The Smurfs may not be getting the most Smurfing reviews, but we’re finding that that the blue comedy is difficult to ignore completely — we just like Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays too darn much!
So we sat down with the upbeat actors earlier this week to chat about The Smurfs, in which they play a married couple whose lives are thrown out of wack when an assortment of singing blue munchkins arrive in their apartment. Harris and Mays explained the complex process of shooting with the CGI creatures that weren’t really there, and they took a little time giving each other smurf names as well. Check out the video below:
What do you think, PopWatchers? Did anyone else find themselves craving blue Jell-O after Jayma Mays started mentioning the gelatinous smurf? Oh, was that was just me?

So… Grady Smith is pretty…
Indeed…
I second that emotion
I love me some NPH and Jayma Mays, but even they can’t get me to go see this movie.
Agreed.
I don’t think the movie was meant for you…actually, I’m not sure who it was meant for.
It was meant for fans of Glee who thought the show was “too straight”.
We could have had it aaaaaallll….trolling in the deeeeeeep.
This movie is absolutely awful and will fail at the box office. What drivel along with Cowboys & Aliens.
There’s still Crazy, Stupid Love!
Don’t give up your day job, oh, wanna-be psychic/movie critic. It was #1 at the box office.
Just went and saw it and LOVED IT!!! The two of them were great and the movie was great.
Look better then Thor
i liked cowboys vs aliens!
If you pretend the movie title isn’t in quotations, this story has a very violent headline.
LOL
I’m on a 16-hour flight. This is the only movie. I still don’t watch it. Are Smurfs even current for the whiny kid knowing who they are bugging their parents into bringing them to see it?
Yet another babysitting movie from Hollywood.
Smurfette gives great smurf.
“Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays talk about shooting ‘The Smurfs’” … what a misleading headlline! You had me all excited there for a second. But noooo, they live. Bummer.
This headline says it all- I’d love to SHOOT them too!!
These two are adorable together.
why have them come to new york?didn’t Enchanted just do that, not to mention all the other fish-out-of-water movies that came before? i was too old to get into the cartoon, but i do know they existed in a medieval time.why not do a movie in that world?what is it with hollywood that every movie has to happen in new york or LA?i’ve complained about this before because as a movie nut i find it boring that we get the same two locales EVERY time.i have friends and relatives in both places and i’ve been to both and i gotta tell ya they ain’t that great.what’s next,a star wars story where R2 and 3PO come to either place?there are other cities/states hollywood.look at a damn map and pick one.
No blue Smurf Jell-O craving but if I saw that in the supermarket I would definately buy it! I saw the movie they definately got the right human lead for this movie they need to be cute nice people to blend with tiny blue animated creatures. Gargole and the others no so good but then again is a kids movie not a Oscar picture.. so all you hates get your expecations straight this is not a Pixar flick.
