A facts a fact,when your beautiful and talented, and get ahead in the world, there are always going to be hateful, jealous people that will try and put you down. Kellie is smarter than you that are busy trashing her. For she is doing what she set out to do, and the rest of you are just talking about it. I am the mother of three daughters, and can't even imagine abandoning one of my children the way her mother did. From what I have seen and heard of Kellie, I think she is amazing and gifted, and done well for herself. I give her credit for doing all she can to make a better life for herself. Kellie has a beautiful voice when she sings the songs that are right for her style. She is genuine, and is the first to admit when she did not do well on a song. I don't recall any of the other contestants doing that. I fell in love with her from the first time I saw her on TV, and heard the short piece on her life. It breaks my heart to hear people say such hateful things about a child that had the unlucky start in life as she has. Who cares if she doesn't know what certain foods are.I never heard of Calamari until I was in my late 40's. I grew up in N.Y. and when I first moved to California, I was in the produce isle of a grocery store picking things up,looking at them and smelling them trying to figure out what the heck it was. A clerk there found it entertaining,and I didn't think that made me a lesser person to have to ask him,"hey what is this"? Kellie is charming, and I hope she goes far. She and Taylor were two of my favorites this season. I think that all 12 finalist of this season of American Idol are gifted and talented in there own way.I wish nothing but the best for each and everyone of them, and I'm glad that they do not let people's negativity detour them from thier dreams! People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks!

A true Southerner speaks down to earth, plain old Southern English… (Taylor Hicks) with maybe a bit of a true drawl. Kellie sounds flat- out (what we refer down here to) as "Redneck". It IS embarrassing to Southerners …and women alike.

Idol is amazing this season! Pickler is a joke and should be an embarrassment to all "Southern" residents. I have never bought her "dumb blonde" shtick and if I were from the south I would take offense with it. It's quite obvious that she is voted for because of her marginal voice but mostly due to her appearance (which is starting to look a bit ragged after the Queen Tuesday!). A cute body and smile is just that. Nothing more. Kellie is totally "one dimensional" and should not make it much further. Taylor has the perfect blues type voice and is quite talented. He is able to let his individuality show and it is always obvious that he is a true "performer" and is enjoying the entire experience. Kathryn is fortunate that the camera loves her, as she is quite striking. Her voice is good (not great) and she is typically boring on stage, but I'm certain she will go to the final four, if not the top two. Paris will leave soon and only because of her age. She has awesome "potential", but is still quite young. If she came to me… I would put her on hold until she matures, maybe on a "development" deal. I'm torn about Elliot. He has a strong voice with lots of potential. I'm thinking that he is more of a "crooner/balladeer" and next week with them singing the "Standards" with Rod Stewart will be a good chance for him to shine. To be totally honest, I think he will fall soon and not because of his talent, but because of his "media" appeal. So not true to his voice, but it is what it is and America is voting. And Ace. He definitely has the girl vote a Pickler has the boys locked in. This is not so bad. His voice is really quite nice and shines when he is able to work in his falsetto. I liken him to Kathryn a lot with respect to his "Idol" lifespan in that the camera and audience can go with his "appeal" and ability to work the camera….but Ace…PLEASE….. pick the right songs! It's all you need. I would sign him and work hard to truly find his nitch. He is not a true rocker and country is not a perfect fit either. Pop could be his genre, but then again, I felt he was quite good with Keith Urban. I see him getting signed and doing well, but he won't be this seasons "Idol". And now…. your winner…. Chris Daughtry! Hands down, he is the BEST talent on the stage. End of subject. He totally has the "rock" thing down and can soften it when necessary. His stage presence and camera appeal goes without saying. I'd sign him in a heartbeat and blow him up! Challenges for him lie in getting a band together to back him that is as talented as he is!

Now, for our judges. Randy is "hit or miss" with being consistent. Being an artist and A&R/Industry "insider" allow him more credibility than most may give him credit for (although he could use to skip all the "name dropping". Sheesh….! ) and Paula should flat out be replaced. She seems to be there for her "mother/personal cheerleader" input as well as fashion commentary and quite possibly something "interesting for the Dad's" to view while their kids watch the show each week. To be blunt… she is most annoying.

Finally. Whether anyone likes it or not, Simon is ALWAYS RIGHT! His ear and insight are impeccable. What he lacks in tact and diplomacy he makes up for in industry experience and his ability to "see" the true star quality and media potential. When it comes time for him to give his observation/opinion of each performance, Paula's hands should be strapped down and she should be muzzled.

I'm from Malaysia and I watch American Idol too. I dun really care whether Kellie is a fake or not, but I think she doesn't sing as well as the others. And she gives me the impression that Southern fellas r dumb (though from what I read this notion is untrue).

I like Mandisa, though you say she's big or fat or whatever, but at least she stands up for what she believes in and that means a lot. Plus the fact no one else is better than her, vocally. But I know she won't win because her girth is her disadvantage, which is really unfair.

First of all, I live about 13 miles from Kellie, and have some close connections with her. She is not putting on that much of an act. Kellie is a very sweet genuine girl, who, by the way is a hell of a lot better singer than several on the show now. And yes, she has the best, by far, personality of anyone(what do you know about stuck-up, and unbelievably clearly fake Katherine MacPhee?). So don't judge someone you don't really know.

The thing Carrie Underwood has over Kelly is that she can actually SING. Kelly has really horrible singing chops and a lot of the reason she's still around is for her looks and so-called "southern charm" which is nothing more than an accent and a gee willikers attitude. I don't buy it. It's just annoying. Southerners are a lot more spirited and charming than this little girl.

The only reason why Simon is preferring her is because of her looks. We all know Simon likes good looking women. Kelly is cute, I don't deny that. She just can't sing. I doubt she will make it to the final 2. There are far better singers on this year's show.

I was born and raised in the south and even though the dumb country girl is annoying, I think, it could be, honest...at least in part. I grew up a poor southern girl and had never heard of Calamari until about 8 years ago. I was also brought up to say "Sal-mon". The only difference is, I kept my mouth shut if I didn't understand or thought something was pronounced another way. I learned as I went along, unlike Kellie's "everything's out in the open" philosophy.

I believe some of the "aw shucks" stuff. She doesn't seem like the brightest bulb in the lamp, but I'll have more respect for her when she comes clean about her past singing experience. I'm amused by her deluded fans who don't believe she has prior TV exposure. She was in a televised singing competition in NC (came in 2nd) and it's all verifiable. That being said, I can't even really focus on her singing with the act she's putting on. I doesn't matter anyway, Mandisa is the only girl singer worth her salt.

Okay, I guess she's cute, but this is supposed to be a singing competition. When she said "I've eaten sal-mon" i got irritated, but the mink comment just about made me lose it. What I hate is that she said things like
"I have never really performed in front of anyone"

which leads Ryan to say things like "This is your first time on a stage like this"

Then we find out that its just not true, that she was on a TV in North Carolina. So not only has she performed in front of lots of people, but she has TV experience as well.

Like it or not the whole "I've only sung in front of my chickens" shtick has added to her popularity. Which sucks because it's all an act.

I personally think that Kellie is a little bit naive, and definately feeling like a fish out of water. However, when she saw how people were perceiving her as so 'unpretentious' and 'likable,' she just started to lay it on as thick as she possibly could to win votes. And, unfortunately, it seems to be working. American Idol is first and foremost a singing competition. And let's face it, if we were judging strictly on her performance, without the sob story and look-at-me-I'm-so-cute-and-I-just-don't-get-it! schtick...well, Kellie's the worst girl left. If America were ever to crown Pickler as our AI, that would be an insult to Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, and Carrie Underwood. Personal feelings aside, all four idols are miles, miles better than Kellie.

And plus, how naive can the girl who lives about an hour away from Charlotte be? Like she's really never been tanning (she obviously has), been to a salon (have you seen the fake blonde she has going on?), and been to a shopping mall (those cheap looking tank tops she always wears are clearly Wet Seal/Forever 21 crap). All that aside, she simply isn't good enough anymore. Unfortunately, with the way the judges don't even comment on her awful singing and clearly want her to go far, we are going to see Pickler on our screens for a while...

OK, enough with the "Awe shucks, I ain't never seen no sal-mon before." And "I guess I'm a MINK???" Puh-leeze!!! And, while I agree with Simon that Kellie has FAR more personality than Carrie Underwood could ever hope to have, I do NOT think she has half the voice. Carrie bores me but Kellie is getting on my last nerve!

I'm from the MS Gulf Coast and I swear I know a girl just like her. Both of these girls knows what gets attention and that dumb blonde thing has always worked. Because of that I don't think she's being fake but just acting out this same ole routine that she's been putting on for years. It's gonna start wearing on people's nerves and she'll be history.

Of course, she's fake. She's been off the farm enough to have her teeth whitened, her hair colored, and her skin bronzed. I've known girls like her all my life, all "Miss Sweet and Innocent" while stabbing you in the back.

Plus she's a lousy singer.

I think Kellie is genuine, but as far as American Idols go, not for me sorry. We had a sweet girl from the South, and while I wholeheartedly agree that Kellie has more personality in her fingernail than Carrie's whole body, she doesnt have the vocals chops like Mandisa or Katherine to win this competition. It's good TV, and I buy it. I just don't think she's acting because she can't be THAT good an actress. Whatever it is, I am enjoying her. I don't see her lasting to say, the final 4 or anything, and I don't think she should (based on talent), but for now, she cracks me up.

I don't think that's it's all one way or the other. I think Kellie is smarter than she wants to appear, but I don't think she's a manipulative fraud, either. How many women are taught from birth that guys like it when they don't act too intelligent? And how many celebrities (Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears) are rewarded for being airheads? Kellie's only behaving the way she's been told to.

But I do think it's ridiculous that Carrie Underwood gets trashed all the time because she has no stage presence. The woman's only been performing for a few months now, and I'd much rather hear her sing motionless then watch Britney dance and torture yet another bad pop song.

Though not my favorite, Kellie is interesting to me because when she performs, she knows how to work the stage with the look and moves of a seasoned artist. And because of that, when she talks, I can't quite tell if she really is as "aw shucks" as she appears but, her comment last night about the "mink" seemed really genuine. So, I think it's possible that she is sincere but, still knows how to work it.

As far as the Carrie Underwood comparisons go, Kellie may not be as vocally on par, but I have to say her personality (something Carrie often lacks) more than makes up for it. Some would say that vocal talent should trump everything, but an artist won't be successful if they don't have something more to back that up. And Lisa is a good example because she is a very talented singer, but, I have no sense of who she is as a person, or as a performer.

Having said all that, I still think Mandisa and Katherine are the ones to be beat because they have both the vocal talent and the personality to make it (even if Katherine needs help from a stylist).

If anyone had the other side, it's Carrie Underwood. From the way Kellie talks, she sounds to me, mean everything that comes out of her mouth. I had to rewind my Tivo and watch "I'm a mink!" comment over again because it was really funny, and she didn't mean anything by it. Yes, it was really good TV, and I got a rare laugh from watching American Idol.

I like Kellie. She is cute and appealing, regardless of the dumbness.

I am already quite weary of all the Mandisa worship. She's a nice singer. She oversang "Cry" horribly. "I'm Every Woman" was brilliant, I admit. But I just don't see how she is the greatest thing ever, when Paris, Lisa and Katharine are all just as talented and have put in equally good performances.

This child has been getting on my nerves for weeks now. I don't buy her "backstory" (they all get dated after the auditions round); I don't buy that she has impressive vocal chops (she does not, and we can put Lisa Tucker in with her); she's a side show, and makes the exact same mistake the bland Carrie Underwood did last season, she's robotic. Did anyone actually believe what she was singing last night? That she's "the only one?" Nope. Why? Because she didn't believe it, which is part of the problem with most Idol contestants.

Pickler is annoying. She's overrated. And it ain't because she has a southern accent, it's because she's on a gimmick. Send her home please America.

Well even if she is a little bit "dumb", she's not nearly as dumb as Michael Slezak for saying that Lisa should go home tonight in his Idol Recap. yeah because for a 16 year old she's not amazing at all! Nor could she improve at all! and I'm SO SURE Melissa won't be kicked out first if she makes the top 12! Geez.

Usually I get annoyed by Idol Sob Stories and fan favorites,but Kellie seems a hundred percent genuine. I honestly don't think she's putting on an act and its endearing. She's not my favorite and I don't want her to win, but she is likable AND talented, so I wish her the best throughout the show.

But I gotta agree with the detractors on her voice. Her pipes are nowhere near Katherine McPhee's or Mandisa! (my favorite of the XXers).

Sadly, I totally buy it and love it! Usually I'm on the cynical end (whats wrong with me this year? I even like Will Makar!?!) though I'm totally not buying Katharine, she seems to play it up a bit too much for me (more than even Paris, who drives me nuts but at least she seems to bop her head in real life, kinda like those bobbleheads.)

Lay off Kellie! Looks like the rest of you are so jaded and cynical (except Aaron) that you refuse to believe it's possible for her to be genuinely sweet and a tad naive. I love her personality, her looks, and definitely her voice.
Mandisa isn't much more than a loud, shrieking gospel singer who shouts every song the same way. I find her irritating and, frankly, difficult to watch. So good luck, Kellie! I'm with you!

God. So anyone with a southern accent is a redneck these days? Yay! Although let me say, I value a good redneck (good, not to be confused with politician) and their honesty over the put on airs of big city folk looking to make a buck by stabbing the little guy in the back.

First, Kellie is a North Carolinian, living in a town very close to South Carolina. I'm not defending her talent (or lack thereof), since I think she's the weakest female in the competition right now and her reign needs to end. But Kellie is in every way a cuter, younger, less judgemental version of my grandmother. My grandmother finds her cute and adorable and oh, by the way, what does "minx" mean? (Her exact words from last night, post-Idol.) We don't have Calamari in restaurants unless you go to Charlotte, Greensboro or Raleigh. Salads really do consist mainly of iceburg lettuce. We also have foods that people in the rest of the country don't. It's called diversity! Wow! (Oh, and contrary to Kinnik's food claims, most folks don't cop to eating chitlins. Heck, I won't go near the things. Ugh.)

I think she knows she has a good thing going, but honestly? My mother tried salmon for the first time the other day (that wasn't mixed with cornmeal and eggs into a salmon pattie). At 52 years old and a very educated woman. And you don't see Bucky enjoying California food any more than Kellie is. I know folks seem confused by rural NC, but it is possible to be *that* out of touch. And heck, it's not even Appalachia!
