The Hold Steady's 'Stuck Between Stations' video

Not exactly new (came out last week, I think), but too good not to share: the Hold Steady's video for "Stuck Between Stations." All's I gotta say is, I dream of a day when I get a hand-mailed cassette from Craig Finn. As the SATs would put it, Craig Finn : Whitney :: Fergie : Slezak.

This is the best song of 2006. I LOVE this album.

The reference to Kerouac's On the Road, the piano players Super Mario Brothers mustache, the fact that they don't refer to themselves as being Fergilicious. All good things, and you don't even have to be cool to understand them.

I guess I'm not cool enough to understand what in god's name is any good about this.

And please take that in a flattering way. Keep writing the Apprentice TV watch too.

Chris Wed, Mar 28, 2007 at 01:49 PM EST

Perhaps the first stupid thing you've ever posted, Whitney.

furry_tom Wed, Mar 28, 2007 at 11:54 AM EST

But maybe that's because Finn sent me a friggin' 8-track.

I like The Hold Steady, but as for bespectacled singers of literary-minded indie rock bands, I'm in the Colin Meloy camp.
