But frankly, even though it had some of it's worst episodes ever this past season, Battlestar Galactica still blows both those shows out of the water when it comes to quality story-telling, as well as acting, directing, and (most of the time) writting.

However, the fact that The Wire is consistantly ignored drives me insane. It's one of the best shows on television and has been since it first aired. Next to Deadwood it's the best show HBO has ever done.

House, Grey's Anatomy and 24 all had weak seasons. Just because a show used to be good doesn't mean it should keep getting nominated. I'd much rather see other shows on that list like Rome or Dexter.

Of course, if anything other than The Sopranos, I'd be shocked. Even if it doesn't deserve it this year.

Dave Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:17 PM EST

The Drama/Comedy nods SHOULD go to: Lost, Friday Night Lights, The Sopranos, Rome, and Battlestar Galactica; and The Office, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Weeds, and Entourage or Scrubs. However, I won't be surprised at all when several of those deserving shows are passed up for the usual fare. Slezak, I'm totally rooting for L. Yeah as well, but it would ALMOST (repeat, ALMOST) be worth it if she were snubbed, just to see your hysterically hellacious response.

daisyj Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 06:12 PM EST

Hey, what's with changing the picture here? Do you guys hate puns that much?

t3hdow Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 05:37 PM EST

Kylie, what's your problem? Not liking a show is one thing but slandering its fanbase with juvenile comments is a major no-no. Yes, the first half of season 3 was slow but it got much better after the hiatus and had many stellar episodes that was season 1 quality. Nothing happened at all? What are you talking about? Did you forget about that Others vs. Losties war or the fact some long lingering questions had answers? Although not all mysteries were concluded (while new ones were added), there were plenty of answers this season regarding the Others and some of the castaways' backstories (especially with Locke, Desmond and Sawyer). Even with the weaker episodes, the show still has consistently strong acting and writing. Yes, you do need plenty of patience and dedication for Lost, but when it nails a good note, there's no better show on TV. If it wasn't for shows like Lost, I'd rather view a dull Lost installment than a procedural crime drama or reality TV show anyday of the week.

mike Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 05:35 PM EST

kyle - as insightful as your comment that "lost fans are just losers" was, you clearly did not watch this season. the final 2/3rds of lost's 3rd season were full of plot development. not to mention that even in the first few epsodes when "nothing happened" it was still a more engrossing, well written, and well acted show than this season of 24 or Heroes.

also the emmy's should recognize The Wire, Battlestar Galactica, and Friday Night Lights for the awesome shows that they are.

mike Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 05:28 PM EST

Oh, Kylie. Poor, sad, pathetic little Kylie. You can call me a loser if you want, but except for a dark beginning and one episode in the middle, I loved Lost all year. I found every episode in the latter half of the season (not just the finale) to be gripping.

Kylie Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 04:47 PM EST

Lost simply doesn't deserve to be nominated this year. The third season SUCKED and people were hating on it because not a fuc**** thing happened. Then they saw the last ep and just bc it ended with a WTF moment, some ppl think Lost is the best show this year.Lost fans are just losers!!!!

t3hdow Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 04:22 PM EST

I can't speak for Grey's, Sopranos or the comedies, but those are some weak choices. Last year, I would definitely agree with House or 24 being on the list. House season 2 and 24 season 5 was some of the best TV I watched in years. Alas, House this year was very erratic and 24 just sucked after the brilliant four-episode premier. I guess if the whole watch-one-episode-and-judge-the-entire-season-with-it rule applied and they viewed the jaw dropping fourth episode, then 24 could win with flying colors. Too bad the rest of it stunk. Also, Lost over Heroes? Come on. While Lost started off slow this season, it produced some of its greatest episodes in the latter half and had a helluva finale. Heroes in contrast kept me involved and built up with the plot most weeks - even if the writing was a little weak sometimes - but absolutely blew it with key episodes (that finale was awful and rushed). Even Battlestar Galactica is preferable over Heroes.

RandomGuy Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:50 PM EST

I dont know where to start, this is just absolutely ridiculous. The Wire, the best show I have ever seen, doesnt crack the top 10. Then 24, Heroes, and Grey's fcking Anatomy over Lost? Did they even watch the seasons of those shows this year? Boycott the these ridiculous awards that mean absolutely nothing in my eyes.

Bob Saget Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:47 PM EST

Do the Emmys literally hate The Wire? How can a show that is constantly at the top of critics best of lists always be ignored? Awards shows are so dumb.

Joe Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:46 PM EST

Um, yeah. 24 and Grey's? I just threw up a little bit. They were two of the worst, not the best. Ew. The fact that Friday Night Lights and Lost are not there are pretty damn digusting. Two of the best shows on TV this year. And really the Emmys act like they wanna change but they keep nominated the same sh*t over and over and over again. It's no wonder people don't care anymore. Pathetic.

berf Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:45 PM EST

God, if this is true, then the Emmys are as rediculous as everyone believes them to be. HEROES over LOST?? Are they out of their minds? 24?

Did they even watch TV this year?

berf Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:45 PM EST

Tessa Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:42 PM EST

Grey's was terrible this season--I even took it off my Season pass. DOES NOT deserve a nod-at all. I'm hoping that some day Donald Faison gets the recognition he deserves for his work on Scrubs. 30 Rock was hilarious. But hands down best show on TV is Friday Night Lights--amazing acting, writing, direction, lighting, and I'm sure craft services. Seriously? SERIOUSLY SO MUCH BETTER THAN GREY'S! And the second half of LOST was engrossing and captivating (and I'm a diehard Heroes fan). 2.5 men? for real? who does charlie sheen have pictures of? that show is beyond ridiculous...and I'm someone who really enjoys the USA Shows (Monk, Psych, Burn Notice) but that is just blah. Plus, that kid is too old now he's almost beyond the half mark. And yeah, King Of Queens should get some recognition--that show has some funny moments.

Sadie Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:33 PM EST

To dj -- Extras is on HBO. Ricky Gervais, co-creator of The Office and star in the British version, plays an actor trying to break through by playing extras in a number of movies and TV shows. Big stars like Daniel Radcliff, Orlando Bloom, Patrick Stewart and Kate Winslet have been guests. Hilarity ensues! Season 2 comes out on DVD tomorrow and I cannot wait!

kissa Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:28 PM EST

"that would mean snubs for the remaining five drama... and comedy finalists..."

Why does not getting nominated automatically get labeled as being "snubbed?" I think the term "snubbed" loses it's meaning if used too loosely. I would describe a show being snubbed if it is obviously of better quality than a show that did receive a nod - for example "24" over "FNL" (I am a big 24 fan and loyally watched every episode this season, but I am able to admit that it was a poorly thought-out season. It does not deserve a nom.) But for every show that doesn't make the cut to be labeled a snub?? Some shows will get nominated and some will not, obviously someone somewhere did not think they stacked up, and that's just how it works. But don't automatically cry snub! That way, come July 19, if a show really does get "snubbed" it will actual mean something when people begin to cry snub.

dj Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:25 PM EST

Ok, color me stupid - what is "Extras"? I've heard of or seen all of the other shows listed, but have no idea what this one is. What network is it on?

Matthew Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:22 PM EST

Say what you want, but I think "The King of Queens" deserves a f`in nod for at least ONE major comedy award. Some love for Leah Remini, Kevin James, or Jerry Stiller? Probably not, but they deserve it.
And the supporting female cast [Ana Ortiz, Becki Newton, Vanessa L. Williams] of Ugly Betty need to be showed some appreciation because they mothereffing deserve it.
AND MASI OKA TOO!!!

Bruno Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:21 PM EST

Do these people even watch television?

XSE Drake Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

The very notion that Heroes might get a nom over Lost has me flummoxed! I am a fan of both shows, and a long-time comic book fan to boot, but as much as I adore Heroes, it can't hold a candle to Lost which is superior in every way: writing, acting, cinematography, direction, casting, music... the list goes on. Heroes is a flavor of the month show, and like Twin peaks before it will probably P-eter out in its second season. Lost is classic television and will always be the superior product.

furry_tom Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

RE: i'm also trying to figure out what's going on with katherine heigl's hands in this picture
I think she's trying to do her best tyrannosaurus impersonation. Either that or she stuck her hands in poo (notice how everyone else is trying to keep their distance?).

Chris Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 02:55 PM EST

"24" and "Grey's" both had appallingly bad seasons; nominating them would be typical Emmy laziness/idiocy. "Lost" and "FNL" deserve those berths, absolutely.

At least the comedy nods look halfway decent.

Paul Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 02:26 PM EST

Scrubs definitely deserves a nom. While it wasn't the best season, it was definitely an improvement over the past two seasons, and "My Musical", the episode they submitted, was the single best episode on television last season. Give this show its due.

cbc Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 02:07 PM EST

Heroes blows. Friday Night Lights is some of the best TV ever therefore it makes sense that the emmys would ignore it. Ever year we are dissapointed yet we keep coming back assuming things will change. They wont.

Daniel Fidler Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 02:04 PM EST

WHAT?! If Heroes is nominated and LOST isn't... I mean... are they high or something?!?! LOST's episode was "Through the Looking Glass", what many TV watchers believe to be one of the greatest season finales ever! Grrrrrr!!!

trigrrrcut Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 02:02 PM EST

Alot of people are feeling like Scrubs is going to be snubbed. Let me point out that this season was pretty much terrible and that the show is really just tredding water.

mawhi Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:58 PM EST

uh yeah. if Lost should take anybody's slot, it's House's or Grey's. Both wonderful shows that I love, but got maaaajorly annoying this season. 24 I can't speak for, and Soprano's is a "goodbye" nom for sure.

BillNam Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:58 PM EST

Grey's Anatomy's getting into the top five, and they deserve it. 24 will be there too. They're not giving up on that show for a good while. And as long as The Office and Ugly Betty are in the final five, I'll try to turn my head when the craptastic garbage that is Two and a Half Men is nominated alongside them.

Sadie Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:57 PM EST

I would replace 2.5 Men with Extras. When watching Extras, I often laughed so hard I cried and had to rewind (DVR) sections of the episodes. The appeal of 2.5 Men is lost to me an my girlfriends, while many of our guy friends actually like it (and we're all under 35). The Office and Extras are my top comedies, followed closely by Ugly Betty.

Cindylover1969 Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:45 PM EST

"And if a sci-fi show is destined for Emmy recognition, shouldn't Lost (or Battlestar Galactica, which apparently didn't even crack the top 10) get Heroes' slot?"

Er, no.

aramis Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:43 PM EST

Slezak - you think after six (and after this year, SEVEN) years [of SCREAMING, RAPING, PILLAGING, and BURNING THE HOMES] of asking Academy members to give our favorite Gilmore Girl, Lauren Graham, an Emmy, they are going to listen to you or me and get the GLAMBULOUS Van L. a much deserved nod? No, really, I'm genuinely curious...

Stacey Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:33 PM EST

I'd take Heroes over Grey's anyday. Grey's got so bad so fast it's ridiculous. The characters are self involved and obnoxious. Can you imagine knowing people like this in real life. The temptation to smack them upside the head would be hard to resisit. At least the characters on Heroes are likeable and interesting. You can forgive the bad acting or missing bits of the storyline because the writers actually seem to be trying to do something fun and innovative. Ultimately though, Battlestar really deserves to win. As for comedy--30 Rock was great this year. Amazing actually. I would be fine if they won although my first love is for The Office. Best show on TV bar none.

G Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:28 PM EST

daisyj - haha, i appreciate your comment! :-)
i'm also trying to figure out what's going on with katherine heigl's hands in this picture

Martha Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:19 PM EST

The thing is, kids, would it BE the Emmys without some horrific nominations (and wins)? If some year the Emmy folks picked the five most brilliant comedies and dramas for statue contention, I think I'd keel over from the shock.

BassSinger Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:15 PM EST

Heroes, even though I watched it regular, isn't that good a show. It has elements I am attracted to, but it regularly built up and fizzled. Cheerleader fight, season finale ending fight. Not good and Lost was good this year. Battlestar was also good this year. 24, in a slump, doesn't deserve a nod at all.

Tim Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 01:08 PM EST

A friend recently got me hooked on the Office. While the Office has its moments, if I want a gut-busting laugh, it's 2.5 Men, Old Christine or How I Met Your Mother.

Curtis Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:56 PM EST

a nomination for 2.5 Men and not Scrubs?? Are any emmy voters under the age of 60?? Seriously!

Kevo Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:45 PM EST

No matter what the Emmy board does with changing the judging each year, the Emmys are always going to be flawed for one reason: It's impossible to judge an entire season based on one episode. (While the best series nominees submit six episodes to decide the win, they only submit one to get nominated). In essence, a show or actor need only one standout episode to win the award - even if another show had a consistant run the entire season. Another problem is that voters get stuck in a rut and vote for the same show or person again and again (Doris Roberts, Helen Hunt, Candace Bergin, John Laroquette, Tyne Daly) leaving deserving nominees out in the cold (Angela Lansbury lost six times to the two leading ladies of Cagney and Lacey, Helen Hunt denied Carista Flockheart and Ellen DeGenneras an award, George Wendt lost four times to John Laroquette, and Cynthia Nixon was the only Sex and the City co-star to win over Doris Roberts).

trigrrrcut Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:36 PM EST

I really hope they can swing a best comedy actor nomination for Ricky Gervais. Besides the fact that he's revolutionized comedy on TV more than anyone since Jerry Seinfeld (or at least Trey Parker and Matt Stone) his performance in Extras might have been more heartbreakingly brilliant than his work in the original Office.

eric murphy Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:32 PM EST

OT: Why is the cast of Grey's Anatomy stuck in a cornfield in this picture?

rls Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:21 PM EST

In my mind no show is more worthy than the Wire for drama, but it's been said that it's a show that doesn't play well as one single episode. In other words, you need to see a whole season to appreaciate its brilliance. I understand that nominations are made based on just a single episode not an entire season.

Jill Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:10 PM EST

As long as "The Office" and any of it's actors get nominated I'm satisfied. Easily the funniest show on regular TV with the funniest characters. I actually don't mind 2 1/2 men but it is in no way the same league as The Office.

daisyj Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:02 PM EST

Heath & FLGrl- Maybe they just want it to be clear that these people are out standing in their field?

(I'm sorry. No really, I am. I just can't help it.)

Pippin Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 12:01 PM EST

I agree, 24 was WRETCHED this year! Whatever happened to Martha and Charles anyway??? Did he die? Did she go to prison for a Paris-length stay? What was up with that stooopid plotline with Audrey & the Chinese? Ugh, it was horrible. And Lost I refuse to support since they killed off Charlie. Dominic Monaghan was the reason I started watching that show in the first place. Should've killed off Matthew Fox instead. He's been annoying the hell out of me since Party of Five!

John Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:57 AM EST

I agree with an earlier comment - while I love Heroes, it's kinda a weak show in terms of writing and development. It's good eye-candy and a good time, but let's not confuse it with great television. I'm also a Lost devotee and while the audience has shrunk a bit, the show hasn't suffered at all and is probably at its best this past season - just because people can't be bothered to follow a complicated storyline does not mean the show has lost anything. Yeah, and Friday Night Lights has to be up there too - again, a smart, well-written show that may go over some people's heads because it is a bit more complicated.

Ames Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:53 AM EST

Can't we just not care about the Emmy's? How about it if EW puts this much attention to the Peabody awards? Then we'll actually see quality work being rewarded.

Pritzi Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:49 AM EST

Where is The Wire? They should at least get a "writing" nod.

FLGrl Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:46 AM EST

Thanks, Heath. I've also been perplexed by the "doctors in a wheatfield" concept.

Ed Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:45 AM EST

I think Greys lost the Emmy nod with that 3 week arch during the sweeps when Merideth almost died. YAWN! That who story line with Alex and the mystery girl - went no where! Then, to top it off, they gave us that two hour preview of Private Practice - two yawns!

Ugly Betty + Vanessa Williams = Emmy

GT Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:39 AM EST

I actually watched the entire season of Grey's Anatomy and even I have a hard time believing that it was one of the 5 best shows on TV last year. Do the emmy voters only have 3 channels? Count me in as someone who would like to see The Wire get some attention, I have only watched the seasons on DVD but even the worst episode of that show is far and above the best episode of Grey's Anatomy.

mark in nyc Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:26 AM EST

Why is that Battlestar (and most sci-fi shows) get ignored? good work is good work people! Seriously, it might be hard to act a scene in which your lover leaves you (i.e. Grey's Anatomy) but would nt that scene be harder if the Cylons were attacking at the same moment?

also, 30 Rock is Hilarious. so glad it got nominated...2 and half men is just another laugh track at stuff that is not funny show.

sdr Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:25 AM EST

sigh... how could i have let myself get excited (again) that this might finally be the year the wire gets recognized. i feel like charlie brown, and lucy just keeps pulling that football out from under me year after year!

Elaine Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

24?? No way in hell. Put Friday Night Lights there instead.
2.5 Men also needs to go. Give it to My Name is Earl instead. Scrubs wasn't that good this season.

As far as dramas go, The Sopranos is damned near a shoo-in to win since it was the last season and it has always been an Emmy darling.

Mozz Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

If 2 and a half Men gets called out on nomination day, I will upchuck all over the TV.

Heath Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:18 AM EST

Not to get off subject, but I think that photo of the cast of Grey's Anatomy is bizarre. I don't watch the show, but maybe having doctors and interns hanging out in a field makes complete sense to regular viewers.

Eli Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:17 AM EST

Two and a half Men? Seriously?
24 , horrible season...
Grey, sorta week sencond half of the season. + they wrote out Kate Walsh.

But I do think LOST and UGLY BETTY were particularly strong this year. So I'm sure the Emmy people will find a way to SNUB THOSE TWO. Let's just face it, they're not really there to honor excellence. It seems that no matter how many tweaks they make to the Emmy's, it's still about honoring the completely mediocre.

Joe Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:16 AM EST

Heroes over Lost? I think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

KingLouieXVIII Mon, Jul 9, 2007 at 11:13 AM EST

For every single nomination the Emmy's may get right, there will be at least 10 that are completely undeserved. I've grown used to seeing my favorite shows get ignored year after year (BUFFY, VERONICA MARS, GILMORE GIRLS, ANGEL, SCRUBS, BATTLESTAR--the list goes on and on). While I'm happy to hear that some of my new favorites may get some love (30 ROCK, UGLY BETTY), I'm not holding my breath. I would love for Lauren Graham to get some Emmy love at last to cap the brilliant work she performed for 7 years on GG. Ditto for Kristen Bell on VM. But I probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than those two ever getting Emmy nods.

I can't understand why Heroes would be on that list. Yes, it's a fresh new show (and yes, I am a fan) but I'll be the first to admit that the writing was often weak and the acting left something to be desired. If the Emmy's are supposed to be an indication of quality, Heroes is not the way to go. Lost on the other hand had its best season. The writing was crisp, the stories were deep and interesting, and the acting was phenomenal. Also, I hate that Battlestar Galactica is once again being ignored. I just don't get why that is. And I agree with step...Grey's Anatomy over Friday Night Lights? Hubba wha? Grey's never recovered from that awful ferry boat three-parter making this its most annoying season. Sandra Oh and Ellen Pompeo deserve nods but that's about it.

Oh yeah, and if Vanessa Williams’ name isn’t on the list, I’m not watching. Okay, I’ll probably watch but I’ll be really peeved about it.

30 Rock doesn't deserve to be nominated. Critics love this show but there's a reason it has low ratings--it's isn't that funny. One of the most overrated shows on TV right now.

Another year with no nomination for The Wire??? Emmy voters, I don't understand you one bit.

Slezak, thanks for the kidney visual aid. Welcome back!

I think Scrubs should get a nomination, but have no idea what it should be substituted for.

If I have to live in a world where Grey's Anatomy is considered a better show than Friday Night Lights? I might have to do something drastic. Because it's not comprehensible. Grey's is probably the worst show on television today, and it keeps getting showered with awards. FNL is the best show on television today, and it's completely ignored. Life is just not fair.

Kind of a shame, since this season of Lost was by FAR the best. Ever since that first season, it's not getting the recognition it deserves. But love seeing the love for Ugly Betty, and Vanessa Williams' name had BEST be announced! Once as a nominee, and once as a winner.

If Heroes makes it to the final ballot, instead of LOST. I think it's because people think LOST is a lost cause LOL. It seems like yesterday's show, while Heroes is more fresh. And everyone will admit that LOST struggled at points last season. And fans were abandoning it. So I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't make it. Grey's Anatomy is still fresh. It had a awkward year. But still had some refreshing stories and angst. So I can see while it could be there. Comedy I don't care about. Ever since we lost FRIENDS, I haven't been loving the comedy shows we've gotten. Maybe it will change eventually! In terms of drama, Heroes has a chance because it was the "buzzed about" show of last season. Whether it will win, I doubt it. But you never know.
