Recognize this woman?… No? I’ll give you a hint: Nothing compared to her when she was a superstar chanteuse in the 1990s… And she’s since let her hair grow out. That’s right, it’s Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor. (The hair hint gave it away, didn’t it? ) She looks different, but her unmistakable crystalline voice remains intact. Watch the video below of her singing “Reason With Me” in St. Petersburg in June:
Over the course of the last two decades, she has continued with her outspoken activism — she famously ripped up a photo of the Pope on Saturday Night Live — battled bipolar illness, became an ordained priest, and released a steady stream of studio albums. She’s currently in Europe on an acoustic tour.

wow…she USED to be hot
Like when? Maybe in utero or something. Otherwise she was a bitter bald harpy.
Yeah, to lesbians.
Wow! She didn’t skip too many meals, either, did she?
Brian Wallace
She still has the spooky Sinead eyes.
And a Homer Simpson gut.
wow, you guys are only 6 hours behind CNN who isn’t an actual entertainemnt website.
They were busy building their “Guess this hairy chest” slideshow
They were at least 24 hours behind People.com
Well its EW as in Weekly. Is it important to be the FIRST to print this type of story. I wouldn’t chide them for printing a “non-story” 6 hours after others. I love Sinead’s body of work regardless of what she looks like. There’s hardly a week goes by that I don’t play the entire “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got” album.
She started out in 1988 and had songs on ‘Modern Rock’ charts. Then 1990 hit, so can’t say ’1990′s singer’.
Someone whos fame carries over into the 90s with bigger hits is considered part of the 90s.
People with spare tires should definitely wear mesh tops at all times.
Loved Lion and the Cobra, the album came out before Nothing Compares 2 U.
What if its a fake suit for an artistic statement. That would be cool
What a fat slob.
Give her a break, she’s Irish!
When young, they are among the most sexy smoking hot people on the planet, with jet black hair and dancing eyes…. then after 40 they become thickset potato faces.
Romanians do the same thing…..
2016 is the year Colin Farrell would normally turn into Brendan Gleeson.
I’m marking my calender right now!
Kinda shocking, but she still sounds like Sinead. After years of being recognized as the crazybald chick, she probably wanted a new look!In the end,its all about the music anyway.
I thought she tore up the picture of the Pope on the Tonight Show, not SNL. I could be wrong though.
No, it was definitely SNL… which is why she got away with it… it was a LIVE show.
OMG! Someone actually mentioned this. I was specifically looking for this post. People are such sheep! Stop living in the past!
Yes… the person who mentioned it was the writer of the article. It was in the body of the article above. Michelle was asking a question about it… I was clarifying. So, you were looking for a post of this kind but didn’t bother to read the original item that the comments were about? You’re so funny. “Stop living in the past”? If you clicked on something about Sinead O’Connor in the first place… you obviously are going to be reminded of the past…no? And like it or not (I personally loved what she did on live TV… and I’m not a hater of The Church), when writers talk about Sinead, they will have to mention this infamous episode from her PAST.
And furthermore, using “OMG” and calling people “sheep” has made you one yourself.
She looks great either way. She’s got a little of that Adele look by growing that hair out. Her shorn hair worked in the late ’80s and early ’90s with her first few albums. But this new look is cool. I think that writer knows Sinead for her hit Nothing Compares to U from 1990, her hit album from that same year and when it won several MTV video music awards.
And let’s give credit to Prince who wrote “Nothing Compares 2 U”. She did a great version but I like his live version with
Rosie Gaines just a little better. Sinead’s video to that song is haunting, though.
Reports say Sinead has bipolar disorder and her medicine makes her gain weight. Anyway, how many of us look like we did 20 years ago?
