Vanity Fair's 'Best-Dressed': More proof that Kate Middleton wins at everything

Kate Middleton is at it again. She’s already snagged the world’s most sought-after bachelor, scored the greatest wedding dress ever, and casually graced the cover of Newsweek next to Princess Di. And that was all before lunch, it seems: This morning on NBC’s Today, Vanity Fair‘s Amy Fine Collins revealed that Kate Middleton is the leading lady of Vanity Fair’s 72nd annual International Best-Dressed List — proving once again that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, continues to do just about everything at a level head-and-shoulders above the rest of our species. Watch the clip after the jump:

“Kate Middleton is the hands-down winner this year,” Collins told Today host Ann Curry. Prince William’s bride of three months received an overwhelming number of votes in the online poll that decides each year’s list, MSNBC reported.

“Kate has brought back items we never thought we’d see again in fashion, including hats and nude stockings,” Collins said. “She also knows how to combine clothes that are mass market [or] off-the-rack with real designer clothes.”

Middleton, who also made the cut in 2008, joins a whole host of politicians and political figures on the best-dressed list — a sneak preview of which can be viewed on Vanity Fair‘s website. She’s in the dapper company of Princess Charlene of Monaco, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser (the wife of the emir of Qatar), Princess Alexandra of Greece and her husband Nicolas Mirzayantz, and French First Lady — and four-time Best-Dressed List honoree — Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Colin Firth, who pretty much counts as British royalty in our book after his Oscar-winning turn as George VI in The King’s Speech, also made the list.

Not to be outdone, the United States was represented by the fashionable likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Johnny Depp and NBC’s own anchor Brian Williams, who Collins said “represents male glamour.” The list also honored U.S. First Lady and elegant style icon Michelle Obama, who makes her fifth consecutive appearance on the Vanity Fair Best-Dressed List. (What now, Carla?) She is honored alongside her husband, now a two-time honoree, in the couples’ category.

Penny for your thoughts, PopWatch crew: Is Kate the right choice to top the prestigious Vanity Fair list?

It’s been a good year for her.

Lady GaGa one of the BEST dressed? Most interesting, sure. But best dressed? Please. And Kate Middleton would never be Best Dressed if she didnt marry William this year. If she were still just his girlfriend and was wearing the exact same clothes nobody would care.

I believe you meant Princess Charlene of Monaco, not Prince Charlene. So happy Kate made the list- she is stunning!

The Duchess of Cambridge worked hard to lose the name Middleton, and she had to give up bare legs and strapless gowns, not to mention her privacy. She belongs on the list for looking appropriate and stylish always. I hope she brings back sleeved wedding gowns, I’m sick of plus-sized young women cramming themselves into Vegas showgirl looks to thump down the aisle.

        So truee!

I trust Ryan Gosling made the list. Robert Pattinson has a similar style (when it comes to suits), but Ryan’s been so consistent. He gives a modern throwback feel every single time.
