Lea Michele joined Kristin Chenoweth, who was being honored as an inductee to the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, onstage this weekend for a duet—and it was hard to shake the notion that she was trying on the role of Elphaba in the long-in-the-works big-screen version of Wicked this past weekend. She also had some words of gratitude for Chenoweth, who comforted Michele after her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, died last summer.

“Last summer, I got an email from Kristin, and she said that ‘music will heal everything,’” Michele said of her one-time Glee co-star before launching into a performance of Wicked‘s “For Good.” “And at the time, I really didn’t quite get how that could be possible, but it really did. And so, a year later, to be here on this stage singing with her is such a blessing and such an honor.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Michele has belted out a hit from Wicked; she’s sung a few of them on Glee and at her own concerts over the years. But fans of the musical might enjoy her take on the powerful duet.

Bonus: The Wicked fun continued at the event when Chenoweth performed one of Wicked‘s best-loved tunes—”Popular.”

So here’s an unsolicited idea for the Wicked movie: Though the original Broadway Elphaba and Glinda—Idina Menzel and Chenoweth—likely won’t be the right ages to reprise their roles when the film finally materializes, they can still be included in the movie by recording a new version of “For Good” to be played over the closing credits. That way, everyone gets to return to the Emerald City.
