I like Anna Faris a lot and you can’t fault her at all on this. It was lazy and lame writing and if it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the stage.

    • William Boyd

      Agreed. The writing was bad.

It seems like they’re right to normally do three shows in a row and then take a week off. This fourth one they stuck in there was not good.

Aubrey, it’s about time you did SNL. he did awesome.

    are you mad?

the drake “song” was ridiculous and makes me sad for the future of music. especially with the nutbag nicki joining him!

The J-pop sketch was kind of funny, although it could have been funnier. And as a fan of Japanese animation I was way too happy to hear they mentioned Candy Candy even though they got all wrong the main point of her story. :P

It sucked. Bad. Even the bad skits in earlier weeks were better than the soul-sucking silence that accompanied this batch.
The funny thing is, you can pretty much tell when the set-up is “the joke” and nothing said or done the rest of the way through take the thing higher.

the J-Pop sketch was very funny.this and the digital were the only good ones on this episode, in my opinion.

Was I the only one that thought Anna looked like a pink haired Sailor Moon in that skit?

I think you were a bit hard on the GOP skit (which was kinda stale but still amusing). But you were right about the rest of the show. It stunk. Weekend Update has been particularly painful since the new season started.

  • ichorwhip

The scariest thing about the ep was Vanessa Bayer’s constant skull smiles.

    • William Boyd

Agreed. I prefer the more idiosyncratic styles of the other newbie players.

    • William Boyd

…and they should let Jay Pharoah go wild with his spot-on impressions. He’s uncanny as a mimic.

  • Jen

Anyone else think that she looked like Courtney Love in that opening bit? Blond is NOT her color!

  • William Boyd

I think it’s cool that Kristen Wiig has stayed on for another season, out of loyalty to Lorne and her castmates, but she’s done about all she can do on SNL. She’ll only grow if she focusses on the movies. SNL needs an infusion of fresh writing to support the younger cast members, cause the 10/15 show was really lame and tired.
