While it won’t be quite as intense as what Katniss Everdeen will endure to outlast her competitors in Hunger Games, actress Jennifer Lawrence will have to fight to make it to the final list of nominees for BAFTA’s 2012 Orange Rising Star Award. (That said, awards shows would be a lot more interesting if actors and actresses had to battle, Hunger Games-style, to remain nominees, let alone winners.)

But will the odds be ever in Lawrence’s favor? Granted, the 21-year-old is already an Oscar-nominee and snagged the coveted role of the aforementioned Katniss, but the long list for BAFTA’s 2012 Orange Rising Star Award includes the equally impressive likes of ubiquitous Tree of Life star Jessica Chastain, Sundance darling Felicity Jones of Like Crazy, and Bridesmaids heartthrob Chris O’Dowd, who pulled off the unlikely feat of winning the girl in a movie co-starring Jon Hamm. The rest of the list, which is predominantly composed of Brits, also has Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn), Adam Deacon (Jack Falls), and Tom Hiddleston (Thor, War Horse) as Rising Star first-round picks.

But, much like the Grammy’s honor of Best New Artist, is it better to be nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award than to receive? Last year’s short list included Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, but as voted on by the public, they were bested by Tom Hardy. (The right choice? Still too soon to tell, darling.) Other former Rising Star recipients have included Kristen Stewart, Shia LaBeouf, Eva Green, Noel Clarke, and James McAvoy, who won over the likes of arguably bigger (with the exception of perhaps Stewart) stars like Michelle Williams, Jesse Eisenberg, Carey Mulligan, Rachel McAdams, Michael Fassbender, Michael Cera, and Emily Blunt.

While the final list of five for BAFTA’s 2012 Orange Rising Star Award nominees won’t be announced until Jan. 11 (the ceremony itself will take place on Feb. 12) we want you to vote on who your pick would be. Take the poll below:
