We have been waiting so long for answers about the much-anticipated iPhone 5, you might as well slap the gadget on ABC and call it Lost. Earlier this year, Apple devotees licked their lips in anticipation, hearing whispers that the iPhone 5 would be released in June. Then August. Then September. Then we lost all faith entirely and wondered, what are we doing sitting here wasting several episodes in The Temple waiting? Will we ever find satisfaction?
Seems we may finally get closure: Sources have told The Wall Street Journal‘s AllThingsD blog that Apple has scheduled its next media event for Oct. 4… which is when we can expect to finally — finally! — see the new iPhone 5. This would mean my dying iPhone 3G has to hang on to life for just a few more weeks. If you do hold on, dear iPhone 3G, I will agree to put you out of your misery at the time when you most threaten to die on me: In the middle of a game of Fruit Ninja when I’m just about to beat my high score.
But can we believe that Oct. 4 is the date? Who knows — Apple has not returned EW’s call for comment. But I’ve waited so damn long for this thing, it better at least hover. Make it happen, Mr. Tim Cook!

Mine did die. Had to pay $70 bucks for a refurbished one and still waiting for the 5. Worried about rumors that even after this delay that improvements will be very minor.
Iphone 3G? Meh, I’m still rocking my iphone 2G!! Still got the amazing battery life (can go 2 days on single charge and light internet usage). Never like the 3g plastic and the 4G is fundamentally flawed (death grip anyone?) is why I’m still with my 2G

Would you belive my first iPhone would be iPhone 5? Been Android user with samsung galaxy but had enough. Sold id on ebay and waiting for iPhone 5.

Not only will the iPhone 5 be my first iPhone, it will be my first smart phone. But I’m not totally still stuck in the stone age- I have a 3G iPad which has helped me get by.

Our 3G is cracked on the front and the back, so my husband had to wrap it with this saran wrap-like stuff to hold it together. It works but it’s not pretty. We need the 5!!
I’m in the same boat. Cracked the front screen pretty bad a month ago. Small pieces keep falling out at the top where the speaker is. Still works though! Just waiting for the 5…
Funny when people would mock how Apple is always coming out with a newer version of the IPhone or IPad. But the anticipation for the new one is like this.
I have been waiting all year for the new iPhone. Then finally at the beginning of september my crapberry bit the dust. I had no choice but to upgrade and get the iphone4. Now to find out that the 5th generation is coming out a month later…. Grrrrrr, I knew this would happen.
I charged my iPhone 3GS two times yesterday. Then after an intense Peggle session last night, the battery died while I was sleeping. C’mon iPhone 5!!
Get a fresh battery and install it. Oh wait, you can’t do it yourself. Better hope the 5 allows users to switch out batteries themselves.
I have a 3GS. I want the new iPhone 5 but it sounds like the will be a shortage of phones. I never get that. Apple knows right now when the new phone will be on sale and there will still be shortages and waiting lists two months long. I may wait and see if Apple lower the price for the iPhone 4 and get that. It will still be an upgrade for me. I wonder if Apple will be introducing any new iPods. My 4th gen iPod is dying a slow and painful death.

Oh I’m sure it will be coming out very soon. I just (finally) got an iPhone4 3 weeks ago so of course the new one will be right out! Figures….
