Find the 'Cougar Town' cast... on all your other favorite shows!

No amount of time spent with Big Carl will help me get over the fact that ABC’s Cougar Town won’t premiere until next year. I curse whoever made the decision to keep the Cul-de-sac Crew off the air until that mid-season premiere date (which has yet to be determined).

But it seems that the powers that be read my mind and made the decision to at least get Jules & Co. back on my TV, even though they can’t deliver any new Cougar Town episodes. Earlier this week, the show’s creator Bill Lawrence tweeted that his cast “will be on more shows this fall (this week even) than any cast on tv.” What quickly followed was Lawrence’s announcement of the “Find the Cougar Town Cast” project.

It seems that in their spare time, Courteney Cox, Busy Philipps, Christa Miller, Dan Byrd, Brian Van Holt, Ian Gomez, and Josh Hopkins will all be appearing on other fall shows. And it’s starting tonight with Ian Gomez’s appearance on Grey’s Anatomy, followed by Cox — who’s already been seen frequently supporting David Arquette on Dancing with the Stars — and Miller’s stints on Private Practice. According to USA Today, 13 shows are already on board, including ABC’s Castle, The Middle, Man Up!, and How I Met Your Mother on CBS.

And as if this news weren’t already fun enough, Lawrence tweeted that prizes will be awarded to fans who find all the guest spots, most of which will go uncredited.

Fans of Cougar Town, what do you think of this stunt? Are you as excited as I am about the show’s return? And who are you most looking forward to seeing on another show? Grab your personal Big Carl and sound off in the comments.

It would be fun to see Laurie and Travis on Community again, especially since in the premiere, Abed was upset about the mid-season placement.

    • Will

YES! I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who saw that. Everyone saw Abed on Cougar Town (I mean how could you miss him) but no one seemed to see Laurie and Travis on Community. Funny stuff

      • Mary

I must have missed that! Which episode were they on Community?

      • Aura Lee

They were in the finale from last season. After Pierce wins paintball they are celebrating in the crowd.

  • Anonymous

I want to see Bobby on Raising Hope. He and Burt together would be magic.

    • Roger

Plus they were both on the very weird John from Cincinnati a few years ago, with Ed O’Neill.

    • Ava

Shut your face that would be the best episode of Raising Hope ever. I freaking love this idea.

  • Seth

Two things I can’t wait for until 2012: Cougar Town and The Avengers…

    • k

That’s only one thing, but I get your meaning.

      • Lynn

No, that’s 2 things: Cougar Town is one thing, and The Avengers is another thing. 2 things, see?

  • Shamus N.

I hope they’re on Glee and Modern Family.

  • Ted Mosby, Sex Architect

Could this mean HIMYM is revisiting the Ted-Busy Phillips-Danica McKellar threesome? Yay!

  • Carrie

I love the crossover love that’s been going on between Cougar Town and Community.

Co-sign. I was as depressed as Abed when I found out CT was going to be a mid season replacement. Maybe Community can work a game of Penny Can in one of it’s episodes to keep us fans satisfied.

      • Karen

I’d LOVE to see a campus wide Penny Can game on Community!!! Maybe Laurie will randomly pop up again and win the whole thing.

      • Adah

All of these ideas are great! I would love to see Jeff Winger play penny can. I bet he’d suck at it.

I love how “Cougar Town” has carved itself such a nice place in TV folks’ – and fans’ – hearts. :)

Cougar town and Modern Family to me were like peas and carrots. Miss that block of tv on my Wednesdays.

    • Forrest

I’m not a smart man, but I think you spelled Jenny wrong

Couldn’t agree with you more. I think Cougartown belongs after Modern Family. I don’t mind Happy Endings, but that’s not the most ringing endorsement for a show ever.

  • stickittotheman

What is the deal with the 2012 premiere? Is Cougartown in danger of being axed?

    • Kat

I keep telling myself that Parks & Recreation had a midseason premiere, but it’s still going strong (I think). Hopefully Cougar Town will also come back roaring, both in terms of quality (not that I have any doubts) and in terms of ratings.

  • nt

they arent shooting right know, but i would love to see a little “freaks and geeks”-reunion on bones, with john francis daley and busy philipps.

  • Denise

I love Cougar Town! I don’t understand why they are a mid season replacement. I like it even more than Modern Family. The two shows together are comedy gold!

  • Hash

Love this idea if we can’t have the actual CT episodes! I would love a Middle, Suburgatory, Modern Family block. :)

    • Hash

I meant Middle, Suburgatory, Modern Family, COUGAR TOWN block. I had my grape on when I typed the first message…

  • Flip

I’m so annoyed that it’s taking so long for my favourite comedy to return!! This casting thing is a cool idea, but I don’t watch any of those shows and won’t tune in for non-speaking cameos.

    • Sara

I’m trusting the good people of Youtube to splice together all these cameos for me. I’m terrible at picking up background things that I’m suppose to notice (ie: Laurie and Travis in Community, the pineapple in Psych)

Great article. I caní»t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
