'American Horror Story': Watch the first five minutes -- VIDEO

Robert Zuckerman/FX

One of the freakiest moments of FX’s American Horror Story, premiering this Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10 p.m., is its debut’s opening sequence, which depicts one of the multiple murders that have occurred in the show’s house over the years (Dylan McDermott’s and Connie Britton’s characters move into the house in the present day).

Set in 1978, the opener finds two twin boys entering the house and proceeding to basically destroy everything in sight with their baseball bats. Then, they pay a visit to the basement and that’s where all hell breaks loose. I don’t want to spoil the rest. Watch the terror below…

    what is that song?

    • Just A Guy

“Tonight You Belong To Me”. You might recall it as sung by Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters in “The Jerk”.

        thank you

I don’t know if it’s because Dylan McDermott is in it but it kinda reminds me of the movie the Messengers just not on a sunflower plantation.

    2 words: Ryan Murphy
Expect a promising start to the series but it will flounder before the end of the season.

    • Kate

KC, that’s exactly what I saw about Ryan Murphy. So glad someone else sees this too. He should just do films or mini series. He can set out a season one premise that’s great, but beyond that he doesn’t know where to go.

KC, Do you go around on every site to trash Ryan Murphy? I’ve seen this same message repeated and repeated. Guess you blow your second, third, fourth, etc. comments by doing nothing original. The same can’t be said for Ryan Murphy. Why not watch the show before you give your negative prediction of what is to come.

If you’re so certain the show will fail after a second or third season, why bother even checking this out or commenting (it’s interesting that you had nothing to say about the first 5 minutes which have me intrigued). Say what you will but Ryan Murphy is very talented and getting lots of work.

I read a review somewhere (the Washington Post?) a day or so ago that said the first 2-3 shows are not as good as the ones that follow. How did this reviewer see this many shows of an as yet un-aired series, I don’t know.

    LIKE!

Just “twin boys”; the “two” is unnecessary.

    • Ally

      your comment was unnecessary.

Retarded girl warning of danger + dead rat + door opening by itself = GET OUT. Thank God for stupid people in horror movies and shows or else the offerings in the horror genre would be pretty paltry.

  • Eh

The acting is not good at all. Hard to be scary when the line reading is terrible.

  • James

    “I hate trees” lol

Popular was great in the first season. The last half of Popular’s season two was great, a reminder of why we love the first season. Nip/Tuck’s first 2 seasons were epic. Whild season 3 was soso, season 4 was great and they should’ve ended on that season. The rest I assume ryan had no saying…Glee first half of season 1 was great and then it died. Ryan Murphy likes to CREATE shows but then just let someone else takes rein of the show. Hes not a showrunner. Hes like a modern day aaron spelling. Altough he is indeed a gifted writer, brilliant at times with dialogs ( See Popular Season 1 and Nip/tuck season 2 and glee first several episodes only). I hope he doesnt do the same to this show. IT has promise

The music used in the basement is actually from the soundtrack of WHAT LIES BENEATH!

  • Wha’ever

I was underwhelmed by the final “horror” moment (I was really expecting something terrifying) but that doesn’t bother me because I’ve never been a fan of horror : I mean, I like some horror movies but I don’t watch them for the purpose of being scared. So I’m still going to check it out, this intro was pretty good.

Gonna be switching btwn this and new South Park tonight. This’ll be fun.

  • joesmom

I’m there! But why didn’t the boys take the baseball bats into the cellar?

  • Cindy

what channel on star choice is it on???

Great article. I caní»t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
