Here's what to wear to tonight's Pam-vs.-Karen showdown on 'The Office'

10503__tshirts_l She may not be a globetrotting humanitarian/
Oscar-winning actress but "exotic" Karen (Rashida Jones) on The Office is the new "other woman" that folks love to hate. Camps have been forming for and against the Stamford temptress since she was introduced this season as the new love interest for our favorite paper pusher, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). Many viewers aren’t ready to give up hope for a romance between Jim and office assistant Pam (Jenna Fischer) -- no matter how many times she rolls her office chair all over his heart, turning up her cute litle nose, sputtering her indecisive, namby pamby pseudo-declarations... um where was I? Oh yeah, Now that the three of them are thrown together in tonight’s supersized merger episode, you can quite succinctly proclaim whose side you’re on with these t-shirts.  Can you guess which team I’m on?

Even if you're not ready to take sides, you simply have to watch this Office fanvid set to Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack." Who knew they danced so much on the show? It's the funniest thing ever... even if you’re not a Justin fan.

So, whose shirt would you wear: Pam's or Karen's? Do you care enough to sport one? And what does it say about me that I find Michael dancing  to "SexyBack" with garbage cans on his feet really sexy? Don’t judge me too harshly...

I just bought a TEAM KAREN shirt. She is not afraid of her feelings and obviously is ready to fight for Jim. Pam blew it big time!

Melanie Fri, Nov 17, 2006 at 04:09 AM EST

Hey - can anyone tell me what happened in the last twenty minutes of the office, cause I just had to switch to Grey's. And team Pam all the way!

brandonk Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:18 PM EST

I don't think it was out of character for Pam to dump Roy, even at the alter. She's taking baby steps towards being more independent and assertive and going after her dreams. For instance, she's going to art school finally. Mostly she's still reticent about making changes, but I think she'll get there.

brandonk Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:16 PM EST

Pam and Jim! Pam and Jim! Pam and Jim!
Karen's okay, but Pam and Jim are so wonderful together.

Becca Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 03:49 PM EST

Ep Sato - Wow, you apparently are seeing a very different verison of Pam than the rest of us. I agree with Lauren, Pam was engaged when Jim declared his feelings for her. What was she suppose to do? I think the road she has taken is much more respectable than dumping her fiance and immediately start dating Jim. Anyway, I am firmly on Team Pam. Jenna and John have amazing chemistry and the producers of The Office would be foolish to let that go to waste.

Ep Sato Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 03:33 PM EST

Totally disagreed about Pam. She let both men go, one of them at the altar. Plain old flaky. Relatable because a lot of people pull that "I don't really love you but am too passive-aggressive to say it to you" BS, but it would have been more real and in character for her to stay with Roy and to be in a bad marriage. Leaving her man was out of character if anything.

In terms of what should occur, wouldn't it be more fun if Pam got a new guy? It'd be fun if we got to return to the old "I'm taken but like you kinda" days of the Office yore.

Fellas know who Pam is. She's the ex girlfriend who cheated, but who then calls her ex six months later while he has a romantic dinner with his new girlfriend, all the while wailing about how "lonely" she feels. Sorry, but Pam gets no love...

anonymous Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 03:30 PM EST

JOHN KRASINSKI is on People's sexiest man alive list! Go John!!

Amber Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 02:23 PM EST

Thank you Lauren, I agree. Pam did not have her "chance" she was engaged. She did not want to be a cheater plus Jim was one of her best friends. I admire her a lot more for working it out by herself than flinging herself at someone else right away. I am talking like Pam Easley is a real person, I watch TOO much TV. Anyway, Karen is cool but TEAM PAM!

Devin Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 02:22 PM EST

This entire post was basically on the "Best Week Ever" blog last week. Way to be PopWatch, way to be.

The Other Kyle Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 02:20 PM EST

I'm for TEAM PAM in the long-term but TEAM KAREN on the short.

I think Jim and Pam are a perfect match personality wise and have great chemistry. But the way she jerked him around and lead him on for 2 seasons deserves retribution.

She deserves to be shunned for a bit and made to stew. If she gets back with her ex when Jim comes back then I'm officially done with her. Go Karen's way.

Rene Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 02:03 PM EST

Team Karen!!!
She is way hotter and she actually likes Jim, as opposed to Pam who threw him into the friend zone and tortured him for 2 seasons.

officerocks Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 01:23 PM EST

Jim will get with Karen temporarily, then end up with Pam in the end. Till then, there will be shenanigans aplenty! I loved the fanvid, though as usual I wondered who has that kind of free time and where can I get some!

angela Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 12:53 PM EST

John and Rashida WERE dating -- not anymore, John lists himself as single. Jim and Pam all the way!!!!!!!

Danny Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 12:10 PM EST

Forget Jim/Pam/Karen, I'm more interested in what the Jim/Dwight situation is going to be like, with Jim as the real Assistant Regional Manager. That's gonna be fun.

Crystal Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 12:08 PM EST

TEAM KAREN! I love Pam and I think it’s great that she’s finding herself. Jim needs to date someone else to get his mojo back while working on repairing the sweet and lovely best friendship of Jim & Pam. Once they’ve become more independent they can work on perhaps being a couple.

As far as the actors, every interview I’ve read with Jenna she wants Pam & Jim to get married and have babies, John is a little more iffy.

Mary Ann Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 12:00 PM EST

I'm for anything that helps the ratings of this wonderful show. My 20 year old daughter and bond over TV shows all of the time and have our favorites but "The Office" belongs to me and my 18-year old son. "The Office" has let me find out what kind of woman he likes (he's definitely in the "Pam" camp) and what kind of things he finds funny (we both laughed until we cried over the death disucssion and Pam talking about her "cousin who was a boxer" and Ryan talking about his "Uncle Mafoosa"). So, I say keep the triangle going and turn this show into water cooler must-see TV where it belongs. I'm for both of these girls. Plus, Roy really looks good this season so for fun, it would be cool if Roy and Karen had some sparks.

jake Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 12:00 PM EST

I'm glad someone compared this story to the way the British Office played out. If you watch the show you might notice that they seem to be following bits and pieces of the British version, but taking a longer trail to get there.

In the British Office, Tim had another woman before Dawn finally came around, and in fact Dawn went to America with Lee at the end of the series, before they came back and wrapped it up in the Special. So the American Office will get there eventually, but as stated before they are trying to make for good television.

Team Pam...

Lauren Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 11:28 AM EST

To you people who call Pam flaky or said she already had her chance: she was engaged! to her high school sweet heart! Dumping Roy for Jim on Casino Night would not only have completely underminded her character, it wouldn't have made for good tv, the main couple can't get together at the end of the 2nd season, come on.

I'm Team Pam to the end, but I don't mind if there are a few twists and turns on the way. Still, I also don't feel much chemistry between Jim and Karen, I don't if it's because Jim and Pam have such unbelievable onscreen chemistry that I feel that why but I just don't feel it. Maybe it's because John and Rashida are dating (or dated, depending on what you read) real life couple seem to rarely have that onscreen spark.

Tyler D Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 11:03 AM EST

I'm in love with both Pam and Karen, but I also think it's a damn shame they had to get rid of Amy Adams so quickly. Great actress! But I think the real choice for any die-hard Office fan would be Team Jan or Team Carol. Also, whatever happended to Todd Packer?

ag Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 11:03 AM EST

Ep Sato:

I'm confused: When did Pam skip out on the art program? I thought just last week she said something to Roy about how she was currently enrolled...

Besides, I'd have thought it was way flakier for her to hook up with Jim before she resolved the situation with Roy once and for all. She didn't flake out on him either, she waited years for him to commit and finally realized she'd outgrown him. Huh, I guess I just see her character differently...

FYI y'all: John Krazinski made People Magazine's 2006 Sexiest Men Alive List. WOOT!!

Ep Sato Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:42 AM EST

Team Karen all the way. Pam had her chance and has demonstrated herself to be wayyyy too flakey. First she disses her man, then she disses her fiance. Then she disses herself by skipping out on that art program that Jim had encouraged her to sign up for.

Pam's got a good heart, but flaky good hearted people tend to be cheaters and tend to do nothing with themselves. On the other hand, Karen's moving to Scranton PA to be with her man. Jim's way better off with Ms. Quincy Jones Jr. than he is with flaky flakerton.

And this should in no way be seen as a dis on Jenna Fischer, who's a hottie Mc hot hot in real life.

Howard Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:39 AM EST

Poor Jim, having two attractive (Pam's cute on the show, but the picture that EW ran of her a few weeks ago put her at a whole 'nother level) women vying for his affection. For now, I look at it like New York football: I root for both the Jets and Giants, and am pleased when either one wins. The difference here is that how one does in The Office affects the other a lot more than the Jets and Giants.

Marisa Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:34 AM EST

That fanvid makes more sense than the real video for SexyBack.

cj Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:32 AM EST

karen all the way.pam you had your chance girlfriend.

Jeff Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:11 AM EST

Rashida and John really are dating

Becca Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 10:09 AM EST

Team Pam always and forever! With that said, I do like Karen and I don't mind her and Jim flirting a little bit. But Pam and Jim's relationship is the heart and soul of this show.

Vicky Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:59 AM EST

TEAM PAM!

I do like Karen, but I'll always be a JAM fan. I still enjoy the sexual tension on the show so I say keep that going. The writers will know when to put them together.

Ceballos Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:53 AM EST

Team Karen for now...Pam needs to see Jim and Karen flirt and, maybe even, date for a little while longer. Make her suffer for shattering my boy Jim's heart.

Scott P Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:37 AM EST

TEAM PAM of course, although I have great respect for Team Karen.

Of course he'll be back with Pam though, who do you think she was text messaging at that party before she drove Michael home??

ag Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:21 AM EST

OMG, it's a good thing I'm the only one in the office right now, bc that fanvid had me busting out laughing HARD!!

Team Pam all the way. She and Jim are perfect, though of course for the sake of the show I realize that it can't happen YET. Plus, Karen has been growing on me, which I never thought would be possible. But still, I have a crazy girl crush on Pam, so she gets my vote.

step Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:19 AM EST

TEAM PAM!!

That being said, people keep telling me about how John K said that he doesn't see Jim and Pam getting together, but where is the source for this? I'd really like to see it.

mark Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:07 AM EST

GO TEAM KAREN!!! All those on Team Pam should read up on what Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski who tend to agree that they're characters don't even belong together! But that's neither here nor there. The truth of the matter is that Karen is freakin awesome and belongs with Jim! The End. lol

Carmela Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 08:47 AM EST

I'm rooting for Karen, although I hope they keep the triangle going for a long time. At first, I did not see much chemistry between Jim and her, but now, there is a little twinkle when they talk to each other. It's very cute how she melted that tough exterior. I liked Pam a lot but she is too indecisive and toys with Jim too much. I don't like it when people don't go for what they want. You only have one life. Why waste it? But of course, toying with Jim will ultimately mean that she will prove utterly irresistible to him because a lot of men (generally speaking) love nothing more than a good chase. I also feel so sorry for Pam's ex-fiancé. I didn't like him last season, but this year, I think he's kind of a hottie. Those sad puppy dog eyes looking at her are just so heart breaking.

Sara Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 08:43 AM EST

There wasn't much chemistry between Jim and Karen in the first few episodes. It's getting better. Rumour has it that they're dating.

That being said, GO TEAM PAM!

Jennifer Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 08:25 AM EST

Am I the only one who doesn't see a bit of chemistry between John Krasinski and Rashida Jones? This isn't because I'm on Team Pam! As a fan of the British Office, I was fully expecting another woman to come into the picture. However, while I don't dislike Karen, I don't understand where all the crazy Karen love comes from or where people see any chemistry at all between Karen and Jim...and I would have liked someone other than Pam to temporarily root for.

Maria Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 07:51 AM EST

For now, Team Karen. It's too soon for Jim and Pam to get together and I think Rashida Jones is gorgeous and really good on the show.
