Jimmy Kimmel's playing with the big boys, getting a haircut from Jennifer Aniston -- VIDEO

As the old showbiz saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — and if it works at midnight, it’ll probably work at 11:35 p.m.” So it’s no surprise that last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live — the first episode to air directly opposite The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman — didn’t exactly reinvent the wheel.

That said, the 64-minute show featured plenty of memorable moments. Take, for example, this montage of celebrities reading mean tweets about themselves — a bit that hasn’t lost its punch even though it’s been done before. Bonus points for Bryan Cranston’s hilarious/terrifying contribution:

At the beginning of the show, Kimmel also sent a team onto the streets of L.A. to ask locals what they thought about Live in its new timeslot. The program, of course, had only been in its new timeslot for about three minutes at that point — meaning that those who expressed an opinion about it (or Jimmy’s fake new habit of wearing cargo shorts for charity, or a fictitious episode in which the host supposedly lit the Dalai Lama on fire) were lying through their teeth.

And later, guest Jennifer Aniston reached back to her days as an amateur stylist — she used to cut her dad’s hair when she was a kid — to give Kimmel a new ‘do. The whole thing went surprisingly well, excluding the moment the Friends star accidentally snipped her own finger.

Did you watch Jimmy Kimmel at his new time? If so, how do you think he did?
