Today's Funnies: Now, this is Bad Acting

Hillary and Bill make like Carmela and Tony (and, yes, that was Johnny Sack) in a short clip announcing the winner of Hillary's campaign-song contest. Bill, we think, shows a natural ability in front of the camera. Hillary? Well, she might want to study the work of one talented gopher/prairie dog/marmot.

Oh, and the winning song, if you're interested, is Celine Dion's "You and I"

Howard Sun, Jun 24, 2007 at 10:28 PM EST

OK Martha, fair enough. We do have some time for frivolity. But let me ask you one question: if this was a Republican making this big a deal about a song, would you feel the same way?

Clem Fri, Jun 22, 2007 at 10:32 AM EST

I liked it; pretty clever. I don't like the song she chose though. Celine Dion? What demographic is she going for with that? Obama '08!

Ep Sato Fri, Jun 22, 2007 at 10:09 AM EST

I thought the video was a bit bunk, but do think it's kind of cool to know that the Clintons also like to watch the Sopranos. Somehow I get the impression that Bill can relate to Tony (you know, a shared passion for junk food and for women who aren't his wife).

And while the video kind of stinks, it's still a good way to get some publicity for the campaign. I only wish Obama had done something like this sooner, because that "ive got a crush on Obama" video makes this seem pretty cool by comparison.

Pam Fri, Jun 22, 2007 at 08:44 AM EST

Blech. Can't stand either one of 'em.

V.M.L. Fri, Jun 22, 2007 at 12:04 AM EST

hahahahaha

whol Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 08:27 PM EST

ha! that's actually funny. AND IT HAS JOHNNY SACK!

BrandonK Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 05:55 PM EST

Mm...It's true what people say...Bill and Hillary should limit their time together. She definitely comes off as a bit wooden, but he's not stiff at all (ha ha). I'd still vote for her, though.

Rahul Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 04:16 PM EST

This sucked. She should've saved her money to buy people's votes.

Jesse Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 02:30 PM EST

Haha, I actually really liked that clip. Kind of cute! Go Bill and Hillary! :)

Jen Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 02:23 PM EST

I think it was kind of clever, though I'm not a huge Clinton fan.

The campaign song sucks, though.

The marmot-thingy yesterday was better. I watched it numerous times and laughed every time.

I was amazed and "stupefied" to see such way over the top prominent American (husband and wife,no less) polticians doing a Sopranos "gig"...and,with Johnny Sac there too..WOW!..Wish some of our Canadian politicians had such...pizazz(?)

FLIPPER Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 01:00 PM EST

I hate when politicians try to be funny. It just comes off as phoney.

Anjeliki Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 12:39 PM EST

So not funny.

And isn't Celine Canadian? Nothing against our neighbors to the north, but if you were running for US President, and choosing a "campaign song" (whatever that is), wouldn't you choose a song by an American artist?

Stef Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 11:54 AM EST

Bill is really funny in that! Hillary, not so much. More... painful than anything.

FLGrl Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 11:47 AM EST

That's awesome. I'm a die-hard Righty, but if I voted for any of those Dem clowns, it'd be her.

Martha Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 11:10 AM EST

Howard, given that we've got 17 more months to hear Hillary and the other candidates blather about "the important issues," I'm perfectly happy to see her do frivolous things like pick a campaign song. The fact that candidates are already spending ridiculous cash now on campaigning is...ridiculous. Have to agree with Kate, though, that her song choice is painful. Shoulda listened to Bill, Hil!

Dio_K Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 11:10 AM EST

No, Kate, you're not the only one picking out the next president by their song choices;) As pointed out, it's great she's spending time on the really important issues. It's not like there's war or the economy needs help.

Dan Daoust Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 10:57 AM EST

Hold the frickin' phone. Is that a new thing here now, to enter a code before posting a message, as if I'm buying tickets to the Super Bowl? Nuh-uh, that sheis don't fly.

Dan Daoust Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 10:55 AM EST

The "writers" shouldn't get a pass for this either.

Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 10:22 AM EST

..and why??

Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 10:21 AM EST

i don't get it... where does this air??

Kate Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 10:18 AM EST

Am I the only one seriously reconsidering her purely based on her choice of song? :P

Ceballos Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 09:38 AM EST

Probably not a good sign that Johnny Sack completely blew her out of the water...without a word of dialogue.

Howard Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 07:43 AM EST

Thank goodness she's focusing on the important issues, like what her SONG is going to be.

EM, she's got to have some acting ability; she's acting like she likes Bubba.

EM Thu, Jun 21, 2007 at 07:27 AM EST

Agreed! Hilary is wooden at best. Marmot School of the Dramatic Arts, please send her an application!
