Production wrapped yesterday on 21 Jump Street, co-writer Jonah Hill’s comedic remake of the ’80s undercover cop show, starring Hill, Channing Tatum, and former Officer Tom Hanson himself, Johnny Depp. The Superbad star tweeted the news last night, writing, “21 Jump Street just officially wrapped. See you March 16, 2012.”
Straight-forward. Just the facts. At least Hill included a photo that captured some of the cast’s celebration. How excited are you for Jump Street to hit the big screen? Just excited or Jonah-Hill Excited?

Is JH directing or did he write it??
He wrote it
OMG..what next… a Kojak remake?
The question should be a comedic Kojak remake? I don’t really remember 21 Jump Street other than Johnny Depp’s hair, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a comedy.
@Marie – actually there was quite a bit of comedy in the show, some of the best episodes were the comedic themed ones
They’ve already tried a Kojak remake with Ving Rhames.
The problem with “Black Kojak” is that it had already been done, it was called “Shaft”.
they also did that short lived stuart townsend version called night stalker
The headline makes it sound as if he directed it because the director is the one who decides if the production is wrapped.
Nevermind. They changed the headline.
He looks like a post-op Chastity Bono, minus the masculinity.
LMFAO!

woo i’m pretty excited for this! i can’t wait to see what johnny depp is going to do!
Gross!
Right!? Jonah Hill is grody to the max!
I know, like, gag me with a spoon!
How did this guy become a movie star? He’s so unappealing to look at. I just can’t spend 2 hours looking at that.
yeah i wonder about that also. thats an extra bad pic of him too.
He looks like Chastity Bono in that pic.
The guy is funny that’s why he has a career. Looks have nothing to do with it. He can be pretty annoying but he was hialrious in both Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. If you want to watch things with pretty people being pretty and not much else, go watch Gossip Girl.
Or how about I watch something with attractive people like Ryan Reynolds being funny. I can have the best of both worlds. I like to laugh at how funny they are, not how funny looking they are.
These comments of yours against Jonahs looks make me wonder if you’re some fat and ugly person trying to make yourself feel better about yourself. Pathetic.
Ryan Reynolds is not funny. Except maybe in Van Wilder.
Actually, Jonah looks like Beverly from “The Voice” in that pic. Let’s hope the movie does 21 Jump Street AND Jonah Hill justice.
Jonah Hill’s act isn’t as old as Seth Rogen’s, but it’s gotten pretty old. He’ll probably just be the same character he is in everything which is fine if you still think his schtick is funny.
It seems that whole Sueprbad cast (aside from Emma Stone maybe) is building a career around the same one-note characters. Yes, when that movie came out their performances were fresh and funny but after 10 follow up movies of the same schtick, it’s just getting painful.
I would be looking forward to this if it wasn’t written by Jonah Hill! I thought that this show was supposed to be a drama, not a slapstick screwball comedy!
Seriously, I loved Superbad, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but as someone said above Jonah Hill’s schtick is growing old and tired. (But I am glad seeing Johnny Depp in something rather than weird Tim Burton films.)
I don’t think Johnny Depp is in this. Johnny was in the original tv show. This is the big-screen remake.
eta: Not in the movie version as the star, I mean. Not sure just how big his part will be. Is it a cameo?
The only way a remake would work is as a comedy. A drama with undercover cops posing as students at a high school to bust kids for sex and drugs just sounds antiquated and trite.
I’d love for Holly Robinson Peete to make a cameo!
I heard she was. Who`s playing her character in the film?
The original show was passable. I just look forward to a Johnny Depp cameo in ANY movie. As for the new version, will probably watch it without expecting much.
So will this be a good movie based on a TV show like The Addams Family or the 1st Charlie’s Angels or crap like Bewitched, Dukes Of Hazzard,etc…..
I’m betting on crap. I loved the show but the fact that Jonah Hill wrote it and it’s a “comedic” remake…well, I don’t hold out much hope.
It will probably be middle of the road like Starsky & Hutch was.
I’d be excited except the presence of Channing Tatum and JH makes me go ‘meh’.
Wow, it looks like Jonah Hill has finally lost some weight. Good for him. Ever since Superbad, it seemed that he just kept gaining more weight every year. I’m glad he’s getting healthier.
Now they can get busy working on the big screen versions of “Small Wonder,” “My Two Dads,” and “Full House.”
Actually, those remakes would probably be better than any Transformers movie.
Should be about as funny as the Starsky and Hutch remake.
Love me some 21 Jump Street–and even the idea of a movie version–but no way do Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum look like high schoolers.
Jonah Hill AND Channing Tatum could you give me more reasons NOT to see this movie???
