'Gossip Girl' season premiere: [Spoiler!] is expecting. Who do you want the father to be?

Okay, Gossip Girl affectionados. If you missed tonight’s season premiere then read ahead at your own risk because there’s a BIG SPOILER ahead.

Last season’s finale left us with a number of cliffhangers, but few were as buzzworthy as the positive pregnancy test that was left discarded in a wastebasket shared by Blair and Serena. The implication was clear: one of the girls was expecting, and tonight’s premiere wasted no time addressing it. A blast from Gossip Girl (who I’m seriously suspecting is a dumpster diving diva) put out an APB on the mommy-to-be, while both Blair, who was busy prepping for her nuptials to the prince, and Serena, who was working as a production assistant (ha!) on a film set, declined drinks at every opportunity. In case you didn’t know, turning down alcohol is code for “I’m having a secret baby!” in TV land. Alas though, the mystery was short-lived because Dorota of all people stepped up and (all too excitedly) confessed that GG’s text was referring to her. Turns out D’s expecting a second child. So, mystery solved. Or so it seemed. Just minutes before the episode wrapped up, as Blair stood all prim and proper for a photoshoot in her mother-in-law’s white wedding dress, her seamstress asked her just how far along she was. Blair feigned ignorance, but the seamstress made it clear: Measurements don’t lie, and apparently neither does B’s guilty face.

So, there you have it. Blair Waldorf is with child. Now the question is, who’s the father, or better yet, who do you want it to be? I break down the options (and my opinions) below.

The Prince – Blair’s husband-to-be would probably be ideal first choice as the babby’s daddy, and for that reason alone I’m inclined to think he won’t be. Though, I’m sure that won’t stop Blair from leading him to think he is once her secret is revealed.

Chuck – As Blair’s nuptials near, the dark prince might just be headed toward another downward spiral. Could the possibility of a child in his life finally help him clean up his act? More importantly, can you actually imagine Chuck Bass changing diapers?

Dan — So far, Dan and Blair have only admitted to locking lips, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we learn a lot more happened during their “friendly” meetups than was revealed at the time. Dan as a dad? Well, he’s certainly the most experienced of the batch.

Nate – I know what you’re thinking. This is the least realistic possibility. But you know what?In a world where Serena van der Woodsen works as a production assistant and enjoys it (I really can’t let this one go), anything is possible.

Okay, now it’s your turn. What do you make of Blair’s pregnancy reveal and who do you think will turn out to be the father?

I would love it if Dan was the father, because I’m a huge Dair fan. But, I think the chance of that is nil. Unfortunately, this is almost certainly going to be Chuck’s baby. I don’t think there’s anyway Blair’s actually going to give birth to it though. She’ll probably slip on a staircase at her wedding and miscarry or something. All I care about is Dan & Blair finally becoming a couple. Which is still a big possibility considering Dan still has feelings for Blair.

I took a break from gossip girl halfway through 2nd and through 3 season but I started watching a few episodes last season and the only reason I got hooked on it again was because of dan and blair. Chuck and blair are fun, but dan and blair are more compatible and the better couple. I don’t care whose baby it is as long as they get together this season!

I wonder if I’m reading too much in the ending of Dan’s story about Blair, that Rufus asked him about, to hope that they could have conceived the baby. I was surprised by how much I liked Dan and Blair after always wanting her with Chuck but Blair made Dan a likeable character, which for awhile I thought was impossible. I imagine Blair will end up with Chuck and so I’m debating whether or not to keep watching.

    • stan

Can you imagine Blair Waldorf changing diapers?

      • Emily S

I am picturing poor Dorota changing 2 babies at once.

    • Ally

btw- do we not get GG recaps this year?

      • Brenda Barrett

Yes, I want the full recaps back. I also want Chuck with Blair, and I hope the baby is his.

      • trashytvlover

yes!!!where are my recaps!!!!!! Tim Stack?!??!?!

    • Claire

Oh man, I want the baby to be Dan’s so bad. Please, please, please, please, PUL-LEEEEEEEZE!!!!!!

  • Lili

Fans have clearly confessed that they love Dair… i just hope the producers heard!

    • wino

agree! it was the only storyline that worked last season…and for good reason. those two have chemistry and its nice to see a plot get slowly developed.

    • JJovana

Which fans? All 10 of you?

      • Chris

You mean all 10 of you who stays with Chair and you abusive ship? Well welcome to the Dair era.

    • Isabela

Which fans? The thousands of them that stopped watching last season after the DB’s arc started?

      • susan calhoun

Well actually those thousands of fans you’re talking about quit watching awhile ago when the writers couldn’t stop writing the same story lines season after season. The last four seasons have consisted of Chair scheming lying drama, Nate having sex with any women that shows up, Serena using Dan, Dan going along with it and Jenny acting like a spoiled princess. Now it seems as if Blair is pregnant with Chuck’s baby which makes viewers feel has if Chairs drama is just running another lap. Viewers who left don’t see a reason to return to watching when it’s obvious to them that the writers are just writing the same thing time after time. Blair being the one prego wasn’t surprising to anyone who has a brain. GG Writers don’t seem to know how to throw a good surprise. The biggest surprise that the writers could give viewers is to make Dan the father of Blair’s bun in the oven. Dairians can wish and hope that the GG writers have a better clue then you Chairians do in what exactly makes a great headline. If they don’t then someone has to ask. How did they get their own show in the first place?

  • ggny

from the subtext from Rufus and Dan talk at the end it really sounds like Dan and Blair did more the Kiss…Im really hoping it is Dan baby because that would really shocked people instead of going Boring route and having Chuck be the father

    • mae

      yup. i gathered that too.

  • PQ

its probably going to b Chuck……………………IT ALWAYS IS……………………..different stryoline same old GG

  • JosiePosie

Has EW stopped recapping Gossip Girl? I looked at the list of shows you are recapping and GG is gone from the list. If you have stopped, please start recapping GG again. I love reading the comments from everyone about the show, as well as the actual recap. All GG should lobby EW to keep GG.

    • JosiePosie

All GG “fans” should lobby EW.

    • dee123

They did the same to Desperate Housewives, just a Pop Watch.

      • AN

I hate that they aren’t recapping GG or DH. Yes, I watch both, but I LOVE reading the recaps.

    • ugh

yet the RECAP JERSEY SHORE?? Come on…this is lame!

      • Ally

i know..or Pan Am or Playboy Club? GG got bumped for brand new shows that will be probably be cancelled halfway through the season?

  • Lauren

It is obvs chuck. i mean they had hot goodbye sex before he turned her over to louis for good. she never slept with dan there feelings only went as far as a kiss. and i don’t think it is the prince bc blair wants to make a good impression on his fam. i will laugh once louis gets stuck raising the chair love child! serves him right for meddling in unresolved feelings of two people who are clearly still in love. i almost wish it was nate and blair who were engaged. then at least there could be multiple options as to where the story could go. chuck cares for nate, but i think he has always been worried about nair and that anything old could be new again. dair as a couple is the most idiotic thing ever

    • Aura Lee

It had better be Chuck. If it’s Dan I think I’m done with Gossip Girl. Dan is the worst.

      • Ally

I like Dan…but remember him with Georgina’s baby? He’s already dull- we don’t need to make him even more boring w a baby.

    • ol

Let me get this straight, you think that Louis, who has been nothing but a stand up guy to Blair (even if he did have that hiccup last night, he pulled through rather quickly), deserves the pain just because you think Chuck and Blair be together? Such bitterness! They’re not together because of the destructive nature between them, by their own doing, not because of Louis! Chuck and Blair even acknowledged they shouldn’t be together. Sometimes I just don’t get people’s thinking…

  • Nathalie

DAN, DAN, DAN! my favorite couple since season 1! i always wanted them together!

  • Samantha

It’s Chuck. It also wasn’t a surprise it’s Blair who is pregnant. Unless the guy who played Louis was picked up as a regular cast member it won’t be him. Shame because it’s really predictable.

  • Dair > chair

It’s obviously gonna be chuck. Why would the writers want to make gossip girl interesting by FINALLY PUTTING DAN AND BLAIR TOGETHER!?!

New story same outcome. I’m done

  • Sylvester Malone

The father will obviously be Chuck Bass since the whole series seems to be building towards them ending up together like with Ross and Rachel in Friends.

    • Brenda Barrett

I hope so. It’s the only reason I’m still watching.

      • elena

        Ditto.

  • Lisa

Not surprise it was Blair that’s pregnant. We all new it was going to be her duh!! Just like we ALL no it’s going to be Chucks. It would be good if it was Dans just because that would be something diffrent. I want them to put Dan and Blair together because they made us like them together then took it away. Time will only tell.

  • Maddie

I’m sorry, but this how far is GG going to go to make Blair as unlikeable as possible? She agrees to marry a man she barely knows just cause he’s a prince, then cheats on him, and now is keeping a pregnancy potentially caused by unfaithfulness a secret?

  • Rachel

Josh has already said it is either Chuck or Louis on 3 other sites.
The pregnancy is exciting but the episode was very boring. Limited Blair/Serena and no Chuck/Blair do not make for a great episode.

  • DC

It’s obviously going to be Chuck’s, because this is Gossip Girl, keeper of the status quo. Every twist will always be meaningless and everything new will always revert back to what’s expected. Despite Dan and Blair being one of the only compelling storylines to come out of this show in years, you know that the writers don’t have the balls to actually go anywhere with it. If it happens at all it will be a 5-episode story arc at best. Chuck and Blair are the end-all/be-all, because that’s what the writers decided at episode one.

    • Eric P

Thanx Dc you summed it up quite nicely. As for me, i’m moving on last season drove me away. Blair’s gonna marry a prince she’s known for 3 minutes…B1tch please.

  • Christie

I can’t wait for Blair to tell Serena that she’s knocked up and for Serena to ask who the daddy is. Well something has to stop that farce of a wedding–I mean really, Blair off in Monaco playing at princess? Does Meester want to leave the show? So either Blair is still pregnant in November and has convinced Louis the kid is his or there’s going to be a tearful reveal either before she walks down the aisle or, when they get to the ‘objection’ part of the ceremony, someone is going to be disrupting the ceremony.
Of course if GG really wanted to do something shocking, Blair could have a legal abortion before revealing anything because I doubt that she wants to be a mommy at the moment.
