I was never really a big fan of pop music, that was until Madonna came along. Mariah is good, but shame the girl is not exactly the brightest spark. Whitney, Whitney who? Janet, when last did she do anything except loose of her outfit with Mr. Timberlake. They're all fine and dandy, but let's call a spade a spade, Madonna is the Queen of Pop. And even though American Life didn't do much in the US, well, there is life outside the US (even if the Americans struggle to believe it). I bought the Confessions cd and absolutely loved it, which means one more young heterosexual fan for Madonna.

I'm very glad that Madonna has very mature fans. Madonna is an artist. She didn't win Grammys early in her career but she won tehm after 15 years proving that she has improved. She's got soul and sings from the heart. She sings a lot of things because she has diverse interests. Compare "Crazy For You," "Take a Bow," "Rain," and "This Used to Be my Playground" and you know that she had made better music than any other contemporary divas. Btw, Mariah may be a good singer but Sony was once accused of buying their own records and the critics don't like her generic, monotonous lyrics. Kindly look for reviews in Time magazine for her 90s albums. Alciia Keys, Billie Holiday, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand and Madonna are way better than Mariah or Cher. Confessions is such a fan album and her the DVD for the Confessions Tour is out now so go get your copies!

Mariah a good singer? She can't make her voice sonorous enough during the Grammys last year unlike Mary J. Blige, Aretha, or Christina Auilera when they sing. When Madonna opened the awards night, her voice was full, powerfull and strong. Her voice also improved but Mariah because of her smoking, partying and love for champagne has dwindled the quality of her once earth-shattering voice. Madonna is a better, more successful feamle artist and performer!

Now let's see here Mariah or Madonna.Truthfully speaking I believe Madonna is a joke artist from day one.She can't sing,she has no vocal talent nonewhatsoever.She's ugly and her music is very average and all of her music sounds out-dated.I think the whole idea of a dance album was a stupid one from the get go.I listened to the album from top to bottom and I hear absolutely nothing that is amazing about the album nor the songs.She has achieved so much why not give it all up,why continue to bore people with this average music and below average singing.Granted the album has sold 9 million copies worldwide but only 1.5 million in the US to date Mariah Carey's Glitter sold better than that.Confessions is another flop in the US as well as American Life.Madonna is dead and there's only homosexuals thats keeping her music alive.Mariah on the other hand has lose some of her vocal power but still had the best selling album of 2005 and 17 number hit singles and can actually sing.Someone posted on here that Madonna sold because she sold herself and let me tell u there's nothing remotely good about Madonna to sell herself.Besides of you have to sell yourself like a hooker to gain fans and to sell albums than obviously there's nothing to your "musical gift".So why there's a talk about who's better Madonna or Mariah.MARIAH CAREY of course.

Madonna's album "confessions" sucks, it wasn't a worldwide bestseller, it even flopped in England, Madonna needs to think of something different, I think we saw everything we can see from Madonna, she has used every tactic in the book, and now she wants to reuse same boring stuff!! Madonna is amazing. Enough said. She knows how to work the business and she’s in control. I’m simply giving credit when it’s due. It seems however that Madonna’s career will mostly be remembered by her images and cultural statements, which is nothing to scoff at since she revolutioned the music industry along with Michael…and still going strong. However fantastic her career has been the actual music still remains in the sidelines to the images that she created for herself. Madonna has a lot to say as well and she says it all. Admirable as that may be…it doesn’t make her any better than anyone else….just more vocal. Madonna speaks her mind yet does nothing to remedy the cause that she’s dedicated to. Other artists may appear to be quiet or even worse…oblivious to the needs of society but compared to Madonna they’re active…very active in their cause.

Madonna’s greatest re-invention will come when the music comes first…and the performance-art comes second…as it should be for a musician. Madonna’s music has never been revolutionary…what was really revolutionary is the way she played the music industry, the media and herself. I love Madonna…she knows what it’s all about…images and illusions…in other words she plays a good of chess. Checkmate…she wins...

Hey I just turned 39 today, (one day after Lourdes Ciccone Leon!), secondly I finally heard Madonna's "Hung Up" last night as I was driving to see my folks. Let me tell you guys, it is absolutely amazing!!! Great sound, great beat, and just a really fun song, but artistically, I think Madonna once again has created a new sound. I have never heard anything so energetic on the radio in a long time. To that guy Joe, Mariah's "Charmbraclet tour" played to little venues, because she was afraid she couldn't sell bigger arenas, her album sucked, go to Virgin records, it is in the bargain bin! Also Madonna's "Re-invention" tour sold out stadiums in minutes and grossed millions of $, plus all the critics said it was pure entertainment. Mariah is alright, but whats up with the cheesy tight clothes, the woman is not thin! And she is in my opinion repulsive, her new music lacks style and energy, she can't sell a record in Europe. I know we will be hearing alot of good things about "Confessions" in the near future and the album cover is fabulous just as good as "Ray of Light". Thanks

I think Madonna's album cover is her best. I don't understand what's the big deal with Mariah fans trying to defeat Madonna...when madonna was out there doing her thing and working hard every single year of her career waaay before Mariah even thought of singing. You also can't compare the two..Mariah is a studio recording artist that has alot of #1's...big deal. Madonna is a phenomenon that opened doors for many females in the industry..including Mariah..as well as set the trends of style, music, and performance art. You can't compare successful world tours...6 of them, a music business mogul, a children's author, fashion icon, and her body of work which has evolved and changed year after year,...whether political, sexual, religious or plain pure dance pop...to Mariah's constant whining and unnecessary short skirts.. You just can't compare the two...it's like apples and oranges. 100 years from now..history will be making artistic references to Madonna..because of her content and how she mastered the music video art form and the phenomenon she is around the world.......for so many cultural, political, societical and artistic reasons........not Mariah. And also,..I think people fear a strong woman that has lasted this long in the industry and is still on top, when the life span of a female artist is so short. Madonna has been succesful for 23 consecutive years..she is not a CHer...who appears and reappears with one hit every ten years,...she is not a Janet Jackson....who takes 4-6 year long breaks with nothing to contribute artistically...or a WHitney...who demised to drugs and an abusive relationship....Madonna has been consistently working every year..producing music, movies, on screen and off, writing, designing and making statements in our society. and that threatens people. People have a tough time watching people succeed like that. with two beautiful children, an incredible body, a loving marriage..and all the money in the world. People feel very threatened.
You go Madonna...keep doing what you do...people have been knocking her down since her career started..and I don't think she really listens to the naysayers anymore...this is why she is soooo important to our society. she constantly will break down the doors...of agism, ignorance and jealousies. I think its amazing...and I would want to look like her at her age ANY day.

There is a website called Team Lamb that is trying to recruit people to write negative reviews about the Confessions album. What a bunch of losers! First of all, dont they have anything better to do with their lives? And second, if they dont believe that Madonna is relevant anymore, why would they have to go to so much trouble? On first glance: love it! Speaks volumes to the club/dance/pop community. They'll scoop it up in droves.

Though...got to say, Kylie did it first with her 'Fever' album cover. Madonna usually is the first off the blocks for a trend, but I think Ms.Minogue beat her by 3 years.

As an avid album cover collector (and lover), I think this is one of Madonna's best covers, especially since American Life was one of her worst (I do like the Music cover though).
I agree with a previous reviewer that True Blue, with its stunning Herb Ritts portrait, is her best but this one looks like a lot of fun.

I like the fact that it seems to trace Madonna's roots -- it looks like Madonna is getting ready for dance class -- hints of her dance training. The fact that it's not a close-up of her face is also interesting.
