Super Meat Boy has been driving fans of platformers crazy since 2010, when the game’s fun but tough gameplay and cute protagonist debuted on the Xbox 360. The game, which was also featured in the documentary Indie Game: The Movie, has since been released on a number of platforms but has remained noticeably absent from phones and tablets. The game’s developer, Team Meat, revealed a solution to this problem during PAX Prime with the reveal of Super Meat Boy Forever.

In an announcement post on the team’s website, developer Edmund McMillen explained that Forever will not be a simple port of the game to phones, tablets, and Steam. Rather, it will be “designed from the ground up to avoid tacking bad controls on an existing design,” taking full advantage of these mobile devices’ touch controls.

The game will not be an endless runner, but fear not, Temple Run fans—there will be an endless mode in which players can compete for high scores. Forever will feature six chapters of randomly generated levels to ensure a new experience each time Meat Boy meets his end, which is sure to be quite often if the game retains its original’s difficulty.

Super Meat Boy Forever will release sometime in 2015, and while it is only announced for phones, tablets, and Steam, McMillen said other platforms are a possibility.
