Katherine Heigl: She wuz robbed!

Jul 20, 2006, 07:21 PM | by Michael Slezak

Categories: 'Grey's Anatomy', Celebrity Birthdays, Emmys

18016__heigl_l Talk about déjà vu! Visiting Gold Derby today, I noticed they'd picked up a quote from Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl, kidding around with ComingSoon.net about costars Sandra Oh (who's celebrating her birthday today) and Chandra Wilson scoring Emmy nominations: "Screw them! What happened to mine? That's what I want to know. What happened to my nomination?"

Believe it or not, these are almost the exact same words the blogfather used on Emmy nominations morning: "Screw them! What happened to Katherine Heigl's nomination? That's what I want to know. What happened to Izzie's nomination?" Freaky, huh?

Of course, Mickey totally lurrrves Heigl, and wants to have 10,000 of her babies, but y'know, that doesn't mean he doesn't have a point.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Nuh-uh!]

she is a terrific actress!!! she seems totally real...esp. season 1, esp. 4?-her preformance gave me goosebumps

mike Sat, Jul 22, 2006 at 01:35 PM EST

Had she been nominated, she had the perfect tapes to win... Its a sham she didn't get the nom, cause the Emmy would have been hers.

even tho i love greys anatomy and her character i dont think she's such a good actress. chandra wilson and especially sandra oh is so much better, i dont find it suprising at all that she didnt get nominated.

Robbie Sat, Jul 22, 2006 at 06:57 AM EST

Katherine Heigl has been the best thing on Grey's Anatomy since day 1. She was robbed of an Emmy nomination because ABC submitted the superbowl episode - an episode where she didnt have a lot to do. It is a disgrace she was not nominated. Amazing actress.

Miles Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 03:02 PM EST

None of the nominees deserve nominations. I'm sorry, but who wants an Emmy? it's not like it's an Academy Award, a Tony or a Pulitzer Prize, Hell, it's not even a freaking Golden Globe, it's an EMMY for god sakes! it's like a cracker jack prize, totally worthless. I can't believe EW devotes that much time to an ancient, outdated award that should have gone the days of yore back in 80's.

Troy Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 02:45 PM EST

Well, if she submitted any of the episodes involving her character's relationship with Denny, in my opinion, she was asking for a snub. Talk about overwrought.

Brett Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 02:37 PM EST

Heigl doesn't deserve anything. That character she plays is so trite I can't believe it. Overdramatic, overacting, and that is just from the looping commercials and radio ads I see everywhere. Also, when an actor asks where their nomination was shows they have NO CLASS AND NO TALENT. Get over yourself "Grey's Anatomy", CSI is taking you down.

CIP Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 02:09 PM EST

I don't think Heigl derserved a nomination. Her scene with the group and Danny (when he died) wasn't that good. In fact, I think she is the weakest actor of the whole cast.

Rosie Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 01:55 PM EST

I don't think she was over the top during the finale at all. That's exactly the panicked, overcome way I would've acted. OK, I wouldn't have cut the LV wire, but I'd have screamed and cried just like Izzie.

Howard Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 01:25 PM EST

Love her. LOVE HER. Went a little over the top in the finale, but LOVE HER. Enough to fight Slezak for her. That said, if we're going to ask what happened to her Emmy nomination, then we have to ask what happened to nominations for the following people first (in no particular order):

Jason Bateman
Zach Braff
Jason Lee
Rainn Wilson
John Krazinski
John C. McGinley
Donald Faison
Ethan Suplee
Jeffrey Tambor
Neil Patrick Harris
Nadine Velasquez
Jenna Fischer
Holland Taylor
Judy Reyes
Sarah Chalke
Jessica Walter
Allison Hannigan
James Gandolfini
Ian McShane
Hugh Laurie
Bradley Whitford (Martin Sheen was barely in half the episodes)
Edie Falco
Jennifer Garner
Marcia Cross (drama, not comedy)
Eva Longoria (same)
Isiah Washington
T.R. Knight
Terry O'Quinn
Naveen Andrews
Victor Garber
Ron Rifkin
Carl Lumbly (for earlier seasons of Alias, if not this one)
Mary Louise Parker
Maura Tierney (I know ER is not in the spotlight anymore, but she's been great for YEARS)
Parminder Nagra
Kevin Connolly
Kevin Dillon
Jeanne Trippelhorn
Lauren Graham
Kristen Bell (don't watch GG or VM, but I'll take your word for it)
David Caruso (KIDDING!!)

Not that I've been thinking about this or anything.

Again, I resume my call for mandatory drug testing for Emmy voters!!!

Elyse, you are an amazingly consistent font of popwatch negativity.

Elyse Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 11:48 AM EST

that woman cannot act worth a SH*T

D Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 10:43 AM EST

Urgh, if Katherine Heigl was nominated for an Emmy, we would know FOR SURE that the nomination process was F'd up. She's atrocious.

Rishi Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 10:25 AM EST

She is so Beautiful, but looks a lot like Kate Bosworth. I guess she could take off the role in Superman

Mike D Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 10:14 AM EST

OMG! I love Mickey Slezak! You always take the words out of my mouth. 10,000 babies? Loves IT!!

shelley Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 08:28 AM EST

i heart katherine heigl.

Kenneth Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 07:47 AM EST

Oooh, Jon, your so observant. Except, the EW writers ALREADY pointed out THEMSELVES that their blog entry is about an entry on another blog about an interview Heigl gave to another site. Unlike a lot of sites, they give credit to the original source, and who says Heigl's snub isn't worth discussing anyhow?

cabri Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 05:41 AM EST

To make up for the Emmy snub, Katherine has my vote for to win the Wonder Woman lead. Gorgeous? Check. Amazonian? OMG, check! Dark hair? Clairol!! (Plus, she WAS a lot darker in her Roswell days.)

erin Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 12:28 AM EST

i love katherine!

i just saw the new snow patrol video on youtube with all the scenes from grey’s anatomy in it.

this song rocks!!!

jon Fri, Jul 21, 2006 at 12:28 AM EST

I love Pop Watch, but I think everyone should realize that this is a blog entry about an entry on another blog (that I read a week ago) about an interview Heigl gave to yet another site. I know the EW writers are busy but could they hire one person (just one person) to maybe blog about original ideas or comments on pop culture... just a thought...

Tim L Thu, Jul 20, 2006 at 07:24 PM EST

Hey Slezak, Alan Ball called, he wants his line back and told me to tell you to stop riding on his coat tails like Federline.
