What's the most annoying song ever?

Apr 25, 2007, 08:00 AM | by Joshua Rich

Categories: Music

Fergie_l It's a small world, after all, PopWatchers, and on this little blue marble there are things called songs, and a lot of these songs are annoying as all hell, and WNBC.com just ranked the 22 most annoying among them. (Hat tip to our NSFW pals at Stereogum for the link.) The, er, winner? Yep, the catchy theme park ditty "It's a Small World (After All)," by the great Mary Poppins team of Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman. Whatever. Annoying, sure, but, whoa, it's no "My Humps," by the great obnoxious team of Fergie (pictured) and her fellow Black-Eyed Peas. And, jeez, "My Humps" isn't even on the list. Filling out the rankings instead are a lot of unimaginative picks from the likes of Barry Manilow, Billy Ray Cyrus, the Spice Girls, and Barney the purple frickin' dinosaur.

Good God, I know we can do better. So what would your top picks for the most annoying song of all time be? And let's get creative, people. Forget about Hanson and the Baha Men. Too easy. I'm thinking more along the lines of Michael Jackson's "Ben" or Madonna's "Erotica." Or, I dunno, Ravel's Bolero. Hell, even some of the greatest acts of all time have had some truly annoying clunkers. I was just listening to the Beatles the other day and realized that "Your Mother Should Know" is just, like, three lines repeated over and over again. McCartney, you slacker!

Jon Wed, Feb 18, 2009 at 12:01 PM EST

I think everyone in this blog is on the right track when it comes to those annoying songs. But and of those Nickelback and bands like them their songs shouldn't be played anymore. And I hate Soljaboy what a pathetic phoney and same with TI with the gay song Whatever you like. I hate all pop songs and all R&B. And I don't like tupacs music and BIGGIE Smalls music like seriuosly what are they doin. And don't forget Who lets the dogs out it's more like who let the idiots out I hope I dont blow my head off with a 12 gauge the next time I here that song. And Sean Kingston should listen to his songs and eat his own crap because his songs suck major C12k. Well that is for now

JustMe Fri, Oct 17, 2008 at 10:02 AM EST

"In the Arms of an Angel" by Sara McLachlan. That song sucks donkey dicks!!!

Beka Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:48 PM EST

I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry! ACK!

The Russian Lunch Lady Fri, Nov 16, 2007 at 07:00 PM EST

"Nobody's Perfect" by Hannah Montana. It's worse than the Macarena.

Mark Wed, May 23, 2007 at 10:37 PM EST

Can anybody help me name the song from the current JEEP commercial on TV? "This is the time...hold on...let go..."
Thanks for your help.

Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:47 AM EST

Hey wow: it doesn't matter who he's singing to, he's still blind! Oh, and by the way, it was a joke, so lighten up.

Beavis and Butthead Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 09:29 PM EST

By the way, kts: No, I have never seen them perform together and I never do want to see them perform together. It would be an absolute freak-show. I can't stand Either one of their voices. But don't get me wrong I don't dislike either one of them personally, It's just I don't like their voices. Fantasia and Macy Gray seem to be sweet girls, but I just don't like their singing.

Beavis and Butthead Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 09:19 PM EST

Val: Thanks for correcting me. I meant to put Tim McGraw but instead I put Garth Brooks. I don't know why I did that. The one time I didn't read over my comment I made one of the stupidest mistakes. Sorry about that. I hate the song "Stars Go Blue" by: Tim McGraw. I also have to agree with you Val, a lot of the songs by Faith Hill have been getting on my nerves lately as well.

Elaine Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 06:27 PM EST

Jenjen, it is so sad and yet so true. If you are like me, you probably got it to NOT have to listen to the same crap that exists on a Clear Channel station. It is usually Hinder or Nickelback. If I hear that "Lips of an Angel' song one more time, I might disconnect my radio just to make me feel better.

kts Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 04:15 PM EST

Beavis: Have to agree with the Fantasia/Macy Gray thing. I'm pretty sure they share the same voice. Have you ever seen them perform together???

jenjen Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 01:12 PM EST

Elaine, don't ya just love turning on the XM and "Lips of an Angel" is on four channels at once????

wow Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 12:07 PM EST

Whoever put "Isnt she lovely" Stevie Wonder was NOT talking about looks he was speaking of the fact that his daughter was born. IF you listen to the song (certain versions) you can hear a baby crying in the background and him talking about giving her a bath. IM not saying it cant be annoying to you, you have your own opinion but just stating the fact that he was referring to his child not some random chic.

Darby Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 11:48 AM EST

WORST song by a Rock-n-Roll Genius EVER: Wonderful Tonight
Eric Clapton, What were you THINKING???????

Elaine Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 11:40 AM EST

I think that it might be, but all of the top 40 stations around played it over and over and over. As a direct result, I hate it with the passion of a thousand firey suns.

t3hdow Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 11:22 AM EST

Zee, as much as I defended rap on this topic, I couldn't agree more with that song. Overplaying L'il Jon's Get Low on the radio was the least of my worries. Once it got popular at high school, I had to deal with random classmates quoting it for three months. I HATED that damn song for the longest time.

me Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 11:17 AM EST

Lori:
"Forever Your Girl" was Paula Abdul
"Baby Come Back" was Vanessa Anne Hudgens (from High School Musical) if thats the song your speaking of anyway. There may be more songs out there by that title.

me Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 11:09 AM EST

To Elaine:

The "I Can Only Imagine" song you are referring to, is it a inspirational song? IF so the only group I know who sings that song is called "Mercy Me". If not then Im not sure..

Elaine Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 10:45 AM EST

I will defend "Erotica" by Madge. I will not however, defend her American Life album. I have entire artists catalogues that go down as annoying: Michael Bolton, Nickleback, Hinder (I am sick of them already), Creed/Scott Stapp, Either Simpson sister, James Blunt, Savage Garden, Boys II Men, and Rob Thomas. As far as songs go, "Afternoon Delight" takes the cake. "I Don't Wanna Wait" - Paula Cole/Dawson's Creek, Christmas music piped into retail stores (thanks 5 years of retail for giving me a complex about this), Enrique -"Hero", Ricky Martin "She Bangs", Celine and the damned Titanic song, Aerosmith - "I don't wanna miss a thing" - Bad song for an equally stupid movie, "I Can Only Imagine - I don't know who sings it, but it incites Rage within me, and Butterfly Kisses - what an overblow craptastic craptasterpiece.

To the poster who mentioned "Rico Suave", I have XM and the very first song that I heard on the 90's channel was that one. I started laughing so hard. Bad Song.

Scott Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 09:02 AM EST

Shocked no one mentioned these yet...

2 Legit To Quit

Both by "Hammer" pre-bankruptcy, of course.

Sunny Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 08:38 AM EST

Anything by Lionel Richie - Past Present or god forbid future......

Spoosh Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 03:12 AM EST

"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. Coincidentally, I heard it again just today. I believe my out-loud reaction, despite being in a crowded gym, was "Oh HELL no!" The song is so annoying that it causes me outburts, and no other song has ever done that.

Zee Thu, Apr 26, 2007 at 02:32 AM EST

I cannot stand Get Low by Lil Jon. I HATE that song, and I feel like ripping my ears off when I hear it. Also, that song by 4 Non Blondes. Oh. My. Goodness.

I quickly read over the comments and didn't see the one song that I HATE- Blue by Eiffel 65. That song was huge when I was in middle school and I never understood why. Pure crap.

Val Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 10:16 PM EST

Beavis--The stars go blue is by Tim Mcgraw. Speaking of him, everything by faith hill has been getting on my nerves lately

Sean Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 10:04 PM EST

I'll go with that list of Phil Collins songs. I heard "Abacab" by Genesis recently and it's a head-scratcher that that song was ever a hit.

Diana Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 09:53 PM EST

tbm, thanks for the clarification, that is the worst song that comes to my mind, and no I don't think he is an artist.
RE: Rappin Duke

jenjen Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 09:47 PM EST

THE ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL SOUNDTRACK!!!!

To Stephanie Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 08:49 PM EST

Actually, Stephanie, what Alicia W. was referring to is the rap song, "Chain Hang Low" by Jibbs, which samples the song you mentioned.

Nissa

Beavis and Butthead Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 08:37 PM EST

People are probably going to hate me on what songs I think are annoying. But oh well, here we go.
1.Anything by Fantasia.(Sorry the girl can't sing.)
2.The best is yet to come. by:Tony Bennet. (Ugh that song just gets stuck in my head.)
3.Anything by:Macy Grey.(Sp?)
4.My humps. By:BEP.
5.Stars go blue. By:Garth Brooks.
I can't think of anything else right now. If I do I'll come back later.

KateDFW Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 07:49 PM EST

Just in general I hate everything by Mariah & Celine. Enough said!

Liz Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 07:42 PM EST

ANYTHING by the Pussycat Dolls!

Bennie Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 07:21 PM EST

How come anybody hasn't mentioned "Heaven" by Los lonely boys. Every time it comes on the radio it makes me want to smash my car in the nearest pole. Also add "It's not over" by Chris Daugtry, so overplayed by now. And anything by Uncle Kraker, Creed, Clay Aiken, Paris Hilton and most of electronica.

Stephanie Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:27 PM EST

t3hdow Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:14 PM EST

In that case babs, that's different. Before that post, you gave the impression you hated all rap music with unilateral comments. I can understand disliking the current crop of awful singles from the radio and the gangsta rap sub-genre, but not the entire genre. It does need a serious reinvention, because a lot of it now feels like a parody of itself (Nas discusses this a lot with his latest CD, 'Hip Hop is Dead'). There's still good rap music, but you have to avoid the crap that's on the Billboard top 100 to hear it. Mims? D4L? UGK? Gimme a break.

tbm Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:13 PM EST

Oh Diane! I remember that song! It's called "Rappin Duke" and the artist (if he could be called that -- sheesh!) was John Wayne. Not THE John Wayne, of course. Waaayyy down the suwanee riverrrr....

Lori Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:11 PM EST

"I write the songs" -- Barry Manilow?

"This Kiss" -- Six Pence None the Richer

"Forever Your Girl" -- ??

"Baby Come Back" -- ??

"Zephir" -- Madonna (not sure if that's the right title)

"Hero" -- ?? Inglacious

babs Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:05 PM EST

I love "urban elitists" who think that just because someone is giving their OPINION then it is made out to be some slight of an entire community...YOU THINK AGAIN. An opinion is just that....it's a personal belief. It's not open for discussion. I disagree with alot of people's choices for most annoying song, but I don't go around whining and crying about it, or making caustic remakrs to them, insinuating somehow that they are hurting my feelings. I respect their choices and expect the same in return. I think that some hip-hop artists back in the 80's had some real talent. I loved Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, things like that. They were catchy, and sometimes had really good things to say. But, now it's just a bunch of sexist, racist, sex-craved, violent idiots. That said, I stand by my personal opinioni...I hate most rap music nowadays.....SO SUE ME! alot of people don't care for it. This is a fun poll, to get different views. My view is stated clearly. Get over it.

Diana Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:02 PM EST

I agree with an earlier comment about the luft balloons beginning 80's. There is also a song that I detested from the 80's can't think of the artist or the name of the song, but it sounded like the person who sings I am too sexy or Ray Romano's tv brother. The song was mainly a chorus Da-hu-hu-hu, da hu, hu,hu, hu hu ooooh! creeped me out each time.

Maple Jenny Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 06:00 PM EST

One more--"Fruit Salad" by The Wiggles.

maple jenny Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:55 PM EST

Sorry if these have been mentioned: Barber's Adagio and the song from Carmina Burana that starts with the words "sors salutis"--a pox on movie studios too cheap to hire composers of original music for their films! Those are way overused, so much that they've lost their sincere beauty.
The theme from the Love Boat
Whatever that duet between David Bowie and Mick Jagger was--Dancing in the Streets? The video played for that while I was working out, and I had to step off the machine momentarily, I was laughing so hard.

Lisa Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:52 PM EST

TLC's No Scrub. What the frak is a scrub? It's been 8 years and I still haven't figured it out.

Lorenzo Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:37 PM EST

I wish I could agree with Fatima and t3hdow about rap music but the thing is, rap music do have some very exceptional talent. Unfortunatley, most of them are underground artist who rap about something other than his/her sexual conquests and they're beef-with-of-week. Now, I am not saying pop musician don't this (actually, rap musician are pop musician if you haven't notice) but I think most people just want a change pace. Thanks to BET and MTV (which work for the same company: Viacom) we will hear nothing but Snoop, Lil' Wayne, Akon, T.I. and others until we get tired of them and decide to go and find good music to listen or wait for global warming to finally finish us off. Good luck, humans!

Fatima Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:20 PM EST

Ooo! Kristin got it right on with the spirit of the topic! Now those are some classic annoying songs!

and I'm glad t3hdow understands what I mean! There is a lot about hip-hop casual listeners wouldn't understand (production, beats and stuff). And I'm guessing these people think artists like Mims represent the whole genre. Try again.

Kristin Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:12 PM EST

It seems most stuff trashed is newer stuff - I am going WAAAAY old

Muskrat Love
Judy's Turn to Cry
Tell Laura I Love Her
Annie's Song
Love Will Keep us Together (Cap.&Ten)

t3hdow Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:06 PM EST

Whoops...forgot to sign the below post with my name.

Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 05:03 PM EST

I agree with Fatima. Although I can't vouche for country music - haven't given it a fair chance yet - but it's always funny that some people slam rap because they don't have musical talent. In that case, what about some of these pop stars who do the exact same thing? Sure, some of them have moderate skill, but they're just as guilty as some of these recent rappers of being no talent hacks with zero musical talent. Also, some of these rappers do have production skills, making them have some understanding of creating music (same with some pop artists). It's one of the most misunderstood things about the genre I've ever heard.

Fatima Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:52 PM EST

I don't know, "Lip Gloss" has its own innocent charm.
It seems like people think that artists like Lil Mama think they are making revolutionary music. I'm pretty sure they know the purpose of these songs and that's to have a fun time.
And why in today's world is anybody being forced to listen to music they hate? Don't they have iPods for stuff like this or do people still listen to the radio?

Craig Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:49 PM EST

"Since You've Been gone" by Kelly Clarkson, All Beyonce, Christina, J-Lo, Mariah, Fergie, Gwen Weee-Hoo!, Akon, and quite scarily the list is endless....!

Lighten up Francis Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:47 PM EST

Oops, I mean Fatima. Lighten up Fatima.

Nuff Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:47 PM EST

Most people got the idea and picked some good ones like "Don't cha and I'm too Sexy " but others just chose songs because they dislike the singers or the genre (Babs that would be you). This was supposed to be a fun thing not a spew your hatred.

Alicia W. Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:39 PM EST

You can add my vote to the following songs that have already been mentioned:
"You're Beautiful" -- Listening to James Blunt's warbling is like torture.
"Chicken Noodle Soup" -- WTF??
"Lip Gloss" -- Matt, I had no idea this crap existed until you pointed it out. Why, Matt? Why? ;)
"Kokomo" -- Just plain stupid.

Here are some jewels that haven't been mentioned yet:
"Believe" by Cher -- I had to listen to this awful mess all day, every day when I worked in a campus bookstore. Same thing goes for "This Kiss" by Faith Hill.
"Return of the Mack" -- That guy's voice is unbearable.
"Chain Hang Low" -- This idiotic song and others of its ilk are the reason why our elementary aged children can barely read. Instead of telling them to pick up a book and read, parents are letting their kids listen to crap like this and that "Lip Gloss". I work in an elementary school, so I witness this on a daily basis (and I happen to like hip hop, btw, but this is just ridiculous).

Fatima Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:30 PM EST

I hate it when EW opens up the floodgates for a bunch of posters who jump at the chance to show off how they think they are the ultimate authority in music.

Also, I'm no big fan of hers, but I think part of Fergie's appeal is how obnoxious it is. Do you guys think she doesn't know this?

Oh and writing off country and hip-hop completely just reeks of urban elitism.

Marshall Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:30 PM EST

Oh my dear No Brand Woman.

No Shite Sherlock!!! I was quoting Will Ferrell, not stating my opinion. I think "humps" is so obvious as to be a wink at dumb club hoppers, not serious, and not an attempt at anything other than being as offensievly, stupidly obvious as possible... to the point that it's a JOKE. Thus I was suggesting that Ferg is knowingly being stoopid.

...and laughing all the way to the bank, natch.

Abe Froman Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:28 PM EST

Bowling For Soup - 1985
Enrique Iglesias - Hero
Len - Steal My Sunshine

Alan Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:27 PM EST

Hey, don't knock Bolero! or Erotica!

Hmm...well, Heartbeat by Don Johnson immediately comes to mind, as do I Just Called to Say I Love You and Eddie Murphy's Party All the Time (I'm still trying to figure out if that song was a joke). Mambo No. 5...Don't Worry, Be Happy...Kokomo...Hip to Be Square...Dancing on the Ceiling...Coming Out of the Dark (faux gospel)...Sexyback (soooo obnoxious)...Muscles (Diana Ross--I mean, come on!)...Live Is Life (Opus--I don't know if Americans would know that song)...Can't We Try (Dan Hill)...Bop (Dan Seals)...Burning Heart (Survivor)...Desert Moon (Dennis De Young)...oh man, I could go on and on...

samp Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:21 PM EST

there is one song that drives me crazy, and not in a good way, like no other. it is "the way" by fastball. seriously want to smash the radio when it comes on...oh, also "my humps" by black eyed peas and pretty much anything by 50 cent.

samp Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:20 PM EST

healthypanda Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:12 PM EST

"You're Beautiful" also tops my list. I went on a trip once with an ex-boyfriend and his family, and his mother played that song and James Blunt's cd over and over. I wanted to throw myself out of the car to save my sanity.

healthypanda Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 04:09 PM EST

Oooo great topic.

"Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone"-this song would be good if the artist did not repeat "I know, I know, I know" about a hundred times.

"Mr. Roboto"-Not only is the song awful, it stays in my head for at least two weeks after I hear it.

The song that goes "You should be homeless." So annoying. In Living Color parodied it and it was hilarious.

Everytime I hear "Walking On Sunshine," I feel something akin to rage.

Anything by Mariah Carey also tops the list. I don't like to hear screaming when I listen to music.

"I Write the Songs," Barry Manilow. NO YOU DIDN'T WRITE THAT SONG, and it is overwrought anyway.

"Butterfly Kisses"-I have heard this song at both weddings and funerals, an d I am at a loss why. It is a trite piece of crap.

Dani Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:53 PM EST

Wow, so many bad songs - so little time. Come On Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners. Anyone go to Bantam Pizza in the late 70's? If so, my friends and I are responsible for your "Ring My Bell" pain. We'd fill up the little juke box at the table with quarters, select "Ring My Bell" a whole bunch of times and leave. Sorry - well, not really.

sd Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:52 PM EST

"Let Me Clear My Throat." I will dance to any song at any wedding (yes, even Shout), but that song mankes me want to clear the dance floor.

Doug Kaba Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:50 PM EST

I am sure a lot of you are not country music fans, but the most annoying song EVER is on the radio now. It is called TICKS by Brad Paisley. Yes, you read that correctly. TICKS! I can not stand it!

LF Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:37 PM EST

Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton still annoys me to this day...her Barry-White- sounding vocals, the video where she is crying in the shower, her misuse of the english language all make me want to throw myself off a bridge.

How Bizarre by OMC is a close second...

Chuck Fairhart Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:33 PM EST

having been on the 'it's a small world' ride at disney when it broke ... and being stuck in one of the various coloured lands for the best part of an hour hearing that song over and over ... and over ... it gets my vote.

lilly Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:32 PM EST

" Put me in coaach Im ready To-Play..(clap clap clap clap)...TO-DAYAY...Look at meee.. I could be centerfield!"
I don't know the artist or title but I am forever scarred. Uggh

MIMI Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:26 PM EST

For me it has to be "Love Hurts" by Nazareth and "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. The guy who sings with Nazareth has a voice that reminds me of nails on a chalkboard. And there is actually a spanish version that is just as annoying.

"Walking on Sunshine" is the one-hit wonder that WILL NOT DIE!!!! It's used in movies, commercials, TV shows...it just won't go away.

Carlos Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:22 PM EST

Anything by Sean Paul

Liza Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:10 PM EST

I just heard Mika's new song. It's called Love Today. I nominate that as the newest Most annoying song. I'm sure it will be on everyones list very soon.

Leigh Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:10 PM EST

I say "I Don't Wanna Wait" by Paula Cole. My friend says "Over and Over" by Nelly and Tim McGraw. I would have to concur with her.

Dude, those are great songs...English majors are not song writers

Reid Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 03:00 PM EST

Elton John - "Your Song"
"If I was a sculptor/but then again, no". Then why even mention it? You know, Mr. Taupin, there's something on the other end of your pencil called an eraser. And if you don't like a line, you can just erase it. Or even just scratch it out. You don't have to actually have to keep it in the final draft of the song.

Steve Miller Band - "Take The Money And Run"
"Billy Mack is a detective down in Texas/You know he knows just exactly what the facts is/He ain't gonna let those two escape justice/He makes his livin' off of the people's taxes".
If Billy Shakespeare had murdered rhyme schemes like Steve Miller did, every Lit class would be two weeks shorter.

"For a moment like this, some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this, some people search forever
For that one special kiss
I can't believe it's happening to me!
Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this"
...that song got even worse when they started using it for a vacation-destination commercial. *Cue vomiting*

The Lenny Kravitz version of "American Woman" .... GAH! The thought of it sends shivers down my spine!!

The most annoying song out there right now has got to be Snoop Dogg and Akon's "I wanna f*** you". Not only do every single radio station play this song 24/7 (ahh!) but you even have teenagers (and probably younger kids) singing about a guy who just wants to have sex with on the kitchebn floor everywhere because it has a catchy hook. I am a 20-year-old guy and even I think that this is just beyond disgusting. On a serious note, was anybody able to catch the video of Akon dry-humping a 14 year old girl? Yes, I said 14 and I am not kidding. Here's the link:

By the by, the song "Bang My Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren is just what the doctor ordered after a rough day at work - T-bone.

They play it every Friday at 5:00pm on WKNR 98.5FM here in Cleveland. It always hits the spot.

At least "You're Mother Should Know" is a decent song to hum along to. The list itself that you reference is stupid. What is the connection between "The Macarena" and the theme from "Good Times". And why is the theme from "Good Times" considered irritating? Did it just irritate the person writing the list? I've never met anyone with a problem with that tune.

"Just be lucky we got 'em....."

Personally Irritating -

"Wonderful Tonight"
"Born in the U.S.A."

Not Irritating -

"A Horse With No Name" by America
You don't even know the name of the song so your opinion doesn't really matter about this song khrystyne.

Let me throw in Rex Smith's "You Take My Breath Away," I couldn't stand it then (late 1970s), and that hasn't changed since.

We Built This City, on Rock and Roll, by Starship. Is the WORST SONG EVER

t-bone Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 02:23 PM EST

i don't know who sings it, and i don't know what its called, but that song that goes "i don't wanna work, i wanna bang on me drum all day." that song seriously makes me want to punch things.

Ugh, the song "Zombies" by the Cranberries feels like the audioj equivalent of nails scraping my brain! I swear I want to pat the lead singer on the back during the chorus because she sounds like she got a bad case of hiccups midway through....

i could sit here all day remembering. here's an old one: pia zadora and jermaine jackson-when the rain begins to fall. i remember being around 15 and hearing this on the radio every 3 minutes. here's a more recent one: crazy in love, beyonce. slezak, don't hate me, but this song was popular when i'd just had my baby, i was on little sleep. this song was everywhere: radio, tv, and people singing it. on very high decibels. it still drives me nut.

Moi Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 02:08 PM EST

Most of you got it right with crap like Macarena and Final Countdown, but a lot of you are putting good songs on the hate list.
All a matter of taste people!

melissa-that excercise class AND the cruise sound like places that were SUPPOSED to be enjoyable at one point

Cay Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 01:54 PM EST

Any song by Everclear. They're all essentially the same song anyway.

To SA Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 01:48 PM EST

That would be Matthew Wilder, one-hit wonder.

Anything from Matchbox 20 (including Rob Thomas songs), Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Creed, Sean Paul, and Huey Lewis. Everytime I hear any of their songs, I get an ear infection, which happens to be all the time. When I hear those artists, I actually plead with God to make me deaf.

sa Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 01:46 PM EST

Can't remember who sings it but I think it's called BREAK MY STRIDE Something about a little tugboat to China. HATE IT!!!!! and Macarena too

Jen Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 01:45 PM EST

I think the number one worst song in the history of the world is Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo. Everything I ever heard from Oingo Boingo sucks. And I know I'm gonna catch it for this, but I absolutely HATE HATE HATE Imagine by John Lennon. The whiny, preachy tone of it makes my skin crawl.
