Well, this is sort of a bummer. Just a few days ago, we learned that Friends With Benefits star/all-around cool chick Mila Kunis had apparently accepted an invitation from Sgt. Scott Moore, who is stationed with the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Musa Qalain, to attend the Marine Corps Ball with him this November. But today, Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush crushed his — and our — dreams when he announced she wouldn’t be able to attend the Ball because of filming conflicts. Bush went on to say that while Kunis had to decline the invitation, she would meet with Sgt. Moore personally when he gets back from his deployment. Kunis’ rep could not be reached for comment regarding the news.
If this does, in fact, turn out to be true, it won’t change our opinion of Kunis forever (she’s stayed in our good graces thus far). But it seems her Friends With Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake may be able to come to the rescue…for America. A fellow Marine by the name of Kelsey De Santis followed Moore’s example and sent a similar video to Timberlake asking him to the Marine Corps Ball. De Santis keeps the plea to a short and sweet 15 seconds, but warns him, “If you can’t go, all I can say is, cry me a river.” We’re also fairly concerned that the guys in the background might harm him if he says no. (Timberlake’s rep has also not yet responded to a request for comment.) Watch the clip below.
Actually, all celebrities might be crying a river soon if JT says yes, because then it will pretty much become standard that all stars must say yes to fans date requests over the Internet. (You hear that, Ryan Gosling?) Still, at the very least, you might get a friendly, funny decline like Conan O’Brien did for the fan that asked him to her prom.

If you watch the clip where she accepts, you can she that she’s trying to think about what she’s doing in November. She agrees to go, and it seems that she would like to go, but she does ask someone off camera to look into it. I think she knew she was shooting, but thought or hoped she could work around it. Look, things don’t always work out. I’m sure if she could go she would. If the movie she’s working on can rearrange her schedule so she can go I’m sure they will. But, at the very least she’s gonna meet the guy. It isn’t like she’s not doing anything, and she isn’t the one who sets shooting schedules, that’s up to the people making the film not the people appearing in it. I still give her kudos for accepting sight unseen and not knowing if she was available. It’d be nice if it worked out, but she earnestly said yes, but sometimes things don’t always work out.
Exactly. Kunis is too much of a class act to say that she would go and then back out unless she seriously couldn’t go.
Class act or not, I wonder what is so set in concrete in her schedule that it can’t possibly be postponed for a few hours out in November. Hey when is November anyway, Is it next Tuesday.
Seems very convenient now that she has gotten some feel good publicity to back out.
I know that all of the star struck fans will come running to a celebrities defense, but once she committed and got her good PR, I would be interested in hearing about what can’t possibly be set aside. If she is filming overseas, for example, I’m sure she could have remembered. . unless she is all beauty and very little brains.
But OK all of you star struck fans, come to her defense with your excuses.
@ J Norman-I’m not sure this is the conflict, but she’s scheduled to star in Oz the Great and Powerful which is filming in Michigan. Assuming the ball is in Washington DC that’s a heck of a hike for a couple of hours. Having said that-I dont’ think she should have said yes until she checked her schedule

Bullcrap. She realizes the ridiculousness of accepting this invitation and the potential for other celebrities to be “blackmailed” into accepting such endeavors, lest they be deemed unAmerican. (After all, if Kunis had flat out said “NO” to our brave, selfless, all-Americann hero, she would be raked across the coals…

I thought he was asking her in a joke-ishly douchey way. It was cute and funny. I really doubt he expected that she would actually see it.

Please… she was put on the spot when she said yes in the first place. She said she hadn’t seen the video, so she obviously didn’t know the date of the event. She probably found out the date later onand realzlied she could not go… Nice to offer up a meeting with him afterwards though!
She would have went with him if he looked like Bradley Cooper. I’d turn down a million movie roles to spend one night with him.

This is so typical of someone from the Hollywood crowd. Instead of using their celebrity to visit Veterans or Children’s hospitals to give the patients a lift or host a party at their homes for a group of returning vets and their families or a bunch of kids that are terminally ill, all most of these superficial and shallow people are concerned about is what they’ll be wearing to the next award show or whether to have more plastic surgery. These people do have free time and they could contribute so much by doing things for people that weren’t born with their luck – and it is more luck than talent. Kudos to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for using their fame and wealth to make a real difference in this world. People can say what they want about that couple but they have a true social conscience and should be respected and admired for their unselfishness.
The moment you gave kudos to Angelina Jolie was the moment you lost me. And maybe you should hold on a second. The story she won’t be attending was a rumor, and if you check out other sites, you’ll see that while she admits to a busy schedule, her team is working to free that night up. Bitter and jaded, party of one.

So funny! I was just telling my husband last night that this “date” would never happen. Not because I’m a cynic, it’s because she said “yes” so spontaneously that I immediately thought “Shouldn’t she check her schedule first?” She is, after all, a celebrity and they’re schedules aren’t immediately known off the tops of their heads. It’s not really her fault except that instead of agreeing under the pressure by J.T. she should have said “Let me check my schedule and if I can make it, I WILL!”

If she meets with him personally, then in a way, she’s still keeping her word even if it’s not a date to the ball. But she was put on the spot.

If I recall correctly, she didn’t actually see the video; she was asked about it in an interview or something and quickly agreed to go.

Just the mere fact that she was willing to try and accommodate this request without seeing the video, speaks volumes about her as a person. Clearly she was trying to do the right thing, but scheduling issues do happen, it is not uncommon these days. I for one would say that if you are accepting not knowing the event date (s), then it is subject to full final approval and it just isn’t meant to be. What is nice is that she would like to meet the young man in person upon his finished deployment. That is not a complete BLOW-OFF as some are mentioning on here. Mila Kunis is still a nice young woman who like the rest of us has to work to pay her bills too!

The guy is a total wuss going back to the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at the super bowl when he pulled a velcroed breast piece off Janet Jackson then denied all knowledge of what was underneath it . I think talent, working long hours, and being likeable probably had more to do with it than some mercenaries occupying a foreign country.
I was with you, ian, up until you referred to the military as “mercenaries.” Sure, a mercenary fights for money, but that’s different from a country’s actual army, and there are connotations of greed involved that just make no sense. No one joins the military to get rich. Finally, I understand your displeasure with our military action overseas, but there’s a more rational, less inflammatory, more productive way to discuss it that doesn’t imply that the men and women who leave their families in order to face death because their leadership orders it…are bad people.
Except for the fact that BOTH JT and Mila have attended benefits, gone to hospitals and more for Vets and Military families who cares. I mean it wasn’t like Justin wasn’t a part of NSYNC and their charity Challenge for the Children which raised money for kids. He also doesn’t have his own foundation now. Oh wait these are facts.

She’d be flying from L.A. to Greenville, NC, going to a ball that lasts a few hours, and then flying back. That’s a whole weekend shot, or at the very least an overnighter.
Travolta will volunteer to fly her round trip for nothing. No expense to her.
