TV makes me cry disproportionately more than real-life, so I was a little confused when the camera panned to tear-stained Lady Gaga after Marko’s performance last night, and I sat there with dry eyes. Don’t get me wrong. His performance was gorgeous and very touching, but tear-worthy? I’m not so sure.
I’m sure the song — Jeff Buckley’s “I Know It’s Over” — played a major part in the weeping effect the piece had on The Gaga. It’s a hauntingly lovely tune that was a perfect fit for the message of the dance. But is my heart going cold? Did the performance move you to tears, too? Or were last night’s tears something for the Overreaction Files? Also, do you think the fly on Lady Gaga’s hat was attracted to her because she perpetually smells like meat or did it just want a hug? Watch the clip.

Nah, but I’m generally not moved to tears by a lot of things. A lovely dance, but… yeah… no dice.
Gaga is a flake!
That figures. Another wanna-be no talent pop clown who can’t control her addiction to super stardom.
That’s all people like her are all about these days. Whoever wears the sleaziest clothes, bla bla and has the biggest light shows sell more CDs.
How can people be so stupid?
What a joke GaGa is!!
Gaga certainly is a lot of flash but she has tons of talent to back it up.
Gaga is overly emotional period. I think it’s because her new CD is on the Edge of Mediocrity.
Yeah, she definitely took the “safe” route with that follow-up.
She’s very talented and I think she still has it in her to make a great record.
I disagree. Taking the “safe route” would be having Dr. Luke produce the cd (he produces Katy, Britney, Kelly, and everyone else). Born This Way to me, is comparable to Christina’s Back to Basics where she explored her own roots and paid homage to the music that inspired her. For example, songs like Americano are HARDLY safe (mixing mariachi and Edith Piaf type sounds).
We aren’t starting these dumb insults about Born this Way again are we?
That insipid album called Born This Way? Hype no substance.
I didnt watch the show simply because of Gaga and her new single You & I..sucks!
That’s too bad. You missed some really beautiful dances.
Sympathy tears from a snakedoctor named Lady GaGa.
Her new single You and I is expected to flop harder than Judas.
No, we dont believe her sincerity!
I wept only because I had to endure Gaggag for two whole hours…
..it is all about rating.
GaGa is a bait for the show. They danced better than GaGa herself.
GaGa is lucky to have such a great rich parents, PR, sales and marketing team to promote her career. Otherwise, she is struggling too..just like many dancers in America.
I think it was one of those situations where seeing it happen live in front of you is far more moving that seeing it on a TV screen. Had my screen also not been 1/2 the size due to thunderstorm/tornado warnings during that dance, I probably would have been more moved too.
Very true. Everything is better live.
The only thing that moved on me was my bowels.
I absolutely did not cry. I have been moved on this show, but this was definitely NOT one of those moments. I may have been slightly biased because anything Sonya choreographs grates on my last nerves.
Agreed. I didn’t cry, in fact I rewound the routine to see what the fuss was about. I’ve come close a few times, but I’ve only really cried once for a dance on this show, and that was “This Woman’s Work” with Ade and the ballerina whose name escapes me at the moment. Now THAT made my tears flow. I was also touched by (but didn’t cry) for the Ade/Billy Bell “Mad World”. I could watch both of those routines again right now and probably still get misty eyed!
Melissa is the ballerina.
I didn’t cry either, and thought Lady Gaga had a bit of an overpraising, hyperbolic reaction, though it may have been more meaningful in person. I remember tearing up for “Fix You” last season though, with Robert and Allison. That routine was just so beautiful.
Yes, that’s the one that made me cry, too.
The dance was just captivating. I didn’t cry, but everyone’s going to have different reactions- that’s art.
It is not just you, I have actually been having this problem recently on this show and that I can recall when there were dances that actually made me feel (we miss you Mia and want more Travis). And it has been awhile, like I sort of felt pandered to last year over the whole “Fix You” dance that everyone raved over. I tend to notice this with any reality type shows, you have a couple of seasons where you really love contestants and then afterward you start to bore of all the types. I mean, last night with both Ivan and Neil coming back almost made it worst, they are from times when the show did move me at least once an episode. Heck, even thinking about Neil and Lacey’s performance of Mia’s dedication to her father…really, I am at work…
I didn’t cry. I actually chuckled a bit seeing everybody crying. It was a good routine, beautiful in some parts. But crying worthy? Not from this gal.
I didn’t cry because of the performance, but I did cry because of what he said to his mother. I thought last night’s episode was the overall best of the season – as in a majority of the numbers were wonderful. During prior weeks, most were ok, not great. Last night, most were better than good to great.
Agreed. The Gaga tears – blah. But what she said about mistakes in her life and the performance made her reflect was geniune. I hate the song but I thought the dance was nice. Also what he said to his mom. Gotta cry when a boy loves his mamma.
No tears, here, either, but I was completely distracted by that fly!
You need to understand that this people breath music and the senses are more open than you can imagine . Did you see the fly in gagas hat instead ?
Nnnnnope! No crying here! I have been moved to tears by some dances in the past, but not this one. Great dancing, but not a tear-jerker. Major overreaction.
I was far too captivated by that fly to care about her tears!
Maybe you just had to be there… I re-watched it to see if I had just missed something. Fantastic performance, but didn’t move me.
I’m moved by music, not so much by dance, but I’m sure the art form of dance causes the same sort of visceral reaction in some people that music causes in me. Though I didn’t cry, I “get it.”
