Whatever happened to Joey Lauren Adams?

155919__jla_lAfter the mid-'90s successes of Chasing Amy and Michael, she seemed poised to make some noise in Hollywood, but for the last few years, all's been quiet on the Joey Lauren Adams front. Not to worry, though, Adams hasn't fled the movie business, she's just been holed up in her hometown of North Little Rock, Ark., writing, directing, and producing Come Early Morning, starring Ashley Judd and Diane Ladd. Adams tells the Associated Press she's working feverishly to make the October deadline for Sundance Film Festival submissions, and then she'll worry about getting a distributor.

With that mystery solved, PopWatch now turns its attention to the search for other missing favorites. Speaking of which, if you've spotted Profiler's Ally Walker lurking the streets of your hometown, drop us a line, would you?

And once again, what has happened to Joey Lauren Adams? She is terrific.

You can find Ally Walker in "Sleeper Cell" playing Tommy's mother "Lyn". You can also catch her on "ER" soon.

Ally Walker has spent the last few years directing a documentary "For Norman - Wherever You Are" on LA county's foster care services. In late summer this year, she was working the small film festivals scene to showcase the film. She was also seen at her husband's side at the 57th annual Emmy Awards.

How long until she pops up as a hooker in a Woody Allen movie?

Like many people, I thought she was destined for stardom after CHASING AMY.

Joey has a great and distinctive voice. I don't find it annoying at all. I don't understand why she isn't cast in more mainstream movies. julia roberts and gwyneth paltrow's voices are much more irritating than hers. My favorite Joey Lauren Adams character: Simone, the vicious cheerleader in Dazed and Confused.

I've gotta agree with one of the previous posters about her voice. She may be a lovely person with boat loads of talent but her voice is very annoying. She needs a voice coach or something if she wants to act.

Good looking out Tim! Other than the joke about what time McDonald's stops serving breakfast, she was pretty much the best thing about "Big Daddy". (okay, I thought the scenes where they play jokes on the losers of Central Park were pretty funny too)

How can we forget Joey in Big Daddy, huh?

I met Joey just last year and she was extremely nice. FYI, she also had a small role in Veronia Mars last season.

Adams was fun in "Chasing Amy", I'd always hoped she'd do more work with Kevin Smith.
Does anyone else get her mixed up with Jennifer Tilly? Lord knows I do.

Oh dear, that's so sad. JLA is so shrill and shrieky, nails on chalkboard sound melodic by comparison. If she must dabble in show business, I'm glad to hear it will be behind the camera.

Thanks for the scoop on Joey. As for Ally, that is a big and weird mystery -- what a talent. Looks as though she might be doing the mom thing, but, assuming she's still married to FX prez John Landgraf, maybe he could drop her name at one of those fabulous FX shows. And speaking of, how great is it that "Nip/Tuck" has not one, but two, "Profiler" alums: Juliian McMahon and Roma Maffia, and "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy cast another "Profiler" alum, Evan Rachel Wood, in his feature "Running With Scissors"? Oh, and thanks, too, to NBC, for killing a great show by casting Jamie Luner. "Profiler" was terrific till she showed up. Then again, it was no surprise after what she did to "Melrose Place."
