What’s the deal with Jerry Seinfeld waiting so long to join Twitter, you ask? Well, Question Asker, maybe you should just be thankful he’s here. Only a few months ago, the 57-year-old comedian told The New York Times that he had no plans to drop 140 or fewer on us, calling it “stand-up with a net.” Jerry seems to have changed his tune, but he hasn’t totally changed his tone, as his first two tweets were laced with playful reluctance: “Greetings, Tweetarians! I have just landed on your Planet. This could be my last Tweet.” And: “Second Tweet! Am I done yet?”
The Twitterverse didn’t take long to take notice: Jerry is currently trending, and he has already amassed more than 35,000 followers since he began tweeting three hours ago. Could it be mere minutes before we read GOLD, Jerry, GOLD? We are breathlessly sitting by. And if Seinfeld winds up enjoying his social networking experience, perhaps he can persuade his buddy Larry David to join! (Cut to: this never happening.) So, how do you feel about Seinfeld finally churning out some sweet tweets? And is there one comedian that you’ve been hoping will join Twitter?

I wish Jon Cryer would join Twitter, simply because I’ve loved him so much since Pretty in Pink. He’s awesome.
The question is, though, is he master of his domain?
I think the reluctance Seinfeld had to join Twitter is that now, instead of just the 10 people a day quoting 20 year old TV show lines to him, it’s likely to be 1000 people a day quoting 20 year old TV show lines to him.
I need Tina Fey and/or Amy Poehler to join. Actually. Maybe it’s better they stay off.
Can they just leave the planet too?
Boom! Roasted.
The ghost of Benny Hill maybe?
This guy just wants publicity
Yeah, he just wants publicity, vs. the other thousands of celebrities who join because they genuinely want to communicate with the other morons on Twitter.
Yeah Jerry needs the publicity because he is only worth about a Billion dollars and gets somewhere between $25 and $75 million a year in syndication payments – he really needs the publicity
Dave Chappelle should join Twitter. I’m not on Twitter so I have no idea if he uses it.
I love Jerry!
Love Jerry and would totally follow him, but I can’t help but think that a person like him has something up his sleeve. Does he have a project coming out soon? I have absolutely no doubt that his tweets are gonna be anything but hilarious, but I’m gonna wait a while before I hit the follow button.
Jerry is the man! I’m gonna follow him for sure.
Great news!
This oughta be good…
Larry The Cable Guy … if he isn’t already lurking in the shadows…
