Well any author who makes a series like this will tell you, it’s one big story. Just because they are broken into books doesn’t mean the same needs to be done for TV.

Does every entertainment story have to have some misleading, overblown headline? They are not seriously talking about the show being on for 20 years.

As far as the content of the article goes — there is a big difference between a TV show that is being made up on the fly and an adaptation of a pre-existing work(s) of fiction. They have the entire story mapped out for them so they don’t really have to worry about running out of ideas, until George Martin does anyway.

There is plenty of quality story to draw from- the first book was far from the best. I predict the show will last for 10 seasons- i dont see them canceling it before its done. Its not like other shows that write their own content- its a story, with a beginning and and end (true, it hasnt been finished yet, bu it will). There is always going to be enough suppport to finish it. Its just a matter of whether its gonna be in 7 seasons or 12. Maybe they should extend it to 12 episodes a season

I agree that this article is taken out of context. HBO will not have a show for 20 years but maybe 20 seasons of 5-7 episodes airing twice a year that’s possible right? Haven’t finished the books so I will stop reading these blogs that have embedded spoliers.

The series has no choice but to run 20 years. It will take that long for Martin to finish writing the remaining books.

This is a stupid article. A show like Game of Thrones would never last 20 years nor should it. The comment by the HBO executive about it lasting 20 years was his way of saying dont worry were not going to cancel it out of nowhere.

    Nobody needs another Marmalade Boy.
    Have I made my point?

I want them to adhere to the books and not go off on some tangent of their own. Trueblood is an example of what can happen.
